I'm no stranger to the theory that nothing is as real as we believe it to be. It's a notion that I've either accepted or rejected to varying degrees throughout my 36 years of pondering existence. Last night, I encountered my first Atlas Interface, and now that belief is as cemented as such an abstract concept can be.

I must have sat there in front of my tv for 15 minutes, unmoving except to blink and breath. Beneath the surface, my mind was in a whirl. Mel Brooks would be so proud of how they demolished the 4th Wall, but instead of a goofy aside to the camera, or some witty quip about being in a movie (or video game in this case) it was as if I had just been presented with some of the hardest evidence to-date that everything we know to be real is not.

Granted, I'll admit that our algorithm is considerably more complex than what Hello Games has made, but if a team of just a few people can craft something so vast and beautiful, what could an actually INTELLIGENT species create?

I will no longer be playing No Man's Sky like it's a video game. I now feel as though I'm exploring a strange reflection of our own reality as perceived through the imaginations of a few absolutely brilliant people; a living, breathing, evolving alternate plane of existence.

Considering our own reality is vastly imperfect, I can even more easily forgive the occasional bug, glitch, or crash. Those are minor nuisances compared to the thought-provoking, curiosity piquing, space pirate blasting, worm hole jumping, philosophical joy I'm getting out of No Man's Sky.

I shall return to my adventures through this universe HG has created for us, now as much of a pilgrimage as any I have been on in this life.

He'll never be able to attach his name to a game again and not have this instantly brought up. Sacrificing a potential career for a single short-term success is not a good idea, he's lost all good will he may have had with potential buyers. And lots of those people will probably refund.

There are certain titles they used cracks for because the source code isn't available anymore for those games, they can't just tear out the DRM so they have to use cracks.
The same thing was done on steam with Max Payne at one stage.

Needless to say every new game isn't cracked because the dev teams are still alive and able to supply true DRM-free copies.

Yes, because I'm not a fucking idiot and I realized we live in fucking 2016 and what some other people (read: Sup Forums) were expecting was totally unrealistic and naive.

I wanted a fucking badass as hell exploration game and that's exactly what I got. If you lack the imagination to go 10 minutes without the game screaming at you to "GO HERE AND DO THIS" then NMS is not for you. If you're like me and only ever wanted to explore the vast depths of space, it's a dream come fucking true.

Downloaded it in three minutes from direct links.
