So what's your opinion on Elite Dangerous? I read some mixed views on it and was wondering if it'd make me happy, if I wanted a modern freelancer-like space sandbox game which I could play with a friend.

It's probably the closet thing to freelancer right now. It functions as a space trucker simulator better than a space combat simulator but fuck me is the game comfy as hell.

It's shit.

It's pretty comfy but can get boring quickly. Worth if you can find it for 20-30% off.

I've been playing it for over 200 hours in the last month. Absolutely fucking love it. I love space. I love space ships.
Trading, mining, exploring, getting new ships, running missions, bounty hunting, piracy, its all fun to me.
It can be a bit repetitive but if you love those things, you will still enjoy it.
Also, a HOTAS helps.

>HOTAS
?

love it or hate it. You need solid dosage of autism to truly love it, any "story" content is mmo-tier and there is maybe five different station models.

It's solid space sandbox with absolutely amazing sound design and a lot of comfiness inside. I don't think you can get bored of it after less than 30 hours, and i guess even 30 hours of great space sim is worth the money.

>Literally Grinding: The Game

If you like comfy simulators, it'll be perfect.
If you expect fast paced, space action with lots of variety, this game is not for you.

Hands On Throttle And Stick. If you're on the PC anyway.

what does HOTAS mean when you're not on PC?

Lies, the space combat is fine if you go for it.
You may not get a lot of money from it but it's sure satisfying.

This, grind killed it for me though I've been thinking of giving it another go

Any exploits around to cheat some cash? Ship prices are absurd

I use this one, it's affordable and worth it.

It means you have a hot ass

Sorry, I meant you can use one of those if you are on the PC. I don't know if you can hook one up to the console version.

Fucking love this thing. Just wish I had more of an opportunity to use it. ED bored me after a while.

Pretty fun game, the best sound design of any game i played, combat is fun but everything gets repetitive after a while

cobra mkIII is cheap, and it's good little multi-purpose ship.
>two big railguns
>two small lasers
>lasers are breaking shields in moments
>railguns needs two-three hits to murder anything that's not anaconda

and yeah, there is a lot of exploits. players are contantly finding stations with retarded prices and you can get couple million credits on a single flight

BEEN GRINDING FOR FUCKING AGES FOR THE CORVETTE

Yeah I know I had the cobra in beta.

Where can I find out where those bugs and spots are?

My experience so far
>grinded a python
>just bought it, on my way of my home system a bored player blast my ass off out of nowhere.
>still hoping that he gets brain cancer

Start from scratch, had no money for insurance because i just did grind the money for the ship

>grind fer de lance
>release patch that turned npc difficult from 4 at best up to 11 and broke the dial
>get ass blasted a couple of times too much even doing smaller ships
>ran out of insurance money
>start from scratch again

Fuck this orange coloured shit in a brown background hue

But apart from my bashing, it os a technically sound game, very well made. But feels very very empty. I played X Rebirth before it and felt like i went from a crowded party to a lonely park stroll

>starting from scratch
>not taking a loan on the rebuy screen and getting your shit back at the cost of 10% of your income until its paid back
OK.

I've played it off and on since release. As a space game its fun. The combat CAN be rewarding........

BUUUUUUUTTTTTT

The grind is beyond fucking stupid. You literally cannot enjoy the game to its fullest without the best ships in the game.

I was a trader (space trucker if you will) and the devs could not make ships work the way they should have. Trading ships sucked ass compared to multi-role ships. IE the Type-9 Heavy (which is a large-class ship), which theoretically should have been the biggest and the best trading ship, gets outclassed by a medium multi-role ship. Trading ships could not do long distance traveling (you know unlike big rigs that are designed to carry fuel for long distances)

Some ships are not only locked behind MASSIVE money grind walls, but rank wall grinds as well.

The game is dying for a reason.

>You literally cannot enjoy the game to its fullest without the best ships in the game.
>implying fighting in agile/fragile/fast eagle is not best thing you can do in ED

No Man's Sky is far better

Nigga, you gay.

Real men fly a winder with no shield and pulse lasers.

Casualfags or players with +300 hours shitting on the game in Steam. It's actually pretty interesting and comfy if you're not impatient. Average player age is higher than many games and active players are really helpful to new players (except some pirating roleplayers). DO IT.

You know i was gonna wait for star citizen but i think am gonna go with this.

either this or buy a VR set and play that new eve simulation game.

Elite dangerous looks like the only real choice.
