press down to charge shinespark here
You'll need to actually activate the shinespark here..
now as this works on Zero Mission and fusion shinespark mechanics, shinesparking into a slope puts you back into the running animation.
You'll need to reset the shine spark here..
You'll need to quickly morph and powerbomb here...
shinespark again here...
Enjoy your item..
thanks
Anyone fight Genesis yet? Fucker disappeared on me.
How the hell do I get this ball to move?
Glad I could help.. It was a bitch for me to figure out so I figured I'd share
well shit your farther than i am...
Shoot a missile.
wow im retarded
Thanks dude
No problem mate, didn't knew missiles worked until a tried shooting one here. I was thinking bombs were the only way to move those things.
you lost me at this point
I don't understand
You need to have the door open, shinespark off the ledge to the other ledge, rush the door, catch the shinespark before it runs out, pop the bomb, and then drop off and shinespark again.
I hate shinesparking so fucking much.
>that musical change when the Metroids hatch half-way through the nest
...
I got one. It's a Super Missile upgrade.
Also, what are item caps?
10 tanks, 250M, 20SM,20PB?
I want to play this game some more, but I'm getting spooked by the Metroids.
I loved the game up until the final act, at which point I feel like it kind of fell apart. Suddenly there were no more powerups to collect, just about every enemy was instakilled by screw attack, and many tunnels and areas were completely empty without even enemies in them. The omega metroids were annoying and unrewarding, and the last 3 felt like filler content.
The ending was just very anticlimactic. Were there multiple actual endings or just like every Metroid where the only thing that changes is Samus's suit comes off depending on your time/progress?
Ah, this is incredibly helpful, thanks
Still not sure if I can pull it off but at least I know what it's supposed to look like now
>Also, what are item caps?
>10 tanks, 250M, 20SM,20PB?
On normal, yeah.
>Were there multiple actual endings or just like every Metroid where the only thing that changes is Samus's suit comes off depending on your time/progress?
3 different end pictures based on time. Faster = Less power suit, more woman
I thought the Omega Metroids were fine, but yeah you could tell that the last area was rushed. I'm betting that'll be something that will be adjusted in the future though, and honestly I'm fine with that.
holy fuck I was stuck in the same part thanks user
The Omega Metroid fights, aside from the first time where it was scary, were indeed shit.
The slow game end screen is the best end screen. The others are sort of fucking horrible.
>In memory of Satoru Iwata
And they DMCA it lol
where the fuck is the ice beam?
i got the wave beam already, thought ice was supposed to be early on
>many tunnels and areas were completely empty without even enemies in them
Toward the end, or just in general? Because that's the way it was in the original.
>The omega metroids were annoying and unrewarding
I thought their fights were intense and I loved every second of them.
>the last 3 felt like filler content
So exactly like the original. Seriously, he obviously wanted the nest to be just like how it was in the original. It was there for the Omega Metroid fights and that's it. I think changing it would have just ruined what made the Nest so creepy in the first place.
Ice Beam is like one of if not the last upgrade you get. Use it for the bubbles
Ice beam is pretty late into the game. It's also OP as fuck
The game really took a form of its own up until the end, it's nearly unrecognizable. I guess I thought he'd do something interesting with the end of the game but it was very.. literal
Someone post the 100% item map?
Reseting the Shinespark as shown is completely unnecessary, you can just pop the Power bomb, wait for it to go off and then shinespark easily. You don't even have to unmorph.
I was massively disappointed in that fight.
It was way too easy.
does something have to happen first for that ball to show up?
when i go there there isnt any ball in that room
Ice Beam itself isn't OP.
It's that you've got a bunch of other beams stacked at that point that makes you OP.
Sorry, I meant, resetting the Shinespark a second time as shown.
You need to proceed further in the game, then. Don't worry, you can't miss what triggers it.
I love shinesparking so much. The implication that you can shinespark eternally as long as there are slopes nearby gets me rock hard
It's a bloody shame metroids don't even budge when getting tackled by enough kinetic force to atomize anything else. You'd figure it should at the very least fuck up alphas instantly
omegas are the dumbest bullshit
the most tedious fight in the fucking world if you dont want to risk KNOCKDOWN OF BALANCE nuking your fucking health as it juggles you in the corner
It took on it's own form mostly because he had to. Most of the areas didn't make a coherent map because of the room system that RoS used compared to the original Metroid.
So going mostly original and using the original game for inspiration was the best choice in that regard. However the Nest was very simple and the original game was wrapping up at that point.
I'm glad he didn't draw it out longer then he needed to. 4 Omega Metroid fights in rather cramped space to make sure your movement options wouldn't make the fights complete jokes and that's it.
Still, we also don't know what he has planned. He could have some kind of revamp coming for it, but I don't think it would fit. The nest was perfect.
Idk what happened. I think I just shot it in the face with so many super missiles it glitched. I reset and finished the fight normally. I would have likes some lore bonus or something for defeating it.
not anywhere near as OP as the screw attack
You need to try baiting out their attacks. Make use of the Spiderball to get over them as Jumping isn't safe. Morphballing is also a good way to avoid getting stun locked.
Always op in the 2d games. I wouldn't have it any other way.
That's how the Omega fights and the equivalent area was in the original game anyway.
He actually made the Nest simpler to navigate than in the original game.
That entire area is the lore bonus user
that's where the intro expedition from fusion goes and finds the last X. You can even find the exact same cave with the same critter in it. It's all a big nod towards fusion, even the save station onboard
That whole area basically exists just for the Fusion/Alien references. And the item tanks. Fine by me, since it's just a neat little bonus.
where the hell's that area at?
So will the devs see through the LE FHANNY TROLL DCMA or will they chicken out?
Go back to where you found the Research Team after you get Power Bombs, and drop one outside at the elevator.
OK i figured it out in case anyone else needs help with it.
As you enter there is a small hole that can be destroyed with bombs. Destroy it and jump in.
Use Super Missiles to destroy the SM destructible blocks while leaving the ones level with the ground. You do this by jumping up from the bomb hole. That way you can still run up the hill to speed boost and grab the upgrade.
So what were those three things in the other tanks?
One looked like a brain, the other kinda looked like a tiny Draygon. Don't have a clue what was in the third tank.
They're already aware that there's a ruseman going around issuing, they won't be caving. The problem is hosts.
Metroid Database had no choice, because it wasn't them that was sent the DMCA, it was their host. The same will likely go for any filehosts that Doc is using to host the game.
The only thing that is truly untouchable right now is the torrent.
I have exactly one Super Missile expansion to find, and my map matches the 100% map that was posted in the other thread, so I think it might be in an area with some other map marker on it instead.
Could anyone help me out?
I feel like I'm missing something. 40 Metroids to go, should I have gotten Super Missiles by now?
When I shot a super missile, it destroyed all of the blocks there, thus creating that small gap. I was still able to speed boost because there's just enough space to do it.
>hard mode
>only 4-6 super missiles to spare
>never manage to hit more than 1 because this jackass keeps deflecting them
>sucks up regular missiles like candy but still doing shit damage
>its lucky hits cost be entire tanks
PLEASE JUST DIE
I'm out of the loop I haven't played this since last Summer when it was 1.41 or w/e. Did he finish it before the DMCA takedown or what?
If you leave a room and come back do metroids keep any damage inflicted or are they back to full health?
>when the power plant starts overheating and you get to the doors and it blasts you out
Don't stress me like this game
It's fully complete as of Saturday (Metroid 1's 30th birthday).
DMCA takedown just was directed at Metroid Database, the creator's site (metroid2remake.blogspot.com
It's probably fake, if it was Nintendo it'd be a CnD, not a DMCA. Probably some idiot getting his rocks off by scaring Metroid Database, nothing more. The game is still hosted just fine and will probably continue to be fine.
I wish I could have watched your reaction.
>yfw 5HP
See this post, forgot to link it to yours when I wrote it, sorry.
that was scary at the time, but looking back it was also fucking awesome
I started this on hard mode thinking I would be fine since I love the other 2D metroids
The Alpha metroids are murdering me
Have I gotten too casual
...
No, you are probably being overly aggressive. Metroid fights are all about defensive play. Make movements away from them to try to get them to go higher then you.
You are going to love the Zeta and Omega fights.
>mfw turning right around and going right back in to see if there are any significant changes without bothering to go back and heal first
>Metroid fights are all about defensive play.
Not when I fought Omegas they weren't. Defensive play got me killed. I charged right in there and shoved a few supers up their chests.
I've tried doing that, but I end up jumping into them instead. Should I start again on normal to get used to how they work? Everything about the metroids feels foreign to me
I don't remember having this much trouble when I played the actual metroid 2
Did the same. I decided to be adventurous. I just knew it was exactly what the creator wanted you to do too and I was rewarded. Man this game blew my expectations away.
10 years, I never finished the original, got about to the first few Gamma fights and then stopped because other games came out. It was a great game, both the original and this.
>I charged right in there and shoved a few supers up their chests.
I also found this strategy the best
Defensive was too time consuming and I accidentally changed screens too much
Tell me what changed. I never returned to the powerplant
Anyone got some strats for Torizo on hardmode?
So anyone figured out what the Genesis is supposed to be a reference to? Description says its a precursor species but I cant figure out to what exactly, doesn't really resemble Metroids or the X
It's an Alien reference.
That is a little hard to do in a low % run. Omega's are all about learning when to shoot at them and how to avoid them shoving you in a corner. Everyone forgets the Spiderball for some reason.
Energy tank
You drop down a few hallways with bombs and then come across an E tank and a (hidden) missile tank
There are two expansions behind a previously locked door that was destroyed in the blast.
So that's the one E-tank I was missing.
>mfw finding the cave from the Metroid Fusion intro
Pretty blatant Alien reference, from the shape to the ceiling crawl to the acid to Neo-GF being Wayland Yutarni
You will get use to them eventually, just keep trying. Remember that you don't need to always hit them from under, even crouching and firing will get them if you are level to them.
God, after this I can't wait for Fusion-X. Certain parts of this game actually managed to scare me. Fusion X will destroy me.
Ah. Not very familiar with the Alien series, thanks.
Is this Genesis people are talking about a hidden optional boss? I beat the game today and I recall no such thing. Is it in that area to the left of the hydro plant that I forgot to explore?
Is this Metroid 2 remake completed or is it a "work-in-progress" type of deal? I'll download and play it right now if it's complete/
pls respond
complete
>mfw Torizo on hard mode
Was not expecting that second form, holy shit.
It's completed.
I'm more interested in what was in those other tanks.
Cool. Thanks, downloading it now.
Go back to the Federation search and rescue section and power bomb a pair of grey rocks above a mechanical platform
pls help
where the hell am I supposed to be going?
post your map.
This is the one I used:
Oh fuck, I completely forgot about that.
Can someone give me a vague hint as to where to go after the drill gets stopped by the Cordite Crystal?
