I did and had lots of fun with the awesome movement and melee combat until it turned into a massive grindfest moneygrab. One day I started crafting something that was going to take three goddamn realtime days to craft and I just never went back.

Played it like 3 years ago. Had some fun dropped it.

Picked it back up like 2 years later, played a shorter amount of time then dropped it.

Then just got back into it like 2 weeks ago. Bought some platinum since the game gave me 80 hours and was worth giving the devs at least a few bucks for.

Because I burned out.
I played that game like possessed for two months but then I suddenly stopped and haven't had any urge to go back.

Because it's only good for the porn.

I heard nothing but bad about it. Steered me from the game to be honest. Even people that tried to say good about it struggled and said more bad than good.

random mods for weapons that are event/time locked. i dont want to go through extra effort to get that shit i have a tough enough time keeping up with the plat for slots.

I just can't get back into it. 2000 hours in, I've used saryn from the start and after the nerf I developed a fullproof CC Tank Build for her prime. I solo t4s (or level 4 rifts or whatever the fuck they are now) up to 4 hours before losing any health. Its just spore+molt before molt again causing the spore to spread and also doing AOE damage multiplied by the spores. I have like 1.5k health and a ton of armor and people are honestly convinced I have broken the game. But as of a couple weeks ago I can't get back into it. I have every frame and wep, save for some prisma wep and excal prime, and kavats are boring. After the travesty that was the second dream, I am not looking forward to U19 at all. I actually kind of enjoy lunaro though.

Because they kicked my waiframe in the dick, continued to nerf all my favorite weapons, and increased the grindwall until it was a grind cliff while the founders and forumites suck them off day in and day out.

I'm having the urge to get back into it again lately.

Like others, I've just put so much time in and I'm burned out. I got everything I wanted and I wasn't enjoying it as much anymore. Maybe I'll go back someday because I thought for a f2p game it was extremely fair and I loved the setting, aesthetics, even the gameplay. Just got bored of it.

I need opinions, actually, because Warframe's popularity confuses me.

It is very obviously extremely grindy, the combat is simple and uninspiring, and there's no real goal in the game. It is a classic shit game that uses repetitive content shamelessly and yet it rakes in 20k players steadily.

Why do people play Warframe?

Pros:
-Looks good and runs well. Has plenty of neat effects and textures/graphics/sounds are always updated to look sleek ha and current gen. (PBR, UI, Lighting and Shaders, etc)
-Gunplay and combat is fun
-Tons of ways to style on enemies and many ways to break the game
-Constant updates and devstreams with ambitious projects and QOL changes
-Almost everything is customizable and players are given the opportunity to make skins/model overrides on steam workshop, which are voted on and put in the game.
-When you amass power through high rank mods,knowledge,levels,arcanes,and your clan, you truly feel on top of the world and you can look down on peasants who farm less efficiently/know less about the game than you

Cons
-Repetitive gameplay
-While not "p2w", the very best setups in the game required either arduous grinding and RNG or "just buy it with plat lul".
-Everything in the game can be solved with more plat and they tempt you with 50-75% off coupons on plat purchases all the time
-No endgame besides collecting all the frames/weapons/mods you can get
-No endgame in sight, with devs worrying more about new toys to give to impatient players rather than try to change the underlying foundation of the endgame
-Devs are fucking retarded and continue to believe by nerfing everything, it will make the players spend more time in missions ergo enjoy more of the game.
-The forums believe this and defend nerfs like SJWs defend rape accusers
-Grind

Totes, if you like power trip games that make you feel like a fucken god once you have taken the time to min max the stuff you like.

The amount of variety is mind numbing and staggaring for new players, combo that with the awful new player experince and it's a hard game for most people to get into. (The Wikia is your best fucken friend)

But if you want to be a bomb ass ninja who has a spartan laser primary, mini hand flame thrower secondary and a massive jet powered hammer, you can.

You wanna be a classic bow, throwing knives, and maybe some daggers, or maybe a fucken gun blade, you can.

You wanna be energy machine gun Rambo with a mini trip burst crossbow, and a massive claymore style sword, you can.

That's not even getting into frame abilities (which can utterly change how you play)

Burned out hard, xcal and valk are still unbelievably fun, but my buddy that I basically exclusively played with and me both burned out when we hit that point where void farming is all that's left.
Also doesn't help that most of the shit I was interested in got vaulted over the 6 months I was playing.
Warframe is fun as shit, I may go back to it in the future, still have to get Ivara chassis

yea there's a lot of ways to play, but once you get to the endgame there are very few viable frames, mods and weapons.

Because I got 3 frames I liked maxed out with a gorillion Forma and mods, a few frames I only use for situational things, 4 weapons modded to fuck and one with maximum Forma and mods (Opticor 4 lyf), several secondaries finished, and the only melee weapon I had any interest in (Redeemer) Forma/Modded to fuck.

Once I had all the stuff I wanted fully done there was no point in grinding for shit I didn't even want so I stopped playing.

Because how well you do depends fucking entirely on what mods you have/what level you are.

It's the same thing that borderlands did and I fucking hate it. It just means the game isn't actually hard in a fair way, but in a "Oh, you have good mods? GG" or "Or, you don't have good mods? Enjoy having enemies kill you in one shot and everything else taking a million"

It's no fun like that.

Depends on what you consider endgame, if your endgame is sorties than shit tons of stuff is viable. If it's 100+ waves on a defense or 3hrs+ on tycho then yeah shit narrows down. It's a game with more options than I feel people give it credit for.

I am. Just reached Mastery Rank 10 and there's still a ton of stuff left for me to get. Game is super fun but only in short bursts sprinkled throughout the week like once or twice I guess.

It is the quintessential early access game.

The game itself is shitty grindy 3rd person diablo in space. You play to get stronk and destroy mooks faster. That's it.

However, what keeps people playing and why it's still successful even with this terrible endgame is simply because it's a work in progress.

I'll try to explain.
Imagine an update in an MMO or shooter.
"Greetings players, we've rolled out update 1.0.0.5, which adds a new map/arena! Come check out ______ and take a look at the new skins to celebrate this map!"
"Greetings, the new raid ___ of _______ has released! Conquer the dungeon and get some tasty loot and a chance for tier __ weapons and armor!"

Every update, every addition is simply a small change to the code for the developers of these games. MMOs and shooters are designed ground-up to add content as "packs" and the very core of the game is never touched.

This is where Warframe shines. It started off small: Guns n swords in space. Then it started adding more. New guns. New effects. Explosive weapons. Stuff to make existing weapons explode. Frames that alter planes of existence. FUCKING SPACE MODE. Warframe has gone through so many changes that it is almost unrecognizable to when it first started off 3 years ago.

CHANGE is why people play Warframe. It's exciting. And this is why DE's wild ride never ends. Because it's never the same ride

Archwing sucks though. I still don't have Limbo because of the fucking archwing quests that are required to get the frame.

There's nothing to do aside from the 2 or 3 raids and playing the market once you build what you want.

Because it's a shit game I spent more than a thousand hours on, having played since closed beta, but eventually not even Warbros could make it for me. With their death and the subsequent gutting of the game it was finally over. Now neck yourself and take your shilling with you.

Archwing sucks when you start out. You have no mods and Hellion troops are bullshit with their homing missles.

However like most of the game, keep playing and it starts getting gud. And by gud i mean easy farming.

Getting elytron and maxing it with good mods lets you put down a huge field of fuck you, and you can stack this 4+ times on any location on the map. This means solo intereception. You literally press 3 to afk and go hide somewhere for like 50 seconds, or macro it so you can take a shit while you gain levels.

Velocitus is the best single target archwing gun in the game and you pretty much 6 shot space golem with it. Other guns like Fluctus or the basic Imperator are godlike at clearing trash.

Itzal can warp miles at a time and can suck up loot and enemies while making yourself and anyone around you invisible, so if you have an ely who's afk farming a point, you can suck up enemies/loot while ely kills and no one dies because everyone is invisible.

When you get to the point where you have a good weapon and levelled archwing, you don't mind going in as much because it feels just as powerful as your frame if not moreso.

They still exist in some form, but it's not even a shadow of their former glory, more like an echo of an echo. Not worth your or anyone else's time.

because its literally the best third person shooter f2p mmo game on the market? theres literally no competition, the polish of graphics and gameplay is essentially that of a tripple A game. You are also discrediting the game play far too much, lots of weapons have unique properties and play styles, along with the well executed parkour and interesting frames.

Let's be honest, it's pretty buggy. But for the most part, I agree with you. I definitely wouldn't call the game "shit", however it does have some pretty big underlying problems that will take a lot of work to fix. But it is a good game.

You can play it, and not get invested enough to feel bummed out about it sucking. Growing powerful enough to nuke the starmap missions are already what most forumites consider "endgame" and it doesn't take really all that long either. Most of the frames can be farmed within 30 minutes tops.

Boring progression system, leveling and re-leveling the same weapons/frames to level 30.

Also, mastery rank doesn't really do anything or make you powerful. Random drops are cards, making it feel like Hearthstone.

its actually true for most MMO(ish) games, its cool when you start, but then its just repetetive grind and no endgame, so you play it for a month or two and move on, if you stick with it it starts to frustrate more than entertain, thus there are all the paradoxical
