fake and gay
I'll never understand the appeal of this game. It's pure fucking garbage
Not even archie would resort to tumblr tier depictions and consider sans good enough for anything in a spotlight.
1. Easily accessible. The barriers to entry are toddler level
2. Milquetoast "quirky" humor that is not offensive to anyone.
3. Minor script changes based on your play history to make "lore"fags lose their shit.
4. The first time many casuals have ever experienced a game use gimmicks and break the 4th wall.
5. Attempts to be thought provoking that aren't actually thought provoking because you're NEVER challenged for left with an ambiguous decision or faced with situations where there is no right answer.
>a comic series about a game people are going to forget within a year
not even Archie is that dumb
>Literally defeated Ocarina of Time on gamefaqs, the place that worshipped OoT above all else since its inception
>"people are going to forget within a year"
lol ok kid.
No game developer or publisher is dumb enough to board Archie's sinking ship. Not now that they're primed to lose the Sonic license (Archie's primary moneymaker) over a lawsuit about reprint royalties.
DELETE
THIS
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
it "defeated" OoT because it was still relatively new then
give it another year and people will move on to the next flavor of the week
also, what would the comic even be about? You can adapt the game within a couple of issues.
Sup Forums still hasn't forgotten about it and it's almost a year old. You're stupid to say that about it nowadays.
Well there could be the unknown Gaster plot points and what he used to be like before erasing himself, or the 6 other humans and their possible misadventures in Underland, or even Flowey's experiences for a long time before inevitably growing tired of it all. It's not a HUGE amount of stuff but it's certainly workable.
Don't forget tapping that Homestuck audience.
It won't be remembered less than Cave Story
God almighty im glad that Cave Story came out ages ago, if it was released now we would have had shitposting about furfags and how it's a "le so retro xDDD" game instead of actually enjoying it
That was a given you dormin. Ultimately it is a game with very weak emotional impact and is artistically devoid of the things I seek in a game.
This desu sampai. I'm glad it came out when vidya wasn't as mainstream
No Genocide arc, no read.
>i can't hate undertale because everyone starts bitching to me about how I shouldn't hate a game for fanbase
The game is complete and utter shit with horrible gameplay and a feelsy story that attracts tumblr like moth's to a flame
>implying Toby is going to work on more stuff
He already made all the money he needed. He's set for life.
I didn't mean literally forgotten, but just not as nearly as popular as it once was, like Bastion or Super Meat Boy.
I thought the entire appeal behind Gaster was that he wasn't explained? Regardless, Undertale's story and universe doesn't nearly have enough to work with compared to Sonic and Mega Man.
And yet people say the same thing about Gurren Lagann and people on Sup Forums rush to defend it
Heh! Pretty cool, actually. The guys at Archie did the Sonic and Megaman comics pretty well.
Looks cute, and the characters look spot on. Might give it a read, but I'm not too big on the game after beating it.
He made earthbound romhacks in the past, I very much doubt money is his motivation to make games.
I actually saw him shortly after undertale's release in a small game festival and he looked like a pretty fucking chill guy
Q&A time starts, 3 devs are on the panel, one of them being toby and they are asked what did they use to design their game, the first two go on and about photoshop and hand drawn sketches and shit, Toby literally just says "mspaint"
They then get asked why did they choose pixel art, the first two go on and about retro feel, aesthetics and how the imagination of the player can fill spaces in etc, Toby says "It's cheaper and I'm poor", I just can't dislike the fucker after that
>H-h-he's a gamer! He's just like me!
You're easy to manipulate. Sad.
...
What are you even talking about user
>being a trumpet
>he looked like a pretty fucking chill guy
im so fucking tired of hearing this, its used so much as an excuse to people hated on the internet to make them seem less of a faggot in real life
>He made earthbound romhacks in the past, I very much doubt money is his motivation to make games.
how the fuck do these two things relate you dumbass?
>admits to being a lazy fuck
>I JUST CAN'T DISLIKE THE FUCKER AFTER THAT
>The first time many casuals have ever experienced a game use gimmicks and break the 4th wall.
Can anyone give me example of these?
Haven't played the game.
I wonder if Sup Forums or /m/ generally think Undertale is great
That's your opinion, and your opinion is wrong.
The first Final boss of the game you encounter is essentially an homage to all those video game creepypastas
>HYPERREALISM
>FILE IS NAMED AFTER A DEAD KID
>RANDOMLY BOOTS YOU TO THE START
>CRASHES THE GAME IN A SPOoOoKY FASHION
Among other things
Also, the main plot of the game is based around Saving and Reloading files, treating it as time travel and having no true death, since when you die you just get right back up where you saved.
>FILE IS NAMED AFTER A DEAD KID
Really?
flowey the first character you meet in the game wich is also the main antagonist has a lot of meta knowledge and the entire plot revolves around him knowing about saving, the player and what not.
depending on your actions certain lines or events are changed according to various conditions like killing, leveling up and one time even """""savescumming"""". Flowey knows about this and most encounters are him being edgy as fuck and just mocking you for what you do or dont do, he also "uses" options that are normally out of reach for any entity except the player, like loading and creating saves
thats practically it
>acts like an unprofessional
>WOW he's so COOL
>how the fuck do these two things relate you dumbass?
Here, I'll word it in even a simpler way
"He made games and released them for free in the past, I very much doubt money is his motivation to make games"
>admits to being a lazy fuck
What in the fuck do I care if he is a lazy fuck or not, I like that he is not a pretentious douche and that he acknowledges his product for what it is.
Most spoiler-free one I can think of is how sometimes enemies interact with your menu or interface
If you don't care about spoilers...
In one ending, the player is told by a character to erase the world, if you do the world is destroyed, not the planet or anything like that but the world itself, if you refuse the character tells you you aren't the one in control, then "kills" the world, damage numbers cover the screen and the window of the game shakes, like enemies do when hit, it then closes.
Trying to open the game afterwards shows a black screen with no name (it doesn't say "undertale" at the top, inputs do nothing
After 10 minutes pass the character asks the player if he thinks his actions have no consequences, and later is asked for his SOUL in order to get the world back, if you do you can start all over again, still...
This permanently changes the game even if you replay it
Also, the "SOUL" is a concept within the game, no spooky shit intended
Sort of, Flowey takes control of six human souls, becomes godlike, and renames the file to his with 9999 LV, and in the end of the game it's revealed that Flowey is actually Asriel but lacking a soul, so he essentially is naming it after a dead kid
Giving an ingame explanation to game mechanics is not breaking the fourth wall.
There was definitely a few fourth wall breaks in the genocide route though, Flowey's reference to people who watch streamers play the genocide run because they're too pathetic to do it themselves was a pretty good one, especially since it doesn't reference the person behind the screen but the people behind ANOTHER layer of screens.
Plus the entire ending of Genocide with Chara is pretty ambiguous, but they speak directly to the player as well.
is this real or what
Toby looks like a cool dude
>"He made games and released them for free in the past
he made romhacks, boi, not games, and selling romhacks is illegal
silly me
go to 8:55
your opinion is 100% fucking right
anyone who defends undertale's gameplay has never played any shoot em up
What do you think? Of course not, dunce
Fuck you, asshole. You're the dunce here.
didn't know this was a cringe thread
Hoo boy
...
What the fuck lmao
How the fuck do people find shit like this funny? I guess it's their community, random and 'quriky' humor is supposedly comedy gold for these sad sacks
>skinny, pale, autistic 5'5" nerd made tumblrtale
and this is surprising how
I want that rabbit as a pet
Game is okay but it should've been harder like Dodonpachi and not too reliant on extremely obvious patterns that are easily beaten or 1cc'd through quick practice.
youtube.com
At least baby's first barabait, thiccbait and shotabait are a million times better than midget meme skellyton man
You do know it's an edit, right?
You don't know financial troubles don't you? They're already on the verge of losing Sonic thanks to some ass suing SEGA and Archie. Yes it's another Panders. Archie right now is in the middle of shit. Well their comic is shit.
It has to be obvious patterns because the whole combat is cookie cutter shit. Unless you want me to believe that every encounter with a froggit, etc. is the same monster, don't make me subdue them the same way. Give them personality variants or moods, something to mix it up, even if there's like 3 different types per monster and their moods can change mid battle, which influences their attack patterns
>Anger
>Harder hitting attacks, but more predictable
>Joy
>Faster, Erratic attack patterns
>Sorrow
>Slower, more drawn out attack phases
Then have specific actions that can trigger or neuter those moods, with moods offering more gold, easier sparing or some other bonus.
I never got this comic
I think it's supposed to be some RPG hero and the Goblin hasn't had any trouble until that point, but is actually a whiny kid when faced with real hardship?
It's a parody on how some games try to humanize goblins and such and try to paint humans as the real monsters.
I think an animu series recently did that too? Not sure
>humor that is not offensive to anyone
Even if you have good points in the rest of that post, your position that humor has to be offensive in order for it to start to have some level of notable quality just makes you look like an edgelord.
It's based on a shitty webcomic called Goblins.
>TFW I could tell this is fake because if it was real, it would half the catalog dedicated to it
>This changes the permanently
Unless you delete two files in the game folder.
wtf this guy have problems
