Bones! Walking bones!

Why don't you fucking play it and find out instead of asking stupid questions?

jumping on stuff, fun combat, mercedes, pretty good game.
you'll also learn new stuff along the way, like did you know that wolfs hunt in packs, arisen? or it doesn't like fire?

>348040548

A fairly anemic story and corresponding quests.
But that aside, one of most fun games you can play in terms of ARPG gameplay.
Also, don't start as a Fighter, or any other class without ranged options. Pic related for as to why.

i heard warrior class is shit because of 3 abilites or something? i whore souls games and greatswords are my thing. No guts build then?

Canid creatures pursuing their prey but in groups

"The hour of turning back is past, now, the world will have their answer! You, or me!? Death, or life beyond!!?"

This game literally personifies what it feels like to play Guts, user.

They are one of the least effective classes but one of the most fun to play.

However if you want to get the most of out them you have to play some other classes to stack the fuck out of HP and strength augments.

Warrior is entirely viable, it's just the most handicapped class, depressingly.
Even on PC they still haven't gotten around to modding in six skills for it like all the other classes have.
That aside, there is fun to be had in playing Warrior if you like big dumb weapons, and even fighting flying monsters like griffins is possible, if a whole lot more dependent on monster behaviour. Pic very related.

Also, there are straight up Berserk weapons and armor in the game, since it was promoting the Berserk movies when it first came out. I don't think they're in the PC version though.

Three weapon skills as opposed to six for every other class, because the warrior can only hold one weapon.

But a couple of the warrior skills are so badass, and stopping a charging chimera with an arc of deliverance is always boner inducing

i just got to the big city; it's been pretty slow so far, but i just reclassed from mage to sorceror.

is there an element of magic i'm missing? so far it's just been slowly charging up fire balls and watching my pawns go to town on shit

You can be guts user.

The thing is, don't think of warrior as a damage dealer, think of it as a tank and crowd control vocation.

You wade into battle, swing your fuck huge weapon around, keeping all of the enemies stunned or knocked down, while your pawns attack from afar. I found a great combo was to have my main pawn be a sorcerer, then hire another sorcerer and a strider pawn. I kept their attention, then everything would explode in flames around me.

I'll give warrior class a go, seems good enough to play. Any back up classes if warrior not stronk enough?

>Three weapon skills as opposed to six for every other class, because the warrior can only hold one weapon.
True, but the same applies to Mage and Soreror, yet they still get six skills. The fact that Warrior only gets three is total horseshit.

I've not spent much time as Mage or Sorc, but from what I can tell buffing is probably the most useful thing. Every element buff has a slightly different attack projectile animation, and you can buff yourself and your pawns. Some enemies can only be hurt by magic and buffed weapons, too.

WOLVES

HUNT

Well, you can't start as Warrior anyway, it's an advanced class you can only unlock at level 10.
Of the starting classes, Fighter is closest to Warrior, but I'd honestly say Strider is the most well-rounded. Starting as Fighter kind of sucks, if I'm honest.

IN

WHEN THE FUCK IS DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 COMING OUT? (AKA DEEP DOWN). THEY FINALLY RELEASED AN AMAZING GAMEPLAY VID AND THEN EVERYTHING GOES SILENT AGAIN. WTF

PACKS

Mediocrity and a bunch of gimmicks.

...

I chuckled, well done.

All Vocations are surprisingly fun. Give them all a wack.

Warrior kinda sucks because of the skills, and sorcerer is a little bit zzz while you cast super fancy magic, but all the others can be crazy fun.

Personally I love me some Mystic Knight. Bash bitches with my big stick, laugh when they catch on fire when they hit my shield, it even has a 'cannon' skill. You enchant your weapon, cast this 'cannon' thing and beat the shit out of it with your mace and it sends elemental balls flying out towards enemies so you have ranged capabilities.

just got dang

You can change classes any time you are in the main city, play with all of them, it's a long game. They all have different stat leveling, and there are some cookie cutter builds too (like start with x, level y for 5 levels, level z for 10, then go back to x) but you won't ever EVER feel the need to do that. Just have fun, the classes determine your weapon and their skills, try them out.
Also, there will be times when you just cannot kill the enemies that you think you can, and that won't be related to your class or weapons. The quests sometimes pit you against some really really hard enemies along the road. So don't worry about them, after some levels you'll bash their shit in.

>Casting spells when time is paused

Holy shit.

Thanks anons, gran soren is like the nexus/hub? I've heard thats where the game kicks off in terms of development

>Also, there will be times when you just cannot kill the enemies that you think you can, and that won't be related to your class or weapons
Fucking this, fuck those early bandit encounters by that one ruined fortress. Also, fuck shield goblins. You know the ones I'm talking about.
I go out of my way to grab and throw them off cliffs.

Don't sell your rusted weapons. When enhanced to 3 stars and beyond, rusted weapons will cause torpor (slow). This makes fighting big monsters like drakes much easier, since they won't knock you off while climbing.

Gold weapons, when enhanced to 3 stars and beyond, cause silence. This can make some enemies, even bosses, unable to attack.

Never be afraid to stock up on mushrooms.

You can buy empty bottles in Gran Soren. Then, travel to one of the healing springs, and fill the bottles. Spring water will do a party wide heal, and will be a full heal up to ~ level 60. Give some to your pawns and they'll heal the party for you, no need for a mage.

You can throw vials of water on enemies to make them drenched, causing more damage from ice and lightning magick, and reducing damage to fire.

You can throw vials of oil on enemies, making them take more damage from fire and burn easier.

You can grab on to harpies, then they will fly you to areas that you can't normally reach. Some items can only be reached this way.

Yes, Gran Soren is Whiterun + Solitude + Windhelm + every MonHun village combined.
Its also one of the few realistically proportioned castle cities I've seen in vidya, I reference it frequently when thinking about city layouts for my tabletop games.

Pretty much. The world is decent sized and there are a few other places that you can switch vocations and pawns and whatnot, but still, Gran Soren is pretty much the hub of the game.

>Time paused
>With real-time multiplayer
How the hell is that going to work?

That tickles my scrotum, why can't more games have depth like this? thank you based user, the game sounds like alot of fun

>buying

you're in for a great game, a cool community and great threads on /vg/
also lolis

Well, it showed it. Everyone else just gets paused and waits. I bet they still get to pan the camera around and watch the other guy walk around. Maybe they'll let you hop into menus and swap shit around while you have the chance.

Shouldn't be a problem unless you have that one asshole friend that pauses every battle like three times.

your buddies cant move until you finish

Character size matters. Larger characters have more stamina, but stamina takes longer to recharge. Smaller characters have less stamina, but it recharges faster.

Strider has a hidden climbing speed buff, they climb about 50% faster than other vocations.

You can throw rocks, skulls, or foreign knives at armored cyclops to remove their armor. Attack the arm holding the club to make them drop it.

All characters walk at the same speed, but taller characters have a longer stride, so taller characters actually move faster.

Due to the way that stats affect damage, it's often better, as a strength based vocation, to stay away from perma-enchanted weapons and let a mage enchant your weapon.

End game BBI gear will make up for about 1/3 of your stats. So, minmaxing really isn't necessary, unless you are going for an unarmed build with two bloody knuckle rings. The difference between damage output of a perfect minmax character and a worst stats character is 8% - 10%, so don't worry about the aughtists telling you that extra level in fighter ruined your build.

i have a shitload of junk it feels like, what stuff is safe to sell and what stuff should i keep??

>Aughtists

Toss it in the storage at the inn. Typically, here is what I carry.

>30 large mushrooms, bought from the merchant lady near Caxton in Gran Soren
>30 large greenwarish, same lady
>5 panacea
>3 vials of oil for the lantern
>Some harspud sauce or other health and stamina cures
>Maybe some specific ailment cures like petrification or silence
>16 of my chosen types of periapts (conqueror for strength, demons for magick)

Besides that, toss everything into the storage. You may need it later to enhance gear.

>Entering the quarry for the first time
with full female team
Hardmode

Forgot to add, especially for BBI, you'll want sinew (rank 5 fighter augment, increases your carry load) to carry all of the shit that you find lying around. There is a method later in the game where you can sit around and grind vocation levels without gaining too much XP, but that can wait for later so as not to spoil shit.

Is this your first character? Pretty much just wing it. You can packrat everything away but if you or your pawn never plans on using a mage class, it's kind of pointless to lug around a bunch of staffs, right?

Otherwise you can google around, kind of check out what weapons do and where they go and decide from there, but that kind of shit takes away from the game on the first playthrough. It's like using a guide for a Souls game first playthrough.

You were fooled by Sup Forums the game is shit and I will explain why:

>No indication of where roads lead
>No hint to what enemies are weak to
>No hint of when enemies are alone or in groups
>No warning to avoid status effects
>No clue to which items are masterworks

I don't know how people defend this game.

>Enter the area beneath the pawn guild for the first time
>Undead
>No mage in the party
>Fuck, doing no damage
>Screw it, pick up undead, throw it over the edge
>All of the pawns copy
>Throw every single undead we meet over the edge
>Some survive, eventually they make their way back up the stairs with a sliver of health left

when do they talk about ailments?

...

chimera's sleep is the first one that came to my mind

...

CAREFUL NOT TO GET SOAKED!

MASTERWORKS ALL, CANT GO WRONG

I've landed that exact same shot. Felt amazing

>Under the guild
>Fucking skeletons have a million health
>I have a mace what the fuck?
>Is this like Dark Souls? Did I take the wrong path out of firelink?
>Throw one off the side
>Eeeheheh. I forgot I can do that
>I wonder
>Throw mage pawn over the side
>Whelp.. I don't know what I expected.
>Might as well keep up this slow grind killing these bitches
>Ogre
>LETS DO THIS
>SLAM
>Like 5hp, all pawns downed
>Yackety sax down to the bottom
>Double time yackety sax back up the stair case
>SHIT WHY IS THIS GATE CLOSED?
>Oh.
>GOGOGOGOGOGOGO
>Exit
>All pawns laying on the ground in the little 'entrance' area
>Pick them all up
>Continue adventure
>Oh shit, goblins at the gate!
>Goddamn this game is cool
>I can't wait until I meet a griffon
>I bet cool shit like that won't happen for another 10 hours

Dragon's Dogma is fun.

...

Good game
underrated everywhere
overrated on Sup Forums

as you would expect from these contrarian faggots

the only shit part of the game was being petrified by the cockatrice boss and finding out as my pawns turned to stone around me that there is no way to reverse petrification and its essentially a Doom timer

but once I knew that it could do that I just did my best to not get hit by its breath

There are potions that can cure it if it's not too late, but panaceas do not work.

Why wouldn't it be overrated on Sup Forums?
>minimal handholding
>refreshing combat system, actually has a grab button with several uses
>excellent character/pawn creator, allows for loli healpawns and whatnot
>fashionable armor
>ridiculous high level sorcery spells include creating tornadoes and earthquakes

>Pawn starts turning to stone
>"I'm sorry-"
>Becomes a statue

Jesus muh heart.

Ogres can be the most fun and most annoying fights ever.

>Creeping through a cave
>Dead quiet
>Refill lantern
>Loli healer calls out "OGRES ARE ENRAGED BY WOMEN!"
>Uh.. okay.. Thanks for the tip.
>Turn the corner
>OH FUCK OGRE
>All pawns are female because.. well of course they are.
>Ogre goes apeshit
>Finally whittle down his health to 25%
>Okay, we got this
>Ogre enrages
>Goes full pro-wrestler
>BODY SLAM
>UPPERCUTS
>FLYING SIDEWAYS KICK
>DO YOU SMELL WHAT THE ROCK'S COOKIN?!

I was stuck on that asshole for like two hours. Was fun though.

>mfw high voidspell

It ill likes fire!

I really enjoyed it, maxed out every class. The combat never gets old, just change classes periodically. Capcom needs to make a second with better fast travel and maybe an ability to tame creatures to ride around, also a better crafting program.

>Why wouldn't it be overrated on Sup Forums?
Pointless empty open world?
Tedious mechanics like monsters respawning all the time and backtracking?
Terrible quest & level design?
Only one great dungeon in the whole game?

Also
>fashionable armor
Not even close, fucking Fable had more armors
>ridiculous high level sorcery spells include creating tornadoes and earthquakes
Oh yeah the "hold one button for 2 minutes trying to not fall asleep and wait for cool stuff to happen" gameplay, even in DD threads pretty much everyone agrees high level sorcery is a class for pawns, not players. It makes great webms though, it's just terrible to play and even the devs know that since they changed it in DDO.

Warrior is fun for a little while until you realize ho shitty it is.

Anyone else play with Japanese audio so that it reminds you of your Japanese animes?

Seems all roads lead to Gran Soren.

only reason why warrior is seen as a problem class is because they don't have a lot of attacks to flying creatures. They have to wander down to you.

When you've played through most things, try out a mod for multiclassing. That's fun. I like playing Mystic Warrior.

The fast travel is perfect. It's just the overworld that needs to be more exciting.

>yfw Arc of Deliverance at 150% power

are you fucking retarded? all you had to do was take a softener. God your so fucking stupid go back to fucking reddit

Thats not a funny nice way of communicating with someone.

>tfw Magick Archer at night in the forest

It's like I am my own sweet rave party.

maybe if you werent so shit you'd see it was unironic-ironic humor.

>3rd person action adventure game
>heavy emphasis on combat
>no lock-on targeting
I cannot fucking stand it when games do this. There's no excuse.

Good customization, though. Pawns are kind of insufferable but so crucial to the game that you have to deal with them.

I'm having a decent time with it.

...

>tfw 3rd person
>tfw heavy emphasis on combat
>tfw no lock on

It's the best way to hunt. I mean fight monsters. Er, play ARPGs. My bad.

For the love of god.. If there any game devs in here, do NOT listen to this guy's meme arrows.

Please do not make your game a first person ARPG, cut-scene focused, targeting hand-holding piece a shit of a game.

>first person ARPG, cut-scene focused, targeting hand-holding piece a shit of a game
Yes, I said all those things. Dumbass.

lock-on targeting for 3rd person action is great though. you instantly get 2 more moves for each move. one for neutral stick, one for backwards and the other for forwards. it depends what you want your game to be.

Walking everywhere running into the same enemies over and over

>no lock-on targeting
There straight up is one for Magick Bows and a sort of soft lock-on for spells.
Having one for bow classes would be shit and would take all the fun out of actually successfully getting a well-timed and aimed shot.
And for melee it literally isn't needed. Melee is closer to DMC or MonHun than Souls or similar, you absolutely don't need lock on for it. You're supposed to be climbing, charging attacks or doing sick combos when fighting monsters, not turtling.

>no lock-on targeting
kek get good

The healing system sucks.

Warrior vocation best vocation

>It's not DiGiorno. It's Deliverance

...

>Actually sticking to roads, as wandering off the roads can prove deadly
>Head out to this place
>UGH. The road goes aaaaaall the way around this place
>Fuck it. I'll just cut through the forest.
>Huh.. Devilfire Grove? I wonder why they landed on that name.

This game was a rollercoaster of emotions nearing the end and I'm incredibly salty on how it ended and what it implies.

>Slave to a broken order, dare you look upon the truth?

>The quest that gets you the best longsword in the early game required passing through there
Fucking hell. Worth it though.

I wish I had your instantaneous download speeds.

I didn't really finish BBI sadly because my character felt really ineffective.
