F-Zero was still an active series when the first Smash Bros. was made. F-Zero X came out in 1998, a handful of months before the first Smash came out.

Fire Emblem was only irrelevent in America before Marth an Roy were added to Melee. In Japan it was always a popular and long running series that even had an OVA. It's worth noting that Sakurai was originally going to cut them out for the NA release.

Just revamp Lucy's moveset so that it more acurately derives from Awakening and Project X Zone 2; sure it'd be like mixing Ike & Mii Swordfighter, but at least it'd be original and I get to keep my main. Casual Lucina as a costume would be neato too.

most of those characters are fine though, just needs buffs or slight tweaks, not overhauls - hell, melee shows jigglypuff can work fine in her current iteration

the only real overhauls needed are for Palutena (give her her customs as default), Sonic (make him at least somewhat fun to play against) and Zelda (never had any synergy with anything, was broken from Melee onwards)

Nah, Wario, yoshi, and falcon would be OP, characters feel more close to how they do in their original game this way.
