It wasn't that bad, right?

In my opinion, it has the best battle system from the entire Mario & Luigi series. The music is phenomenal as well. What hurts it is the lack of original characters and environments, as well as relying too much on boring and repetitive Paper Toad missions. I can't wait for the next real Mario & Luigi game though; it'll be amazing.

I don't know
I could never get the hang of 3 bros so i always let paper die and revived him before k.o.ing a boss

If the next M&L game does the same "no new characters, no new environments" shit then I'm just gonna declare Mario dead right then and there.

>letting the character that can tank hits and easily dodge/counter a shitload of attacks die

Don't worry, I don't think they will go that route again. They probably did it this time because the idea of having a crossover like this was already too much; adding original characters and environments would just complicate things more than necessary. Since the next M&L will most likely be just that, and M&L game, we can expect something akin the first four ones.

Why, though? Even if Paper Mario kept getting hit, you could always keep making copies with him instead of just letting him die; you wouldn't have to waste time reviving him that way.

If Dream Team and Paper jam are the new norm, then they took both of the Mario RPG series out back and shot them.

>They probably did it this time because the idea of having a crossover like this was already too much; adding original characters and environments would just complicate things more than necessary

I still think this sounds like a weak excuse. What's even the appeal of a cross over between two series when both series are basically the same exact things with different art styles?

I beat it not too long ago. (Actually, I didn't, I just quit at the final boss.)

It was a good game. I really liked how Paper Mario became a third bro, it really changed up the battle system a lot. The enemies are fucking harder than they have ever been, and trickier to dodge. Paper Mario get's a flutter jump but I guarantee you will still get fucked up.

I honestly thought the game was going to be really easy. They even throw all these things at you like boosting cards but they don't even make the game easier. Sometimes I don't even notice they are there, but they definitely come in handy.

What the other guy said yeaah the environments aren't as unique. We got beaches, forests, clouds, bowser's great castle, etc. Mostly the same Mario stuff you see all the time. They also didn't really bring any original characters as much in here, especially enemy wise. But I loved the Paper enemies.

There are moments in the game where you will say "fuck, I gotta do this shit again". Like the cardboard battling gimmick. I just did not like it. At first it feels like a mess to use and so fucking boring. Later on I just dealt with it and did them as quick as possible since they are easy. But they are completely stupid and an utter waste of time in the game. Toad Capturing is actually 20x more fun believe it or not. That is something else that comes around during the game, you'll have to find a bunch of Toads, but it's not like Sticker Star. Sort of. You'll even get some neat little mini-games to switch it up. I didn't mind playing those. It's just the cardboard thing.

You know those threads that go "want to play game, remember part" well that cardboard shit would ruin it for me. but i really recommend one playthrough on this, it is GOOD.

It was fine, just fine, like a 6/10.

On one hand the battles were great (especially due to Paper Mario's attacks, they just felt so satisfying), I dig the new card mechanic, the classic characters getting personalities was fun to see, the writing was top-notch and like always, the composer made great music. Also they made tutorials practically non-existent finally.

On the other hand the story was bland, the environments plain & NSMB-esque, the majority of NPCs in Towns were plain Toads (not like Sticker Star bad with it since Yoshis, Lakitus & Toadette were around, but I didn't like seeing the amount we did get), the god damn Paper Toad mini-games were repetitive & not fun and Paper Craft battles were boring. Also as a side thing, I feel Paper Mario was more of a tool than a third character, he kind of was just there for Battles & learning new abilities (by the way, they really need to think of better abilities you learn in this series, most of them are really samey).

Basically, I don't think it's strictly bad per say but the weakest game in the Mario & Luigi series. But hey, I guess it depends on what you want out of the series, it's kind like Gameplay Vs. Setting & Story.

I went straight from Superstar Saga to Paper James and I'm disappointed by how much stuff is actually worse.

>it has the best battle system from the entire Mario & Luigi series
Why the fuck do people keep saying this shit?
The combat was slow as shit, """""""" Bros"""""""" Attacks were slower than ever, and the fucking TRIO attacks were garbage

PiT had more problems I'd say

Ah, the PiT is a bad game meme. Every time.

It's okay. That's about it.

Nabbit should return.

it isn't a bad game but the removal of bro points was a huge mistake.

"Too creative"

I already did with Color Splash.

It's the best Mario RPG of all time which is only hated by the wretched abomination known as Paper Faglords. Ultimately the only compelling part was the fighting and everything else should've been cut out.

PiT is my favorite, it at least wasn't filled with mini-games up the ass like BIS & onward, the areas were interesting & the story was also good. The only real issue I had with it like most was the Bros Moves being turned into items which you can later have infinite of with a badge if you get enough beans & buy it from Fawful.

PiT really is the odd one out when it comes to minigames as even the first was jam-packed with them

Was it? I guess it's been a while so I don't remember the mini-games in the first one beyond the minecart light thing. Also I personally just have a major dislike about the mini-games in this series, they have always bothered me & felt like they were there just to make the game longer, especially with BIS & PJ. I wish the series was over all more about the battles & puzzles when it comes to gameplay instead of just adding these mini-games in them.

very much so. you had the barrel puzzle game, that arcade machine, jump rope, and that clothes coloring one

The story and environments become less inspired in these games as the enemy design improves.

I actually liked the enemies being standard Mario ones this time because it was interesting seeing what kind of attacks and counters the team would create for them. I really like those boxing ghost dudes, the way they'll automatically hit you if you flinch like a bitch and jump too early is great.

What about the surfing minigame?

>The story and environments become less inspired in these games as the enemy design improves.

Really? Dream Team was pretty fantastical with the Dream World.

Can't stand the new artstyle in DT/PJ

...

I imagine the next game will be something different, considering it probably won't be on the 3DS.

You're right actually, there are some cool sights in those sequences. I also liked how the areas had a sleep-themed naming convention, reminiscent of SS's laughter one.

They really need to get away from the plain/forest/mountain/desert format though, it's getting real stale.

I wonder how well this be received in NA. Proto Mario & Luigi and all.

Notice how SS and DT were also the only ones that didn't take place in the Mushroom Kingdom.
