I'm working on something similar to DK1 and i'd like peoples input on what they want in it.

PS. Majesty is alright game.

add gay demons

has to have necromancy. Not enough games have necromancy

Make it one map that just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Why bother? War For The Overworld did it perfectly >:^)

>Make it one map that just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
Alright. Why?

We both know that's a lie and that your living in a dream world neo.

WHat was wrong with it?

I've always wanted to just dig to the surface, sending my lesser creatures to pave the path, while my monstrous armies are guarding my expanding domain. The higher we breach, the more armies get involved. First just dwarven scouting parties, but as your power grows the even the elves and humans send their soldiers and heroes of legend enter into your dungeon to put an end to the rampage.

It would just be massively increasing difficulty without having to completely restart every match from scratch. Enemies constantly scaling and growing in size, the search for gold never ending, and your hordes advancing through major breaches with elites leading the charges and holding chokepoints.

gender neutral mosnter bathrooms for sure

If you can't get the atmosphere right then don't bother. That's the hardest part to get right and a lot of it has to do with extreme polish.

and humanoids for creatures are really boring.

It's like they looked at all the bad parts of DK2 and thought that's what people loved.

endless mode I guess

What you mean like actual necromancers or rooms to do necromancy in?

Don't forget First Person gameplay option. It was the best!

It ain't DK without it.

Show us the under-underworld where the creatures come from

Don't they crawl out from a portal?

damn dungeon keeper was such a good fucking game. I still remember that opening intro with the knight and the demon dude (CANT REMEMBER HIS NAME WTF), was so cash though

Nice dark theme
Lots of interesting demons to summon and use as FPS.

you'll also have to do an amazing job on sounds cause 90% of what I remember from DK is the sounds.

Also
+1

Make it not medieval
Make it 80's horror movie themed.
The monsters are Things, killer clowns, devil toys and puppets, japanese ghosts, The Crow-like vampires etc...
The heroes are kids and teens at first, then scooby-gang like, then cops, military and ultimately, Ash or Machete-likes.

Yeah, do this and you'll have 1 customer, this user.

>implying this isn't THE trend to do for the next 10 years

and if you're doing this for customer, make it a free-to-play app with is both a card game and a arena shooter

rooms for necromancy/necromancy minions, undead, etc

I think playing through War For The Overworld puts DK in perspective nicely. You don't want to make another WFTO if you want to emulate DK.

DK was a dungeon management sim first, RTS second, with a comfy pace and a focus on meeting the needs of the different monsters coming in. WFTO is not a bad game, but it feels more like lackluster RTS / raiding game with DK mechanics management tacked on.

The pace is much too frantic. Too many monsters moving too fast, missions often throwing an army at you so fast that you don't have time to plan your dungeon.
There's a much diminshed need to pamper monsters. I never once caught a monster bitching about not being paid or fighting with another monster type. The happiness system seems to be there, but it is pointless.
Resouce management is out the window. Every single mission had a shrine for unlimited money. No need to ever prioritize where and where to spend money.

DK had lackluster combat, but it provided a goal for the dungeon and monster roster you spent comfy hours managing. WTFO marginally improved the combat system, but basically threw out what make DK worth spending hours playing.

To my knowledge its basically dk3, if dk3 was made a year after dk2. Theres little to no improvement, and most everything is reskins. Its not bad, its just unimpressive i guess. I still like it though

》dark mistress

Ah, So Majesty style with a temple that attracts necromancers and can do all that sort of thing.

Yeah, I've got a few ideas for that now.

hope your game turns out well user

You can't do worse than what EA did.

But in a more serious answer I want Dungeon Keeper themed Evil Genius. You build your dungeon, keep the "heroes" at bay with traps and tricks, and send your minions out to be evil. The whole "take area by area" in pre designed maps was cool and good for level design and balance, but Evil Genius with the two core bases that you attacked from over the course of the story instead of shifting your base constantly felt more evil overlord. Constant frontier bases is Evil Lieutenant at best, not Overlord tier.

you're never gonna finish it

Only time will tell.

Nah.

>You can't do worse than what EA did.

Pretty much.

This.

I always thought it would have been interesting if you had to collect resources before specific traps could be made. A poison trap for example would require imps harvesting sulfur or a bolder trap requiring stone. Having to cycle through traps and doors until it created the specific one you had intentions for was always a small gripe of mine.
