ITT games only you played.
ITT games only you played
i got every hexen and heretic game that was on sale during steam. rank em for me user. i trust you
Made this quite a while ago, but I still stand by it.
Not OP, but.
>Heretic = Hexen > Hexen 2 > Heretic 2
...
I'm also biased, as I am an avid Doom fan, but moreso Heretic because of how much more novel it was, conceptually.
Real fun game too
how so?
my only experience is 2 levels of hexen on n64
currently playing brutal doom for the first time also, holy shit man. theres no going back
This and also I played Ronde on saturn.
...
whats is this?
It's just grimdark fantasy flavor. Heretic is literally a Doom clone, but it just feels more varied, whether it's the levels, the weapons and items, or the enemies, and it's just a supreme amount of fun. You can also fly, which was fucking bewildering to me when I first played it back in the late 90's.
I think you misunderstood OP's post. It's games only you played, not games everyone has played.
Most likely a porn game.
the on video of this on youtube mentions how theres literally no videos. you may actually have won the thread
Nah it's a really obscure adventure game
>there will never be a good modern hexen/heretic clone
We can only pray for Hellraid to end up being good.
...
Pretty much this.
>implying
>Heretic
DOOM with medieval magic and inventory 8/10
>Hexen
"one ninth of a puzzle has been solved" and punching ettins to death, 6 or 9/10 depending on if you know what to do in later levels
>Hexen 2
Four Riders of Apocalypse are midbosses, 9/10
Heretic 2 is different altogether and not an FPS.
...
>not posting the Necromancer
The guy is basically Sup Forums.

effing timers
there's just something else about starting a war with a world devourer over stepping on your turf
M for mature?
Doesn't look that 'violent'
>want to replay Portal of Praevus badly after reading this thread
>remember all the hoops you have to jump through to get the game and the music to work
It's great, he wanted to be the villain but was usurped by a bigger villain
wait these characters had backstory?
what are these from?
the manual
The goddamn manual, were else?
Which makes me wonder if Portal of Praevus had one for the Demoness.
Ah.
I never had manuals back in the 90s since my dad pirated everything
well, these games are from the age where there were, often in-character, paper manuals. I have some of Hexen 2's
so did mine actually

>Born through magical means, the Demoness is not old in actual years. But Eidolon taught her the equivalent of many lifetimes of lessons. Often the lessons were harsh and painful, for the powerful Serpent Rider wanted his creation to be hardened, disciplined. She tasted his wrath many times, but inherently understood its intent. The race to which she would give birth would be greater for the suffering she endured.
>But then the so-called heroes came, destroying her master and displacing her destiny. The Demoness, at the time only recently given the ability of magic, was in no position to prevent the demise of Eidolon or to punish those responsible. Though devastated, she knew in time her power would grow to a strength sufficient for her to exact her revenge.
>Yet, as pleasurable as that day would be, there would come a day that was sure to surpass it. That day, whether in ten years of a hundred, would be the day she finally succeeded in summoning her master back to Thyrion.
>The arrival of Praevus and the imprisonment of the Serpent Riders' souls was wholly unexpected and sent the Demoness into an unholy rage. She reduced her abode to little more than a ruin before finally regaining control of herself. With forced patience, the Demoness went to her laboratory to use the arcane artifacts therein to seek news regarding Praevus. Her plans would still go forward, she decided. But here was a quest she would need to undertake first.

>the only serpent-riding Serpent Rider
Never understood why people hated Heretic 2 so much. I understand it's very different from the first but the staff gameplay is just so good.
...
Shit was tight. One of my favorite xbox games.
...
Nice, I knew she wanted to free Eidolon, but I didn't know her exact story.
...
Not a bad game by any means, but it was pretty polarizing at the time. It's like following Metal Gear Solid avidly, and then you buy MGR and it's like, 'what the fuck did I just buy? This is not Heretic/Hexen.'
>No PC release
>Not even a remaster
Kind of sad, actually.
Really generic.
I fucked up my own analogy, but you understand the point.
...
I miss the dark fantasy fps genre so much. I miss reading all those stories they gave you in the manual which you would probably call edgy but I love that grimdark shit.
>tfw you got a swamp mammoth or the huge blimp thingie
>tfw you got some sick ass archers to back'em up and some cavalry
Man i miss this game so much.
this game was really REALLY good if you had the nes advantage
Sup
...
it would be easier to shoot, but the controls are still awkward af mostly because of the level design
Probably because no one can afford it.
Still waiting for Total Overdose 2
>Heretic
Most traditional gameplay, basically Medieval Doom. As good as one should expect.
>Hexen
God tier atmosphere, music, artstyle, weapons, and enemy designs. Uses a hub system instead of traditional levels / episodes like other FPS' of the time. Also multiple character classes each with the own unique arsenal and some inventory item effect.
>Hexen 2
Same as Hexen 1 but worse in every single way. Not bad but everything felt a bit lazy. Classes can now level up and get unique class abilities, definitely a neat idea. Expansion is a lot better.
>Heretic 2
It's not an FPS but instead plays like an early version of Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast, ie fun. Again not bad but just so different from the first game.
i see that my brutal doom work with them. does that make it any better?
I played it for like... fifteen minutes, it's just as shitty as the cover suggests.
My dude, loved this. Always thought it felt like a Serious Sam-style GTA
There was a sort-of-sequel on PSP.
I enjoyed the PS2 game quite a bit.
...
Can SSF emulate this properly? I heard it has bad compatibility with Yabuse
I remember seeing ads for this in a magazine. How was it?
Never tried Brutal anything before so I couldn't tell you. However I highly suggest playing vanilla if it's your first experience with the games.
I never finished it though, game is like 150 hrs long and I did like 40-50 in my last playthrough
I haven't played it for years, but I have some warm of it. The art was great, combat was fairly simple but fun, though I remember there being some difficult boss that gave me a lot of trouble. The game was mostly just messing around different areas, looking for items to proceed further, so nothing too puzzling. I'm actually not sure if I ever beat the game. I still have the disc, might get around to it eventually.
some warm memories of it*
I still remember that fucking puzzle on Egyptian level.
And you, fuckers, should all play Heretic: Masters of Chaos. It's amazing.
This was probably one of my fav gba games and I don't think anyone else played it.
WE'RE SQUARE-SHAPED FISH
It's meh.
I played it, man.
I didn't know English at the time and I had no idea what the game was about. Always thought it was kind of creepy, probably thanks to the artstyle and some character designs.
Everyone played Shatterhand.
SSF is pretty good for it. The problem is finding an ISO that isn't shit.
never EVER seen this on Sup Forums
>bonus points if you had the two pack with the mummy game and the awesome box
One of the first games that I played. It was pretty good.
I remember reading a review of this in a magazine in mid to late 90s.
i hated lotr but damn this was a good rpg
You aren't alone: I've played both this game and that shit Mummy game with McDowell.
davenport was such a shitstain.
was it really a bad game? i always liked it.
This is the biggest nigger game. I got it for free and got rid of it.
>davenport
What Davenport has to do with these games?
I still play it every 5 years or so.
>not remembering davenport
...
This game went full retarded after third act. And the whole notebook mechanic was kinda poorly implemented. Especially that part with golem.
Oh, he was called Davenpot. Well, I don't remember shit about this games aside from hilarious cinematic when you see the mummy in the caves/mines.
Have you played Congo?
This game is the legend, come on.
>theres gotta be another way IN there!
I liked this one. I actually preferred it to Discworld 1+2, where it was mostly reusing the jokes from the books.
>no ammo anywhere
>record holder for most annoying spiders in any game ever
>some of the most convoluted and outright bullshit "puzzles" in the history of mankind
>combat isn't even good
What were they thinking?
...
...
Also the maps are completely insane, there is complex level design, then there is Hexen 2 "I have no idea where I'm going even after 5 hours on the same level" level design.
So bad, so good.
I implore to you reconsider. Play Portal of Praevus.
