Not impossible. I play solo because I don't have friends and ranked 46. Climbed to 60 and I stopped giving a fuck so I'm down to 57 with zero fucks given. Rewards are based on max rank so I'm already getting 200 sheckles. I just need a few more wins then the season bonus will get me 300 so I can buy a golden weapon.

Mercy has a big fucking head. No really her head/face stands out more than anything.

I got to 71 but after that's it's imposible because every time you play the stupid matchmaking will put you against a premade of top 500 + lvl 50 smurf and you get a team full of level 60 shitters

Nah, it's not impossible. I got placed 49 with 5\5 matches, then got to 57 bretty easily solo queueing. and then my ps+ sub ended
I played mostly zen, soldier\reaper and winston, sometimes lucio and roadhog. Funny enough, average skill in quickplays is way higher than anyone's I encounered in comps (highest I've seen was 62 or something), so it's not a big deal to get to 60 I guess.

Who's a carry character other than Zarya? Reinhardt?

zarya, tracer, genji, d.va, and zenyatta

It feels like Multiplayer games are in conflict with solo players. Lack of dedicated servers, and forced matchmaking means you need to bring friends if you want to have fun.

League did it, Overwatch and DOTA did it.

Neither, only Tracer and McCree can actually shit all over an entire team of bads by themselves, everyone else has exploitable weaknesses that come into play too often no matter the relative skill levels. Zarya comes close but her complete lack of mobility and general reliance upon team mates for charge causes her to struggle if she can't rely on anyone. Soldier comes pretty close to a carry, can probably climb with him to some extent.

Competitive is pretty shit anyway one of the main things I enjoyed about the game is how quick matches were, ranked ruins that with how matches drag on with more rounds

I lost yesterday in quick play against 2 players level 7 and 10 that were like pro Mei players or something. It was some serious ice climbers bullshit.

I carried a shitton of quickplays and some of comps with 5 golds as a soldier, he's perfect for this role.

Just hit 60 solo, almost exclusively playing Ana. Obviously I can't speak for higher ranks, but getting to 60 was pretty easy solo.

Being good with mercy applies well to other supports.
Watch where your teammates are and top up their health, try not to get singled out by flankers and ideally save your ultimate to rescue your team from an enemy ultimate. You can do basically the same thing with Lucio and Zen except use you use the ult before your team dies rather than after.

I tried playing Mercy many times, but it just doesn't feel right. I can keep my mates hp up, I can fly around avoiding being shot, I can ride competent dps heroes with buff, shoot people in the face, but god damn it is not fun! I also always fuck my ults up, maybe that's the real problem here.

I have come to love Zenyatta.
That feeling when enemy Zarya ults your whole team and a nanoboosted Genji is coming for your booty and you press Q.

What? It's ONLY possible to rank up if you solo queue. If you're stacked with people on your friends list you get impossibly difficult matches and consistently rank down.

it's literally luck getting placed in random teams. skill rating obviously means nothing, especially if people are getting carried by premade groups and happen to play solo

Some Bastions would do it but you'd still have to deal with the choke point and the freeze rays.

Yeah uh about that. Genji's ultimate is 10 seconds, which is 4 seconds longer thatn Transcendence. Amped decent Genji is perfectly capable of wiping at least 3 of your mates (starting with you generally) after experiencing tranquility is exhausted. I've done it one too many times, which is the main reason I think that EUGIN DAVAI DAVAI should be nerfed to 9 seconds instead of 10.
Other than that, yeah, it's a perfect cockblock ultimate.

It's certainly not fool proof but it is hopefully enough time for your team to just shoot the genji and make him fuck off.

depends on the platform/region but i think the average is anywhere from the mid to high 70's to low 80's

Competitive is awful. All my terrible friends are ranked 50 and should be 10-20 max. I can't even play comp solo. Everyone in the 50-60 range is pure garbage. I'm forced to carry everyone.

Just look for "Envyus Overwatch". They're a completely undefeated team in the professionals.
Like this one a few days ago, so it reflects the current meta where virtually 3/4 of the cast are on the bench and every team has McCree, Zenyatta, Lucio, Zarya at almost all times.

Its not an obligation for you to climb ranks. To expect to climb ranks simply because you feel you should goes against why ranks exist in the first place.

Is Pharah meant to be good on defending?
Feels like she has better pressure than Junkrat at holding an attacking team behind a choke point, with the added bonus of being able to jump up from behind your team if need be to put some damage on the supports/kill them if they start grouping for a push.

play characters that can carry the hardest. high-damage or self-healing characters -- roadhog, zarya, genji/tracer if you're good. lucio, maybe zenyatta are probably the best supports that can carry as well. good zens/lucios are fucking annoying.

but even then, those may not always be the best for every situation, analyze the situation and switch to the best character that complements team composition and works best against the enemy team composition.

you have no healer? pick a fucking healer, or pick a self-healing character if you're in the shitter ranks.

you have no tank? pick a fucking tank.

enemy has a bastion/toblerone? pick a fucking genji/d.va/tracer and deal with it until he switches.

enemy has lots of tanks? pick fucking reaper.

enemy all squishies? fuck them up with a winston or any other character good at taking out squishies.

try to get at least 5 or 6 characters you feel real comfortable with and stick with them. make sure at least one is a tank, and at least one is a healer. then switch between them as necessary.

pretty much exactly in your shoes too, except i started a little bit higher. just farming a few more wins now before the season ends.

everyone wants to climb ranks. it feels good, it's a sense of some sort of achievement.

if you play the game just for fun, people will be upset and tell you to play QP rather than comp. and honestly, I don't really disagree with that. I get some great games in QP. shorter game times too.

Its not impossible. I made it up to rank 60 exclusively through solo queue. I'm done with competitive until season 2 because I'm sick of losing games to a coinflip I would have won if it was stop watch.

If you're forced to play supports every game (which is either bad luck of ridicilous proportions, or complete bullshit), start playing Zen, he can actually carry a team of half-wits.

i scratched and clawed my way up to 65 playing solo. After that, I hit a losing streak that just wouldn't end. I kept getting paired with team way below my level. Now that I'm down to 58, I'm getting decent teams again but I just don't care anymore. Haven't played in about a week.

You should have stopped at 65 because that's the lowest limit on them giving you 300 coins for the golden gun this season.

Hello carry my old friend. Why can't damage dealers deal damage? Lucio is such a boring character, but most healers suck dick.

Even better is the Soldier on the team who gets most damage for hanging in the back and firing blindly into the enemy team and never getting a kill. Just stands back there tickling them and then declares himself the best and everyone else sucked.

I've gotten four gold medals with Lucio a few times. You underestimate how terrible some people are.
