Why is platinum the comfiest Pokemon game?

Sinnoh is a really nice region
Because it's DP with a better regional dex, more postgame content, and isn't slow as fuck.
SAVING A LOT OF DATA
is there a reliable 3ds emulator to play the latest versions?
Also, I've replayed diamond lately. Which one should I play next, preferably a newer one.
>comfiest
>that retarded mountain in the middle of the fucking map
Just gimme a second, i need to teach my pokemon a hundread HMs so i can go through it.
No, just buy a cheap one and pirate everything
I've found out while replaying that it only does that when you use the box, so it's s lot less annoying now that I know how to stop it.
It's not as slow as DP but Platinum is still one of the slower games in the franchise.
Don't forget that it expands on Team Galactic a bit and introduces the Distortion World, that was some neat shit.
That's not how you spell silver user
buy an emulator? why would I do that
thats not silver at my grandmas house in the rain in the spring of 2002
HG/SS and B2/W2
There's no reason to play any others unless you want to be disappointed
Also just pointing this out, Platinum really brings out the best of Sinnoh by making it less slow as shit
Seriously DIamond and Pearl were so slow I don't know how I was okay with them on release
either buy a used 2ds and cfw it up or buy a used n3ds xl and cfw it up. pray to god they're not up to date
still the pinnacle of Pokemon music.
This so much.
I don't know what it is about Johto that makes it so comfy.
Even HGSS were pretty good in that regard.
I'm really not invested enough in buying anything
3ds dumbass
I loved the third and fourth generations the most.
I don't remember how many hours I spent doing the underground shit trying to get a crandios
I really do hope that if we get to the point that it needs a remake, that they get the shit right unlike ORAS.
Team Galactic is my favorite
Also giratina's world and battle theme are my favorites in the series
Gen 4 had great music all around, but I especially loved the night time music tracks. So fucking good.

>tfw found soulsilver at a local pawn shop for $20
>tfw reliving childhood memories
>tfw sudowoodo
Only DPP song I liked was Eterna City theme
I hope they learn from their mistakes with ORAS, AND if they remake DP, they incorporate shit from Platnium. Removing Emerald content from the Gen 3 remakes was a mistake. Especially post game Steven.
>they remake DP
>no fire types
How could you not like the theme of the pokemon devil?
youtube.com
I think Cyrus has the best boss theme
Agreed, though it should be mentioned the battle themes were fairly underwhelming. Godly overworld music.
That's why you use the Platinum Dec, and lazily introduce Sinnoh Forms for 'mons previously not found in Sinnoh.
This and B/W were the apex of the franchise.
I was a bit confused by this so I looked up the pokedex
>Rapidash and Infernape are the only fire types
wtf
>comfiest
I'd give that honor to XY.
But yes, if it were about the best game, then the answer would be all of 5th gen + Platinum.
DP has a really fucked up Regional Dex. They fixed it in Plat.
I kinda liked Pearl.
But that's probably because it was my first pkmn since red/blue
Honestly it's just that diamond/pearl were SO FUCKING BAD that platinum is so much better. Kinda like emerald, although the gap between emerald and r/s is not as huge as between platinum and d/p.
Why did they stop doing those definitive versions anyway?
>you can catch a Gible straight after the second gym
I havr only one problem with poke'mon games
How do you deal with random encounters? They always in every game I've played gets frustrating real quick, they should make them optional, Like when you dash poke'mon dont jump you.
i think after platinum blew diamond/pearl out of the water in terms of reception they figured people were fucking pissed that they'd spend money on one of the first two games so they just stopped doing them, hence why for black and white they made actual sequels instead of a "definitive version"
use repels dumbass
I broke my DS after playing Platinum, I'm emulating pokemon black now. I can't believe it's old by now, feels like yesterday that I played it.
Emerald will always be closest to my heart though.
Repels
You end the game with the money to buy like 50 Revives and Full Restores. Money isn't a problem.
I wish they made it so you can catch dragon types earlier on
I remember third gen you had to wait until you got waterfall before even being able to get a Bagon
because jubilife city
That's not black/white
Only reason why Platinum shines is because it fixed all the shit that was wrong with DP, those fucking games were horrible arguably the worst in the series besides XY and the originals, and I only consider the originals bad because they are outdated and aged horribly.
Even so I can't bring myself to like Platinum because of the bad experience with DP
They're costly and a hassle to use in the first couple dozen hours, which is when most of story happens.
Use them to level you mons, you mong handler.
Then use an action replay code for no encounters. Otherwise you're out of options.
Dragon types started out as "that Pokemon Lance uses that resists every elemental type (except it's secretly weak to Ice so it's a puzzle boss you see)". Dragon Pokemon tend to be what the endgame trainers use, and it's a powerful type by default, so having access to them late in the game only makes sense. They're still pretty overwhelming for the early game, especially since you usually don't have access to any Ice shit early on, but things have been changing on the game balance front over time, like with the introduction of Fairy.

Same with ice types. I'm pretty sure gen 5 games are the only ones to date where you can get ice types early enough that they are usable.
I have a strange relationship with DPP. I think its the most bland looking and slow battling gen, so much so I have only beaten it LEGIT my first playthrough as opposed to multiple times in all other Gens (Other times I used the walk thru walls cheat to speed though).
HOWEVER, it has the best remake in HGSS, which fixed the battle speed and bland look complaints, my favorite Mon (Lucario), and the best Champion.
I want to say I think its the worst, but I am also looking foward to the inevitable remakes.
TLDR; I AM SO CONFUSED!
>Why is platinum the comfiest Pokemon game?
Because the overworld music motif is Jazz and Jazz is an inherently comfy music style.
Platinum had the same engine as HG/SS. It was only D/P that were beyond unplayable.
Give Platinum another shot since you've only played it once user.
Pokemon is like Touhou, it's all good except for the games.
I can't get into it now, and I loved this all those years ago.
It was fucking great but right now the only RPGs I can stand are usually Dragon Quest or some PS1 stuff.
agreed
And there is no doubt that Cynthia's theme is pretty dope.
youtube.com
Although I prefer the Black2/White2 version of it
kanto was a radioactive and toxic shithole
johto was pretty much kanto- a comfy rural japanese area- minus the cancer.
Forgot my link
Because Literally no good reason this should be posted here and not there
The games are the only part of Pokemon worth a damn. The anime has always been garbage, and you're retarded if you do the Pokemon TCG.
i can't play any gen4 game after gen5 anymore
shit is just too slow for me
Thats what annoyed me about hg/ss so much. It takes forever to get into a fight.
Why do people love B2/W2 so much? I tried playing through it and the endless dialogue and horrible looking pokemon made me quit after ~4 hours.
Delta emerald a best
>which fixed the battle speed
no it fucking didn't
I have not replayed anything from gen 4 even once because the game engine almost killed my interest in the series
>very fast battles
>good postgame content
sure the story is terrible but once you're done with it
its a great game
best world design and art/terrain
Definitely the worst thing in Pokemon
>Played D/P
>Loved it
>Never played Platinum
Is it really that better? Same with B2/W2?
I really dislike how much dialogue and story is in the new pokemon, i hated it in B/W as well. You cant enter a city without 3 annoying kids coming up to you and babbling for half an hour.
>not using a bidoof as an HM slave
yes
the new games are more story focused
however i liked the little techinical details they added
like having a red X button to leave the menu whenever you wanted
or not having to go back to the menu to use a max repel
yeah I don't know why they decided to make evil organizations such a big deal in the first two gens team rocket was just kinda their as a minor annoyance but 3 and up we're on a quest to save the world and oh yeah battle gyms and stuff
Platinum and BW2 are both two of the strongest games in the series. I would personally say Black 2 was my favorite just for all the extra stuff like the world tournament and join avenue, but sadly the online features don't work for either game now so some features are less than they would otherwise be.
Both are absolutely worth a play though.
Why was Shaymin an event? that was bullshit
Have anyone tried to just get their main to 100 and beat everyTHING with it?
I remember doing it with leafgreen GBA, some other game where you're some gym leader's son and find your main in a cave, and B2.
It's possible, I beat elite4 and champion that way,
you can use other pokemon to soak hits while you revive/full restore the main
come to think of it, I also had to spam items.
you nailed what my problem is, why is becoming the champ and catching them all just a side objective in the new ones. Im afraid its gonna get even worse in the new game with gyms being completely revamped.
how are D/P slow and how did platinum fix it? I've never understood why people say they're slow.
I'm not a Pokemon (anime, cards, toys) fan and I never played any of these games. Should I try it?
Right? I would love for contests to be revamped and more side quests. Also don't make catching legendaries to be a requirement and let us to be able to find them on our own and not a requirement to beating the game.
Spot on except Yellow and Crystal both belong in Outdated/Nostalgia tier.
>yfw Barry shows up to help you on Spear Pillar
music
The Animations were new, so GF experimented with them and they ended up with like 1-2 seconds of dead time when things happened, so it felt slower. Plat just cut the hangtime out if i remember correctly.
The battles themselves moved at a super slow pace. If you were to 1HKO a Blissey you'd be sitting there for like 40 seconds waiting for its HP to run down.
...
HIIIIIIRRRRROOOOOOO
what happened to my image
I've been playing X, friend playing Y and just hanging out on Mumble and talking away, trading shit to each other that we don't have and stuff. When we're done with this, we'll move on to OR/AS and do the same. It's a real breath of fresh air considering all the shit released lately, actually chilling and enjoying a game is something I've not done in years.
If you don't own anything older than X/Y then have a look at those inflated prices due to pokemon Go, fuck me in the ass they're so expensive.
I just left the thread where the thumbnail is from.
It's kinda funny, you can see the full image as a 4th panel.
Just finished Eternal X and Rutile Ruby, any good difficulty hacks for Platinum?
Any time you selected an action in battle and/or text scrolled you were looking at half a second of nothing happening. Any time you waited for an attack animation to happen you were looking at another half second wasted. Same thing when the animation ended and the HP bar starter scrolling down... slloooowwwllly.
Plus the game was super sluggish in the overworld as well, the only thing remedying it was that you could now run inside buildings too
Gen 5 is lightning fast with everything in comparison
So if I want to get a 3DS generation Pokemon game, what's the best to go with? Mind you I absolutely loved Black 2 and its postgame content and that's kind of the thing I'm looking for.
>X and Y?
>ORAS?
>Wait for Sun and Moon?
I'd rather they just do a digital re-release of Platinum with the events built in and an improved game engine.
I haven't played a Pokemon game since B/W2, but if the leak of the water starters evo in sun/moon turns out to be real, I'll buy it just for the faps.
I fucking love dusclops
Nintendo told them to cut it out since people were starting to hold off on buying the original releases and just waiting for the third version.
