Because contrary to smash, the Soul Calibur series gets newer releases that appeal to the competitive scene. Also, SCV it's the best game of the series from a competitive perspective.

Fighting games were fun before online and git gud shit happened. Before you could just play with friends and have fun. Now you need to interact with community and constantly train to get better because otherwise you'll be destroyed online.

I've been having a lot of fun emulating SC 3 with friends. Sophitia might be too good though but I don't really know because my friends never block low.

I did like Hilde as an addition, it was kinda slow, introduced armour destruction, and made your CaS equipment stats for a good portion of the game

Because Melee's glitches make high level more fun and open up more options. SCII's glitches remove offensive options and thus make high level play less fun.

GI was a pretty shitty and overly defensive mechanic in the older games. And in 5 it was great because you got a free full combo off of it and it wasn't spammable.

If Namco just made a game that had all the SC2 characters with their SC2 movesets, new characters with similarly fleshed-out movesets, and removed dumb stuff like moves that are unsafe on hit and 360s that can be sidestepped it would be my perfect fighting game.
