How comfy is the remote play? Is it worth picking up?

Also general star ocean thread

Reddit doesn't like Japanese stuff unless it's a meme.
I would also like to know if it's worth buying.

>Is it worth picking up?

I'm planning on picking it up. Japs didnt really like it but it's a rare japanese rpg at this point, no male loli shit (no no kuni), no fujoshit (tales of), no turbo virgin weeboo bait (neptunia). just straight forward manliness.

Long time star ocean fan here.

I got bored very quickly.

Up to you if you want to buy it or not.

It's truly and honestly shit

>no turbo virgin weeboo bait
Leaving aside whether this is a bad thing or not, you just posted Fiore.

Emmerson and Anne are the only tolerable characters, and the game is a 20 hour broken skillspam fest

agreed. game is 70% side quests 20% story 10% holding O in combat

ive been disappointed for the last time

That's what I was afraid of. I'm a huge fan of the series. The first two remade on psp are probably my favorite games.
And I actually loved 3.

One of the reason I bought a ps4 was to remote play star ocean when it came out. I haven't got it yet because I heard it was only 20 hours.

Not even looking at how long it is to complete the game.

Its just the gameplay is so boring.
You just spam the same skill over and over.

For once I wish I could I will play a new JRPG that is accepted by Sup Forums.

Classic JRPGs have by and large been dead for a while.

There have been some good Indies and few ok ones on Vita but there few and far between.

Sad times

Not gonna happen, even JRPG fans usually split into camps. You've got your Atelier moeblobs, your DRPG grinders, your cute-anime-girls vs manly-men camps, your Compile Heart folks and Falcom autists, your people who only play Fire Emblem and Persona, etc.

Finding one modern JRPG that most of Sup Forums agrees is good is pretty unlikely

I've honestly never touched any atelier or neptunia games even though 60% of JRPGs released are from those two series.

I like anime and even ok some moe stuff but those game seem to go so fucking overboard I'd don't think I could enjoy them. As a fan of top down shitty sprite games aesthetics are at the bottom of my list when it comes to games so that's saying something when I'm put off by how a game looks.

It's basically the perfect example of a decent to good game. It's a game made up of good, great things, and bad things. The only thing I will say to defend it is that it had a small budget and comparing it to a game like TW3 (which some reviewers absolutely did) is a false comparison.

I can talk about it if you like, I'm at the last boss.

Unless it play's into Sup Forums's memes, you won't. Even then, Sup Forums has a sizable faction of true westacucks and shitposters who find westacucking hilarious, who will shit up the threads regards. Even recettear isn't hands-off anymore.

Just play whatever looks fun to you. If you have fun with it, who gives a rats ass what we say about it? We can't stop you. The most we can do is spoil shit you haven't played out of spite.

Honestly if they could make games like the first two but with HD sprites and highly updated engines I would happy to play them as fast as they could make them.

I'm kinda sad handheld s are so powerful now. They were the last refuge of traditional RPGs and games in general. There gone now...

Bump with Titty monster

I got this at about the same time as Kowashitai, and that was an infinitely more enjoyable game. I haven't even managed to finish this despite it supposedly being really short.

>I've honestly never touched any atelier or neptunia games even though 60% of JRPGs released are from those two series.
Did you mean to say final fantasy and dragon warrior?

This ain't the 00s anymore. Where have you been?

Last bump before I download it

I liked this game a lot. Put about 150 hours into it for the plat

Coming from what it took to Plat SO4, 150 hours is pretty fucking short.

Damn

>Meh to good tier

More like shit to meh tier.

Star Ocean cannot be saved, such a pity.

Other than the shit dub and slightly cringe story why did everyone bitch about 4 so much?

>So I assume that means it Meh to good tier
It's bad to awful tier. The second half of the story revolves around rescuing the same characters repeatedly, from the same bad guys.

this game proves that star ocean 2 was a fluke, sadly
