Why did you have to remind me?

All the weird goldsource maps that will never be played, or even seen again.

Like tears in the rain.

Loading up the multiplayer GoldenEye maps on the N64. Knowing that you'll never play them with your little brother again.

You dick-licker, op! I didn't ask for these feels!

thread theme song: youtube.com/watch?v=4N3N1MlvVc4

It must feel amazing to play basketball there

This is a great place to lose your football.

>Loading up all those old-ass, 500+ Smash Bros. Brawl replays
>Now everyone hates Brawl and I have no one to play with.

Thanks for the memories.

I bet they feel right at home

Do you get a sense of longing?

Digging through old custom maps, looking around uninhabited servers. Maybe a bot will greet you, but more often the place will sit empty.

if not, there's just you. Alone, with the default loadout, running around the map to see the creator's hard work and attention to detail.
Maybe you pick up the rocket launcher and fire off a round or two, to remember what it feels like.

Maybe it's vast, maybe it's very small. Maybe it's part of a set, of many maps that were crafted in the hopes many people would spend time on them and have fun together.

You could add a bot or two, and watch him follow his AI pattern and shoot at you in a mechanical pattern... But it isn't the same.

You still have that longing feeling, scouring the virtual landscape, looking over digital plains and pixelated oceans, that someone was there waiting for you.

I deleted all my old TF2 stuff a few years ago when I accepted that it was pointless to hang on to any of it.
Never looked back.

>turn on Halo 2 on Xbox
>run around Midship, Coagulation, Ascension by myself because no more servers
>there are no more sticky grenades thrown from miles away
>no more battles over the sword/sniper
>no more custom games
>no more chatter from your tween/teenaged pals because everyone has grown up and moved on in life
>only ambient sounds and echos of forgotten battles fill these maps, the musings and memories of friends long grown apart barely audible in the passing breeze

tfw Mechassault was the best Mechwarrior game in the last 15 years and nobody plays anymore

Abandoned places like your image and OP's image always make me feel like a hole has developed inside. Abstract feelings.

What secrets lie within the ruins of b-ball past? Could this be the location of the Slampire's stone jersey?

no... they're just playing master chief collection

fuck

Ice cream?

Halo 2 came out 12 years ago, most of the people playing it back then don't play video games anymore much less own an Xbone.

shitty made maps have a strange appeal to me for some reason

Have more "empty places feel" music :
youtube.com/watch?v=lUTli7XadqQ

>feel nostalgic for pso, havent played since xbox server shutdown
>download schthack, apparently there was huge drama problems over the year leading to host changes and a server reset
>no one is on, only like 10 people play apparently, all spanish niggers
>just walk around the old familiar lobby with that one track playing, gives a late 90s sci fi feel
>feel scared as im the only one in the lobby

Shits weird man. Years ago i was talking with people in those lobbies, setting up games. Makes you wonder where all those people you once played with are right now; if some are doing well, if some live in the basement with a miserable life, if some are homeless, some dead...

That's right, user.
Nobody who was playing video games 12 years ago would still be playing them now.

Everyone has moved on. Onto their new lives, with their new families and friends. Their fulfilling new jobs and their new homes.

Anyone who hadn't moved on would simply be left behind. Sitting alone, in old dusty places from their youth where none come to visit them - as the new generation has no interest in these old things, and everyone else is busy and happy with adult things.

I hope you are happy, too, wherever you are.

>Halo 2 came out 12 years ago

>Tfw you will never be able to buy again a pirated CD of Counter-Strike 1.6 with more than 500 maps and custom skins

Fuck you don't post that shitty cover.

youtube.com/watch?v=SFsHSHE-iJQ

Last game I did it with was Dark Messiah's multiplayer, something I never got to play. Feels sad man.

Sometimes I feel bad only playing singleplayer games. Like I have a duty to contribute to some great dead game being slightly less dead.

>Nobody who was playing video games 12 years ago would still be playing them now
I mean, I'm still here. But your point is well taken because none of my friends from back then still play.

Why must we nostalgia? What is it about us that makes it so we can only appreciate how great things were after they have already passed?

>decide to play tf2 for the first time in years
>click my favorite servers tab
>0/24
>0/24
>0/24
>I go on my favorite 2fort
>I used to do a thing where I would dead ringer and disguise as a friendly sniper
>the enemy sniper would keep shooting me wondering how I kept respawning so quick
>I stand on the sniper deck
>nobody shoots me
>walk all the way across the deck without getting my head blown off
>takes a while to register in my mind
>go into the spawn room and practice shooting the target on the wall

I used to love Enemy Territory. It still has an active community with the Legacy version, but God help you if you want to play Vanilla mode or on anything but the top 10 maps. It's like having a great friend you haven't seen in a couple years, but in your absence he was in a horrible car wreck. Yeah, you can talk about all the crazy shit you used to do and reminisce about the past, but that's not helping him get out of his wheel chair.

That's the key to being a happy man, enjoying the moment, and now that you know the truth it's time to go have some fun less you regret it later.

I found my original Xbox packed away, I hooked it up and loaded up Halo 1, checked out the old multiplayer maps, having a fun time looking at all of them again...until I got to this one

Dead silent, no one there, only the ambience of wind blowing, a map that once me and my friends used to LAN on all the time, a map that used to have the craziest battles on

Completely empty...

youtube.com/watch?v=tSiFU31bRDA

>searching endlessly for games
>so many old games you'll never play again because they're no fun without a community around them

>going onto mod sites
>find old maps for TF2
>they don't function/load correctly with current TF2 after years of updates
>map creators are long gone
>site is dead or close to it and the few people that may be there are into other, newer games
>so these maps will never be brought up to date with current TF2

post more abandoned/deserted places

halo 1 looks so fucking cool

You gotta live in the now, friend. If you're playing a game you enjoy, know that you need to savor it because it's only temporary. It's trite, but true. Treat nostalgia as a happy thing.

if you say so

These slay me.w

Our current lives feel empty, we are small and insignificant, there are things far greater than us, our lives are pointless in this vast universe, our existence brief and the only thing preventing us from ending the decaying of our souls are those soon to be lost memories of a time long gone where we could be careless and somewhat happy.

At least that's for my case.

>tumblr filename

I don't even remember this map's name since so few servers ever played it

The "now" is shit.

B-But having less people running around makes it more realistic.

>caring about filenames for images that probably literally just came off of google.

>Nobody can set foot inside Loc Lac City ever again
>No more chatting with your best buds and posting quests
>No more screams of pure terror when Deviljho invades a quest
>No more bragging about getting your first Alatreon weapon with purple sharpness
>No more laughing at the Phantom Uraagan then getting rolled to death

Living in the now doesn't work anymore. The only redeeming value in today's "now" is that it'll be slightly less shit than the next one.

I remember playing this in TFC

>being one of the few to make it to the safe room while everyone outside of it gets nuked

felt good man

shouting from laughter

kys

>less people
its fewer people you illiterate fuckstick.
Less for things you cannot count.
Fewer for things that you can.

>server reset
Srs? I logged on last year, still had all my stuff.
>tfw psu blew ass
>tfw pso2 just doesn't capture the feel anymore
>tfw nobody who used to play will play because they're waiting on an American release that will never, EVER come
And it doesn't have anything to do with the anime tie-ins and endless monetizing they do. I'm just getting old.

same but I do remember playing it often

>downloaded the map of my favorite Minecraft server before it shutdown

>they're all gone now
>every house is empty
>all the crops are dead
>the village I lived in was far away from anyone else, so I rarely saw anything outside of it
>sometimes I still fly around looking for all the wonders of the world I missed
It really is just amazing, one day you find a replica of the titanic, the next you find an out house at least ten minutes away from any other civilization. Though it's weird being there without talking to my old Minecraft friends.

Oh that map I remember that shit it was great.

>tumblrinas.

That shit
That shit right there broke my heart

>Less for things you cannot count.
>"

Post the map for download.

>8 years ago i got tf2
>6 years ago i met a friend in a server
>today we're still great friends who play on an almost-daily basis, we both have jobs now and have visited each other irl
>mfw thinking about this

>log in to 2b2t
>still all have my stuff and my base is untouched some 2 years after I stopped playing
I walked out a good 50,000 blocks. It took a LONG goddamn time. I set up a few minibases along the way just to replenish my watermelon supply, then demolished them when I was done.

>Tfw used to play on a surf server in CS Source
>Played on it from 2006 till CSGO came out
>Go back to it on Friday, thinking it will be populated at about 5 P.M.
>0 players online
I checked again yesterday, same time, still dead. Why does this happen? I honestly feel depressed from this.

kys

Is this true

did you suck his dick?

This would've been a lot more emotional if it was made in an actually dead game

this is bait

did he ded

its almost like "LESS THAN" is a very specific term separate from the word "LESS" itself.

>THERE WAS LESS RAIN YESTERDAY
not
>THERE WAS FEWER RAIN YESTERDAY
BECAUSE YOU CAN'T COUNT THE RAIN, CUNT.

>THERE ARE FEWER PEOPLE PLAYING
not
>THERE ARE LESS PEOPLE PLAYING
BECAUSE YOU CAN COUNT THE CUNTS, CUNT.

who the fuck cares, both of you

TF2 has been zombie status for a long time. Overwatch is killing it.
Valve is trying to be competitive now but it's too little too late. They wasted way too much time resting on their laurels.

Just admit you were trying to sound smart and fucked up at it.

>lived out in the sticks
>never had internet that was good enough to play online multiplayer
>everything out here is at least a dozen miles away from anything else
>so no one to play local multiplayer with
>always feel like I've missed out in these threads
>still live out in the sticks and have never played a single game online before

>make a new thread
>no one posts in it
>weird sense of loneliness

Go sperg out somewhere else. We're trying to get depressed over video games in here.

>everyone and everything is all about try-hard esports now

I enjoy try-harding in GO competitive but damn if cs wasn't a lot more fun/addictive back then

>Post MH3 Monster Hunter will never be like it once was
>Monster Hunter is just basically Japan's Call of Duty now

stop

That reminds me of SWAT 4 for some reason.

Do kids these days even play outside anymore?
With all the technology around and all.

...

Reminder that new games force you to *buy* sprays now.
