Ive noticed that I need to see into the future in order to hit anybody now myself.
It's basically the refresh rate of the server. Everyone complained about how the game servers only refreshed at 20 times a second (20 tick rate)
Tickrate is the number of times the server updates per second.
30 tick updates 30 times per second
60 tick updates 60 times per second.
This means that in one second, a players position will be calculated 60 times, which provides a much smoother and more reliable experience.
and counterstrike players have been complaining that csgos tickrate is only 64 instead of 124. really makes you think

The difference between 30 and 60 is huge.
The difference between 60 and 120 is marginal, even though it's a larger increase.
Most people wouldn't benefit from a tickrate higher than 60 tick since their display has to refresh at least with the same rate.
It's still a huge fucking difference.

Source has a shit ton of interp and other networking issues, but Counterstrike has a gameplay issue first that really causes problems.

Looks like it's literally today, they're just now starting to add it to all the regions. Caveat is that the game will gauge your internet connection and automatically scale up or down update rate, and you can self-limit your bandwidth consumption. Have fun playing with 20 tick Roadhogs who refuse to change.

I used 10 spaces for 30 tick and 5 for 60 tick and it looked good enough.
it kept me skirmishing for 13 minutes today before finding a quick play game and this was during EU afternoon.

Not, not even close. Only a handful of online games with any appreciable population use that.
I think the most likely is that they're simply implementing it for testing to see how it plays out without officially announcing it, since that introduces bias. They also don't have it on all regions yet, so they don't wanna get people hyped.

Except they put it as an option in the custom match mode since the beta, they have not put it into the main modes because they really want to level the game for third worlders and normal people alike because of their obsession with the e-sport meme.
The fact this makes the game an unplayable mess for everyone is just a side effect to them.
I'll only respect this game when it gets a server browser and people are given mod tools, IE never.

Literally not everything is based on pride, I know this is a tough thing to understand when on Sup Forums 99.9% of arguments are based solely around pride, but there are other sensible reasons for their non-announcement.
