THIS FUCKING COMMUNITY
etc.
Empty promises.
Not us much substance as they claimed.
No multiplayer hidden behind a lie.
not enough testosterone on the dev team, clearly
Sounds like it was made entirely by engineers who like making systems and not games. Because damn, it can at least procedurally generate stuff, but everything else is missing or shit.
I actually agree with you on pretty much everything you said. Except that it ran for you 20fps is entirely your fault.
I had the same thing but after I messed with the settings I got 90-120 fps on 1080p and 30-40 2160p (I chose the latter, 1080p looked like upscaled 900p for me)
I'm also not a fucking millenial to get bored after 30 mins of playing because I have to do something for a little while to get familiar and be able to explore and enjoy the whole point of a game.
That saving shit also seems like your issue, the game autosaved everytime I came back into the ship. Once I got off I spent over 2 hours just flying around over planets and exploring and shit was cash,
Hopefully the fun never fades out.
People were awestruck at the size of the game world so the developer figured that's all they needed.
And casuals are eating it up because they still think the size of the game world is more important than how you interact with it.
So it's like The Phantom Pain, only without the action, and no story or characters, and shitty graphics instead of the Fox Engine
MORE LIKE NO GUY BUY
Serious answer: too much ambition for a dev team of only 10 people.
Niche game marketted to widespread audience.
The scope/size.
The game is simply too large, and i don't mean content wise, because there's relatively little content for the size of the game. It's like an ocean that's an ankle deep everywhere - no matter how far from the shore you go, it's always ankle deep.
The planets are too big for a game of this type so every interesting feature is far away(or it would be too much of them on one planet and you'd never lift off it) and you have to tediously get back to your ship, lift off, fly there, land, and then you can discover whatever was there. The landscape is boring - there's no real mountains, or interesting caves, or even really bizarre planets or maybe other celestial bodies to land on, even though you have a space suit.
And regarding the space suit, the mechanics are tedious - you have hazards but the suit doesn't really protect you from them - i mean it does but by expending energy, which is again, tedious and forces you to recharge more or less frequently.
Haxards are few and far between. Looking at Minecraft, it has a few monsters and they aren't really varied all that much, but it's still more than in NMS, which is amazingly boring in terms of combat - nothing in this game is a serious threat and nothing gives you a feeling of dread or makes you fear for your well being, which is boring.
The universe is huge but the encounters are starting to get repetitive fast - combat is always the same, fauna is always acting the same and isn't really varied, minerals aren't that varied for such a huge universe, ships don't get any new functions or don't get much bigger(thing battlecruiser-sized, not just more inventory slots), you don't get new skills, you don't build anything, form alliances, join factions, antagonize anyone or anything. Simply put, you walk around and gather things, which, as i said, is an ocean of knee-depth.
It's not worth $60 no matter how Sony or the devs want to cut it. $30, hell $40 if they wanted to be cheeky.
Are you serious guys? If you expected this to run properly than maybe this game isn't for you. NMS was never about running properly, idk where people got this from. Maybe you should lower your expectations, because for me this is exactly what I wanted.
It fucks me off hard that you can't mouse look when in your ship. FUCKING CONSOLES
>200 000 peak players
200 000 * 60$ = 12 million $ on the first day just from PC
oh boy, Sup Forums were you wrong or what
>le millennial meme
you had good bait until then
lol
sony
People expected too much of a tiny studio.
I'm a console player and I fucking despise it as well, you can't even look at the goddamn roof or out the sides properly. Ace fucking combat had this shit taken care of.
Sony grabbed this niche game made by a tiny dev team by the balls, marketed the hell out of it by purposely keeping the actual details of the game vague, and people were disappointed because it wasn't as good as they made it out to be. Everybody had to fill in the blanks with all the unwarranted hype.
But they made their money, so they don't give a shit. Now the developers will have to answer for all the let down and will probably have a really tough time making games in the future.
50% goes to steam
50% of the rest goes to taxes
This.
The game seems to run really well on chips with high single threaded performance.
so they get 25%, out of 12 000 000 $ 25% is 3 000 000 $, not too bad for the first day
>no one refunded, honestly guize
kek, stay delusional
used to work for EA so it's a given.
jesus, at least half the guys in that pic seem to suffer from testosterone deficiency.
sauce?
So you're not suffering from bad textures or pop in 5 feet in front of your face then?
post a pic of yourself you cunt
People will buy anything if you market it aggressively.
WHY
DO

GAME?
>No play bye

I'd prefer it if you used female pronouns, user.
Did data mining prove that characters don't have a model yet?
For the entire time I played the game, I felt like a floating head, couldn't see even a spec of my own character model, at any point.
>spent 5k building pc
>game isn't for me
Oh well, i have disposable income but not going to buy this shit. Thank you for convincing me
Going with the concept in the first place. The creatures and planets behave the same way, if you've seen one you've seen all of them. I guess it's impossible to make the behavior procedurally generated but then just don't make the game. I guess this concept can be fun with some kind of roguelike with you and enemies having random overpowered abilities but mining shit with different textures around you is simply not fun.
But this would have been a pretty legit way of getting some basic chemistry if I was still in school so there is that.
People expected too much from a game made by a small group of people who made one racing game before this, all the while knowing it would be a randomly generated space minecraft, but assuming the content would somehow be limitless.
Multiplayer would not help this game. Fuck off with the 100 daily threads about how he is the "next Todd Howard" crap.
Because it was advertised way too heavily.
And people defend this game way too hard.
post the specs
what the fuck did they advertise to make anyone give a shit about this indie exploration game?
>Uhhh procedural generation, and uhhhhhhhhhhhhh`?????
>Sup Forums - Video Games
>WHY DO YOU CARE ABOUT VIDEO GAMES
*50% of the rest goes to texas
ftfy :^)
are you a literal sony shill?
why do you defend this game otherwise?
>3rd stage of grief

b-but they have beards! beard are manly...
>random words that make no sense
t-thanks for the reply.
Wow look at all those numales.
>average review score is a 6/10
>some IGN outlets giving it a 9/10
lel
Many people are naturally drawn to the idea of exploring space. There really aren't many games out there that have done it well (NMS hasn't really either) and I suppose people conflated their own dreams of exploring the universe with the actual features of the game.
The ambiguity is really what carried the game since I doubt nearly as many people would have given a shit if they showed raw extended gameplay footage of the thing. It straddles the line between atmospheric exploration game and survival game, but fails to capitalize on the positive aspects of either and just becomes a shallow tedious mess.
The game was advertised hard as fuck, but people were also fucking idiots for expecting anything other than mediocrity.
This is a screenshot from the steam store
does this ever happen in the game?
>40 fps at 1440p with 7970 and fx8320
Eh, I'll take it
Yes, but it's not nearly as fun or engaging as it should be. Just a few seconds of flavor in an otherwise empty universe. Combat is pretty ass too.
I'm actually surprised at how hideous those textures are though for an official screenshot.

FOR ANYONE HAVING FPS ISSUES!

First, update drivers. Not sure if it's what fixed it for me but it can't hurt (unless you have nVidia card that's not 900 series kek).
Then, enter options, and DISABLE VSYNC!!
my game had constant stutter and dropped below 30fps all the time. I disabled Vsync and now I get 60-90FPS in space and 45-60fps on planets.
This. They marketed the game all wrong. Also Sean shouldn't have gone on all the talk shows spouting lies about the game.
honestly graphics/stutterfest/lack of content aside
MINING!
the worst part is mining
>we want minecraft crowd
was the idea? god
underage leave
It looks upscaled as fuck. This is is getting rendered at 900p mark my words. It's the same effect at 1080p.
I wonder if I play at 720p...? Perhaps I'll get crisp edges that way?

Incoming ban I guess.
When witcher 3 was about to come it went:
>trailer showing the world and characters and everyone was hyped
>gameplay trailer, people got even more hyped
>launch cinematic, everyone was cumming at that point
>10/10's, 9/10's across the board and everyone knew it was best game in recent history
No mans sky:
>uh, it has space exploration and procedular generation and you cant see any gameplay footage lol
>OMG JESUS CHRIST
>60 threads on Sup Forums daily
>TAKE MY MONEY HELLO GAMES
>reviews: 5/10, 7/10 6/10...
>TAKE MY MONEY HELLO GAMES
I feel im going insane.
Disabling G-Sync also works quite well if you don't actually have gsync support. You have to edit the config files manually for that.
Also make yourself a favor and bump the FOV to 120. It's vertical, not horizontal degrees.
>all planets have life
but that's wrong
There are people on Sup Forums who are too young to remember Spore.
This is the only reason the game was hyped in the first place.
The oldtimers saw the red flags (randomly generated planets, devs dodging gameplay questions) right away.
So has anyone else tried meeting up apart from the guys that tried and failed?
it will look the same but blurrier
...
this
I don't understand what the fuck is the game engine doing then. WHY IS IT SO FUCKING BLURRY??
Am I going blind guys?
>clunky as fuck controls
>need to restart the game when you change any graphics option
>have to hold the mouse button to change graphics options even once
>looks like garbage even with a decent art style
>pop in
>terrible fov
>those terrible animals
Wouldn't want to suffer through it with a friend. I haven't played Don't Starve multiplayer yet and I feel it's the same thing but ten times more interesting.
I literally spent 3 hours on a barren planet and found nothing. I'm glad random reddit posts are fact to you though.
it did nothing elite didnt do nearly 30 years ago apart from look nice
steam only takes 20%
this annoys the heck out of me
I wanted comfy mars exploration I got same freaking cactus on every planet
>mfw 90% refund rate
texture artist didn't make proper textures that's it
if mods will be possible I can see game looking good in a year time
It's elite dangerous with a instagram filter on PC.
>we will never get a good space exploration game
Starbound came close but then just made it terraria with loading screens and took out all the fun shit.
Sony.
Indie studio with Sony level hype. They couldn't live up to the hype train being built under them so it ran them over.
Sucks too, it was a good concept. But because they had to meet deadlines and try to live up to the expectations being built for them it seems like they rushed the ever-loving shit out of it and released it incomplete. It probably could have been an amazing game with another 6 months to a year of development.
Oh well, I'll probably grab it when I can get a used copy for like 20 bucks. It can't be so bad it's not worth a 25 hour casual playthrough.
