They tried to cash in on GTA's success by dousing the dub cast with celeb talent. It was a stupid movie, considering that the Shenmue gameplay formula has only ever been marginally popular in the west.

If anything game simply didn't sell well enough to justify a dub. I don't think there were any problems with the dub itself, aside from some usual cultural things you'd miss because Japanese translation is a bitch.

Dub was awful but still entertaining, I wish they would tone down the swearing, it ruins the spirit of the games when they tried to make it look like GTA

Yakuza 2 is still one of the best PS2 games I've ever played.
Also the final boss theme is still one of the best in my opinion.

Shivering Isles was trash.
The setting was boring and a transparent attempt to try to pander to players who were fans of Morrowind and not the Elder Scrolls as a whole. Virtually all of the dialogue was embarrassing penguin of doom bullshit. It assassinated Sheogorath's character and made him unbearable while also ruining him for subsequent appearances. All the new armor, weapons, and clothing was boring. The powers were boring. The ending was worse than the main game.
Conversely, despite not even being a real expansion, Knights of the Nine was better in every conceivable way.
