well considering Emulators are essentially simulating hardware on a software level it's no surprise that it requires tons more resources. Yes there is optimization but even that took a while for the Gamecube emulators to run well and even then most people run their emulators on decent to good hardware in new modern hardware to the point it doesn't even matter anymore.
