Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" fix works as a no-cd crack as well, and is included in the pack.
In case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 gets stuck in a black screen upon launch, close it and re-start it again.

3 was derivative, boring and nonsensical. 4 Was shit but atleast interesting, 2 is actually good at things Silent Hill isn't dogshit at otherwise (woo, 1 has slightly less awful combat and puzzle,s fucking whoopie), and the story just outclasses all else by such a huge margin it felt like it was made by a different studio.

3 takes forever to get started. Everything before the office building is just shit.
2 was more consistent, but I remember absolutely hating that area with wet corridors and ladders.
1 was probably the most solid overall, there wasn't really any part that sucked.

Grab SH1 from the links above, use these settings, and get to it. Easily the best game in the series, and one of the best survival horror games, ever. Also very essential considering the overarching plot and lore of the series.
Plus FYI, SH4 was very controversial even back when it came out, and plays quite different from 1-3
