I think its the most overrated moba in history that remains super popular because it has a giant like valve backing it and the majority of the community never even played the original. Hat collecting is a powerful thing.

imo the only game that deserves to be called an esport, everything else is kind of embarrassing in comparison

I don't play it that much because it gets too stressful and I don't have the dedication to put in the thousands of hours needed to actually get decent at it but I like to watch esports for fun, everything from the FGC to counter strike to hearthstone to MOBAs, and the international is by and far the best esport event by an enormous margin

I don't follow the meta that much or really anything outside of the big LAN events but I've seriously fallen in love with the commentators and professionals working the stage as well as all the cool shit that goes on between the players, a lot of people think dota fans are too defensive or arrogant or whatever but honestly you guys deserve to be because everything about professional dota is in a league of its own. i wouldn't even call it a moba because the rest of the genre isn't doing it any justice. this is coming from someone who has wasted ~4 years playing league and continues to do so because his shitty friends refuse to switch games.

how do people even get 2k? i played bot games for like 600 hours and then calibrated as soon as i unlocked ranked and got 3300, havent touched it since then and maybe i'm not the best example because i have thousands of hours in league and hon but i seriously get the impression that people that are sub 3k are mentally challenged in some way and not able to grasp things as easily as others

antimage is one of the most slot starved heroes in the game considering how weak his kit is in the late game, he straight up loses to almost any 4+ slotted hard carry like spectre, dusa, void, morph etc despite being 10k gold or two items ahead and you want to waste a slot with a blink dagger? are you serious?

I don't have a problem with insults. What I don't like is how people will decide to feed and ruin the game because things are not going their way.

I'm like 2.9k with 0 experience in RTSs and Mobas beyond my 600ish hours in Dota. I feel like people at this bracket are competent at one thing, but terrible at most others. I feel like I have decent game sense and map awareness, but my mechanical skills, beyond last hitting, and my positioning are beyond terrible. I just drop spaghetti everywhere during teamfights. And my close to 3k friends are the opposite of me, where they can get their skills off on the correct targets, but they never look at the minimap and they're always getting caught out by extremely obvious ganks.

But then again this is against other ~3k players, so grain of salt.

You can master one "aspect" of gameplay and that will probably take you up. I'm about 4.1k at the moment and my lane phase, map awareness and farming ability is shit but I can teamfight really well.

However, mechanics are absolutely vital. It's the building block for any form of action. It doesn't matter how smart you are if you can't get shit done, you're basically making it a 4v5 during crunch time.

But AM's gimmick is he hops in the jungle and gets 6-slotted before everyone else so he can end the game. Of course he's going to lose if it goes late, especially against an ultra late game carry like Medusa, but he wants to end the game before Medusa gets scary.

Not really a fan. I have a bunch of hours in it because my friends all like it, but it's just not satisfying.

When I improve at a fighting game I directly see the results every match.

When I improve at dota I still lose a bunch of games because I had some idiot from peru on my team.

In general, the first toy seems very interesting. But in the future quickly tired of the lack of diversity. I can not advise to play it, but the taste and color of comrades there. Who will explain why.
