How is the DLC?

what does this mean

It's machine code.

Should I buy it?

Shitty optimization

No

Man what a fucking disappointing game

I was pissed

so there's seriously nothing I can do about this?
I get literally unplayable framerate regardless of what GPU I use and everything else is above the recommended specs

Could try changing settings. Turn off msaa if you have it on. I have a 970 and even 2x msaa drops the framerate to like 40 fps.

Unremarkable at best, game breaking at worst.

Alien Hunters is totally broken. It The concept seems awesome on paper but what ends up happening is you introduce these god-like monsters way too early in the game. They would be great in that last 30% of the game where things are no longer all that challenging and you're just trying to grind to the finish and getting bored, but that's not when they're introduced. Instead you have these incredibly OP aliens that randomly show up and lay waste to everything during a phase of the game where you're working your ass off just to keep your head above water. Note I'm talking about the higher difficulties, no idea what this would be like on easy or whatever.

Shen's Last Gift just doesn't change the game much. The mechs are hugely expensive and by the time you have one all tricked out you end up thinking you probably should have just fleshed out the normal soldiers instead. Plus it really isn't anything fresh - it's basically just the same mech approach from XCom 1 but shoehorned into 2.

I loved Xcom2, but the DLCs aren't worth it if you already own the game.

>tfw doing infiltration missions because everyone is in medbay

By the numbers

It's not a problem with the settings; I get atrocious performance regardless of what I set it to, even with a 1070. I'll get anywhere between 9-29 fps on lowest. The problem seems to be with how it uses the card.

still waiting for all those people who were talking about making actual x-com within xcom 2

where's the UFO defense mod? i want to play a proper xcom game not casual bullshit

Yeah, so you have a pretty high end card. My performance wasn't anywhere near as bad as yours. And from that chart you posted your GPU usage keeps dropping to 0 every few seconds which is generally a red flag for poor optimization but I have no idea how to fix it if changing settings doesn't work.

You should play Apocalypse if you haven't yet. People always ignore it but it's my favorite of the series. There's people doing an OpenXCOM-ish remake of it too at the moment.

I fucking never understood the performance issue, i have a HD 7700 AMD card, that card is old as fuck and i can easily run the game at 45 or more FPS, settings range from medium to low, resolution plays a big fucking part in the game, but i still play in 1080.

There was a guide that helped a lot with performance, cant recall where it is but a quick search will show it up.

There was some guy making the mod but i havent seen progress, also XCOM 2 is not that casual at all. i am playing Legendary in Ironman and its kinda kicking my ass.

I still prefer the setting of XCOM EU though.

Also if you really want to get your fix of XCOM, play XCOM Area 51 mod, that thing is fucking hardcore as shit.

>also XCOM 2 is not that casual at all

The 1070 was actually defective and I had to RMA it, but I had the same problems with my old 660 even though I can run equally demanding games without any issues. I just want to make sure it's a software problem and not a hardware one before I register for any tech support forums.

Nigger i beat XCOM UFO in Genius Ironman and Legendary is giving me more trouble than UFO.

I haven't played it since launch, what things did they add or change since then?

Anyone claiming XCom 2 on legendary ironman isn't a challenge is just internet toughguy-ing

A game can be casual and still be hard.

After this stunning debut, I lost this guy two missions later to an exploding car

complete pack when?

I don't understand what it means to be casual then

I know, i seen people who say that Impossible Ironman was easy.

U wot

How nigger, casual by definition is that is something you can sit, play a bit and then drop off without having to put effort in it.

XCOM 2 in Legend plus ironman makes playing the game a fucking nightmare if you fuck up 1 move.

When the expansion comes out

Are there plans for an expansion? I'm waiting on them to release one that also fixes a lot of shit, or did they leave that side for modders to fix?

already beaten apocalypse multiple times, a lot of people don't like it but its kinda neat the entire game takes place in one gigantic city

>xcom 2 is not that casual at all
please. TFTD on superhuman blows that babby shit out of the water

No, Xcom 2 dumbed down a lot of shit, took me much less effort to complete.

Old XCOM really wasn't that hard. The UI just made it a chore to play. Can't comment much for TFTD though as I haven't played it, is it much harder? Is the OpenXCOM version out yet?

compared to the originals no shit, but that doesn't mean it wasn't fucking hard

It wasn't tho, I played Xcom vanilla and it was fun and gave me a nice learning curve.
Xcom 2 is just "just rush that shit nigga"

lol i beat xcom:EU on impossible ironman with 6 squadsight snipers, and then after that i beat the long war on I/I as well, which only took me two 12 hour playsessions.

shit isnt difficult and neither is xcom 2

They've supported TFTD with OpenXCOM for a while now. UI's fine though. Not sure what your problem with it is.

as this guy said. SPARK soldiers are all around just bad. psionic soldier with W.A.R suit is just straight up better than a spark and can be achieved i feel much much faster than a Fully maxed SPARK.

I just want to turn off alien hunters, besides some cheesy fog of war shenanigans fighting the kings and queen are just hell. The armors are cool but I've never gotten them early enough for them to be anything more than a shirt that said I beat the alien hunters DLC.

"less effort" doesn't mean "easy game." on legend ironman you get a little over eager and you can wipe your entire squad.

>TFTD

That game blows anything out of the water.

Like what the fuck are you going to tell me about XCOM that i dont already know? Those games were what made me survive my teenage years.

XCOM 2 was a nice surprise to have

Its in progress, i think is playable right now

Like this user said It might be dumbed down, but it sure as hell aint easy, we will never get another game like the old XCOMs or Jagged Allience from some triple AAA studios, but XCOM EU and XCOM 2 was a love letter to those games.

Right now i am playing it after beating it last year, i can feel the learning curve and still feel the pressure of the Avatar shit.

There is nothing saying "RUSH IT FAGGOT" but more like a constant threat that makes you stop fucking around.

Superhuman Ironman in XCOM UFO is a fucking cakewake if you rush PSI, once you unlock it, its pretty much game over, and you can unlock it in less than 2 hour tops

we're talking about xcom 2 tho, but heres your (You) for bragging about games

>tfw buying it on consoles

>a love letter to those games
then why did they strip out so much content and make the games piss easy?

-no time units
-no geoscape
-no multiple bases
-no inventory system for soldiers
-shitty class system that restricts what people can equip
-aliens don't attack your bases
-cannot manually target terrain to destroy it

doesn't sound like a love letter to me

>using PSI
that's basically cheating, humans are not supposed to be able to use alien psionics but they left it in the game anyway, so yeah its pretty fucking easy to win when you are cheating.

there's a reason why humans were disabled from using psionics in Xenonauts, because julian gollop originally never intended the player to gain access to psionics, but left it in anyway.

I honestly don't know how they will make it work, lets just hope consolefags don't ruin it by yelling "it's too hard!!1!"

Wow you're so good at single-player video games. I believe everything you said there and I really respect you. You truly are an authority in this discussion.

>I just want to turn off alien hunters,

You can't? Even with the steam options?

>I just want to turn off alien hunters
Just uninstall the DLC user

EU and EW released on consoles. They were pretty popular user

I wish we can field MECs. Sparkies aren't fun enough.

I find them kinda less versatile. Support MECs were a blast to play.

Was it ever explained how the aliens took over after the first game?

Canon ending of the reboot is you lost really early, before you even got laser weapons.

haven't really looked into it. I've put of 2 until something new comes out hopefully.

Its cheating but its part of the game as it stands, alas 6 squadsight snipers are part of the game and are the equivalent of PSI.

A love letter in this case means something that wants to do the same thing that game did but in a modern standard, it brought back what people felt playing UFO Defense to a new generation.

XCOM on consoles sold very well actually and most who bought it loved it.

It was weird to hear people from my work talking about the damn thing, of course it was not for everyone, like the first game was.

they went with the idea that playing ironman impossible completly blind run was the canon way to play and thus most people lost. Essentially Xcom2 is the hero defeated timeline where winning in 1 is the opposite and all is well.

Also here is how they wanted to do the game.

Here it was their idea of how it would play, but Sid was like "no fuck you, make it more casual"

youtube.com/watch?v=ce9FEQdXDfQ

>skinned the 3 Alien Rulers
>no closure for Valen

What's the fucking point? At least Shen's last gift had a closure or did I miss somewhere?

Remember the time the ayys invaded your base? XCOM 2 canon is that they won that.

And here is a more advance type of prototype with time units, skyranger and manual aim
youtube.com/watch?v=dKS2hz4u7HY

wow, that looks much better than what we got

is that bar in the bottom center a time units bar? looks like burst and snap shot options on it, but i can't tell what is making it decrease

>That Sombrero

Lel

>Tfw I have a 750ti and can run the game better than you

What the FUG

I can get 60fps in TW3 on ultra, too.

What mod is that changes the debriefing screen?

Yup that was suppose to be TU, in this video
You can see them clearly, you could choose the cone of aim that allowed you higher perecent chance to hit, but that meant higher use of TUs, kinda like Xenonauts does it.

If you start digging around, you can see that they wanted to have this type of gameplay, but something up in 2K said that consoles were a must.

So they had to do due with what they had, taking off a lot of shit, Jake, the main dev is a pretty great guy, he really wanted to fight against the console shit but still lose the fight but deliver the game to a new generation.

If i was in this video i would have shit myself in a autistic fit of rage because "muh xcom", but the game really grew on me after the main expansion.

youtube.com/watch?v=T1pyJxcETmc

Those sombreros are part of my main squad outfit of Mexcom

> legendary iron man
It's statisticly impossible.
> good soliders miss every shot , rookies are cannon fodder at best
> ayys rarley miss and always hit with critical
> mission timers
LW is more winnable then that ridiculousnes

>beat XCOM:EU the long war in 12 hours

5/10 for making me reply

steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=623425061

Here m8

Have you played it?

Ayys do miss, mission timers just makes you focus on the objective and i agree they are full of bullshit, rookies miss but they have grenades and you can use high ground to give you bonus to shot with % chance to hit.

Legendary is more about knowing the game systems and the tactics that work.

Who /ODST/ here? I can't play without the Halo ODST, Halo Weapons, and Marine mods now. Now all we need is a Covenant conversion for the ayys

24 hours, learn to read and do basic arithmetic you nigger, two 12 hour play sessions

many peoples played Long War before XCom2, and just getting past the first months on LW Normal/Ironman would give you enough experience to beat Xcom2 I/I on the first playtrough
the only hard part of xcom2 was meeting new enemies for the first time and have to deal with unexpected things

>beating LW in only 24h
did you used dynamic war mode? because you usually have to deal with over 100 missions on a normal LW campaing

Dear user,

you wrote the following:
>i beat xcom:EU on impossible ironman with 6 squadsight snipers, and then after that i beat the long war on I/I as well, which only took me two 12 hour playsessions

Your sentence states that you completed BOTH "xcom:EU on impossible ironman with 6 squadsight snipers" and "the long war on I/I," in the span of "two 12 hour play sessions."

L2 English. Also, you must be over 18 to post here.

nowhere did i state the amount of time it took me to beat EU, and you also completely looked over the
>and then after that
part.

you are autistic fat and gay

Same here
Not a fan of the Spartan armor or weapons , but ODST armor is my default setup

...

>Turn limits

Why did they add this feature to the game?

To selectively punish overwatch creep.

why not remove overwatch and replace it with time units? problem solved

Attack dog mod when?

You are right that I assumed the length of your EU playthrough.

However, you have a grammatical misconception, which I will clear up for you so you don't keep getting Cs on your homework.

"[W]hich only took me two 12 hour playsessions" is a dependent clause that you have separated with a comma. This phrase attaches to BOTH of the preceding independent clauses, because you have linked them with an "and."

Here's a more simple example: "I went to the market, and then I went to the store, in the span of 30 minutes." Here, it's pretty obvious that I went to both the market and the store in 30 minutes.

It's also pretty obvious that the formulation of the sentence is bumfuck retarded. It SHOULD read: "It only took me two 12 hour playsessions to beat EU and Long war I/I..." or something similar.

Don't worry, your English teachers should get to it soon enough. For now, focus on learning from your mistakes, concentrating on using the active voice, and getting the fuck out because you're an underaged summerfag.

As much as I'd prefer something like an AP/initiative system, TUs scare normies and don't mesh with the overarching design of the game at all.

wow not only are you autistic but you are mad as hell too

take your meds and try to be less mad at words on the internet, sport

is that guy on the left an alien?

There is a attack dog mod tho, is in the Final Mod Pack

my pic is from final mod pack I meant for XCOM 2

I really tried to get into the older x-com but it was proved just too difficult for me, guess I'm a filthy casual.

Try Apocalypse. It's a bit more complicated but I like the combat better than the original game.

>all my promoted higher skilled units are wounded and I only have my ignored recruit units available for a very hard abduction mission early in the game
>they have to go up against 3 floaters, 4 sectoids, 3 thin men and 2 seekers
>almost every enemy shot misses and at most they take maybe 2-3 damage each
>when the seekers spawn in I just have everyone huddle nearby in overwatch
>they all somehow survive and get promoted
Sometimes this game is alright.
