what happened to VR? why does no one talk about it anymore?
What happened to VR? why does no one talk about it anymore?
overpriced shitty gimmick
only retards with too much money on their hands got duped into it
Marketing departments stopped paying for posts.
Everyone who got suckered into buying one quickly realized that all the games out there are horrendously overpriced gimmicks. Its like paying $40 for some smartphone "apps" just because VR is a feature
Because you're not going to the places where people who have the headsets go to and there's nothing for people who don't have them to talk about. It came out and you can go get one if you want. It's not a revolutionary 100% adoption or forced on your face situation where you could expect to see it all over Sup Forums every day. The vast majority of people don't have these devices, so why would the vast majority of people talk about them?
If you're interested then go look into it.
oculus is dead in the water
vive to expensive
psvr not out
Playstation VR hasn't been released yet.
>poverty computer mustard race in charge of not being bitter neetrats
this is word for word something somebody said about computers
Literally no games. Only shovelware is released so there is no reason to buy one, proper games won't be released since the install base is like 200 000 people or something. Too bad since it actually is kind of cool. The Vive should have been only headtracking and the immersive headset though, roomscale was a mistake, any attempt to do a proper games with it results in teleport movement.
Vive's owner here.
I really like Vanishing Realms, Final approach and Vector 36
Because there is no relevant content. Just endless expensive indie tech demos. Wait for PSVR for some actual games, and then a couple of HMD gens for the hardware to improve, and for developers to figure out better ways to create VR games and solve issues like movement.
VR is really expensive right now.
No games yet because developers don't know if they can justify the extra cost of adding VR capability.
Give it a year. It's going to take tools being built into existing game engines.
I am really enjoying Chair in a Room, it's so cheaply made but showcases what's possible.
HTC is currently providing funds for startups that want to do VR.
>Millenials really thought VR will take off AGAIN
that shit failed in the nineties for a reason and it will fail now
VR too expensive
Devs can't justify adding VR because no one can afford VR
VR dies and goes away forever like a stale meme.
So you never tried a Vive then?
I recently bought one and I was saying the same shit till I got it and holy fuck it's crazy.
Least everyone I showed it to wanted to buy their own or was at least completely blown away by it.
I do feel it is really pricey but it definitely isn't a gimmick and can end up making some really cool gameplay experiences. Just right now it's so new there isn't much out there.
But I have enough games for it to where I am really happy with where I am at.
>0.0006$ has been added to your account.
The materials cost about 200$ for 1 Rift.
The developing costs money but after that the prices start going down. Theres nothing real stopping it becoming mainstream over time.
I bought a Vive a few months ago and started developing for it as a hobby, now I make $60k in the vidya industry and know a bunch of celebrities just from how small the dev community was. Cool what you can accomplish when you aren't a worthless bitter NEET. You all missed the boat though lol
PSVR the only relevant VR headset is yet to be released. PC cant stand on their own and the headsets prove this.
The boat hasn't even sailed yet.
>Wanting to jump on a Titanic deliberately
Bon voyage.
the $800 has paid itself back about 30x already ;^)
how many people naysaying vr have tried vr
not like gear vr or cardboard
like a proper rift or a vive
Premium quality bait.
In my experience, less than 10%.
Got a vive as well. Vanishing Realms is by far my favorite. If there's a string of RPGs on that level at least I'll be happy.
Final Approach was cool but I refunded it, I could tell I wouldn't play it for long, need to check out Vector 36.
One of my other favorite games is out of ammo.
What does Sup Forums think about Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Hand grenades?
There needs to be an armored core/virtual on asap.
Valve should have made a AAA game for steamVR. They let us down, you cant justify an $800 peripheral with indie games and tech demos.
Gamers like me are inherently lazy. I cannot be bothered setting up the thing for bite sized pieces of content. Right now I only use it for porn.
Fallout 4 VR will be the one to watch.
Kikebook happened
Gimmicks
It's just shooting, right?
You'll get bored quick imo.
I am thinking about raw data.
No one on this poor shitboard can afford it.
