Some people like the finer control at slower speed, though I've only ever had that problem on a touch screen and it was because of the touch screen. Maybe people like to take it slow and enjoy the scenery.

It's just annoying how enemies hit the fucking tail of your party. Then you just have to run in battle, and i've never had that fail on me.
And if you fight all that does is overlevel you for the next boss.

You know, it's not just Tales of games that do it too. Like, I don't recall what it was but there was this JRPG I played that had a similar option. You could switch if running or walking was your default option. I'm pretty sure it was some RPGMaker game and there was literally no reason to walk though.

Zero's fine, it's supposedly due out by the end of the year though it'll probably get delayed. They said they're going to take a break before working on Ao though. So it'll probably be more than a year's wait between Zero and Ao. And that's assumign the translation is good enough to be worth playing. A lot of people shit on it because of "poor quality" from a proof of concept video from like a year ago but I'm still hopeful it'll turn out well. Pity the lead dev is an asshole though, but drama is just the way of the world in modding communities I guess.

Some monster packs attack you when they hear you, rather than see. You can pass them by walking slowly. But yeah nah not really useful, but I prefer a port with too many options over a port with too few.
