The Saturn is my baby. I region modded it and also installed a mod chip years ago. My favorite system. It really doesn't get the love it deserves outside of Japan.
Playing bomberman against 9 people must be an unique experience
I play it on fightcade #pleb&proud
i can just play it on my ps3 or fightcade
I'm a britbong and don't feel confident enough swapping power supplies. Also import prices for just a system on it's own without wires and pads are stupid high
Because it is also on PSx, a not shit platform.
Stop baiting.
Can this be a Sega Saturn appreciation thread?
>PS1 arcade fighting game ports
Did Saturn get mass-produced USB mods yet? I'm not dealing with ancient lasers.
...
But I do own those you fucking faggot
5th gen is retro?
Everything up to Dreamcast is. And it's about time /vr/ starts covering the rest of 6th gen too, it would improve this board tenfold.
Just barely, but yeah.
>And it's about time /vr/ starts covering the rest of 6th gen too
Oh yeah, I can't wait for all that 6th gen console war shitposting.
Hopefully the rules stay the way they are, 1999 is a decent limit, although I'd personally place that limit up to 1993 or so. Retro gaming changed a lot when 5th gen and 3D gaming took over.
>not playing it on MAME/any CPS2 emulator instead
I love the Saturn but loading times suck
>I'll feel great after I kill everything in this world.
I play it on fightcade and Kawaks because I'm a poorfag.
best girl
>Not owning a CPS2 cabinet so you can play the game as intended
But Vampire Savior on Saturn doesn't have loading times, only once when you press start in the title screen, and it's a -10 seconds loading. The rest of the game goes smooth without loading times, thanks to the ram cart.
>MAME/emulators
Emulation is fine and all, but never cycle-perfect. Also, none of the arcade versions included both Savior and Hunter characters together.
I don't have enough space for a cabinet but that'd be sweet.
Ah right, I never actually did play this on the Saturn, my bad. And yeah they're not cycle perfect, SF2T:HF is one of the worst for this as it's much faster emulated than on the CPS1 board but they're better than the console versions most of the time.
already own it on saturn though
unless this is DS3? thats on playstation
>There are people out there who think the Vampire series was good at anything besides art
Vampire Savior (DS3) is on Saturn, but it was only released in Japan.
>there are people
I have a Saturn and a couple games for it. Good games for the system cost so much though, so next time I visit Japan I will stop a by a Super Potato for some Saturn and Famicom games.
I have an Action Replay 4M Plus.
The only game that uses the 4M part is Street Fighter Zero 3, though.
(You)
thats what i thought.
lucky for me, i got both my Night Warriors and DS3 at the same flea market, from the same dude but about 3 years apart. wish he had more saturn shit though, stuff is impossible to find.
that sucks
D&D collection doesn't?
i only got SFA3 on dreamcast, was that the best home port outside of arcade?
It's dead for a reason despite Ono shilling the fuck out of it wherever he could. No one actually liked to play this filth.
(You)
That I own, sure. XvSF and MSHvSF do too.
Oh, and, yes, I think SFA3 on Saturn is the best version to play. SFA3 MAX is the best version overall just for all the extra fluff but it certainly doesn't control the best.
the GBA version ain't bad for what the GBA could do with it.
...
No, it's not, but apparently Capcom cheaped the fuck out and ordered the game be produced on an 8MB cart instead of a 16 or 32MB cart (I got this from TVTropes so it's a bit suspect but it does sort of make sense from a business perspective). It could have been even better.
I got a Saturn recently. Exactly what should I get for it? Like, would a modchip be viable? Action Replay? Both? Or should I wait for that SD loader?
Don't mind me, just dropping this here.
Wasn't that just CC games? Didn't Tekken perform fine?
superior version coming through
How the pricing for Saturn these days? I got a PC-engine a couple months ago and the price wasn't even a 100 dollars.
i was wrong on that, i meant SF2 revival
oh look, another dead franchise!
so fucking many dead franchises from sega its sad as fuck playing sonic racing transformed. i can't stop being angry and sad at the same time.
Namco's arcade board for Tekken was based on playstation.
Most 2D ports of fighting games (Capcom, SNK, Data East, you name it) are better on Saturn, especially those who use the extra RAM which are nearly arcade perfect, but even those who don't are still better on Saturn, like Alpha 2.
That's actually the worst home version after the PS1 port.
>dreamcast controller
No.
>not using an ascii controller
>vibration on saturn pad
Haram.
For Matching Service is still considered to be a weak effort by Capcom. Not as good as VS on Saturn.
I want one of these but everything is rare.
I have this, though, so I'm happy (wish I had a second one but whatever).
How does that help for the Dreamcast?
Oh wait duh, I mixed that one up with the PS3 version of the Saturn pad
how do i make it run in 240p aaaa
the codes for every other capcom game don't work on it
I have a JP Sega Saturn but I'm playing it with an ArcadeVGA graphic card so I can play it online on a Fightcade at 240p
>Emulation is fine and all, but never cycle-perfect
Probably far more accurate than the Saturn version going by my experience with shmups.

Get an AR and flash it with pseudosaturn
But then what would I use for saving? Unless they found a way to still use the memory card portion
Saturn Rhea
wait for V2
It will play all your Saturn games on SD cards and save your laser
>mugen
I use an official memory cart to backup saves every now and then, but you should use an internal memory, it's $1 and they can last years. Just make a backup every couple months or however often you feel like.
Anyway if you can get a modchip or a rhea that's also cool. I just don't trust the AR4 saving feature because it corrupted my save files once. Nowadays I only use it for pseudosaturn and extra RAM.
What will the V2 do?

it took me the longest time to realize that the tower of arrogance stage was on the side of a skyscraper looking down on the streets below. I used to think that it was the interior of some sort of spaceship until i realized the helicopter was a helicopter.
Well V1 isn't for sale.
Exact same thing happened to me, blew my mind when I realized.
We all thought that.
It's very hard to see on a composite television.
It's pretty clear once you realize what it is though. It's mainly the weird angle what confuses people. The buildings around seem like the gates of a space ship hangar, and the street lights look like stars.
The helicopter gives it away but most of the time you're focused on the characters and not the background.
But I do have one

>Not having a hacked CPS2/3, Naomi 1/2 on your Sega New Astro City and Naomi Universal.
Seriously get on my fucking level.
Not everyone is a basement dweller
I got vampire savior for it too
And a bunch of other 4MB cart games
I have Vampire Savior for it as well
And a bunch of other 4MB cart games
What's your excuse for not playing the highest IQ character in the game?
Because Q-Bee is more fun
I doubt any real basement dweller would have money to buy himself an actual arcade cabinet.
we'll never get stages that good again in a fighting game
Is it as easy as buying a saturn and copy of this on ebay and playing? What is a 4GB RAM cart?
>tfw waiting for one of these to be mass produced
Her form is just so perfect
>At Flea Market
>See a Saturn with a Warhammer game
>No price
>Have to wait for the owner of the booth to drive in from town to give me a price
>Warhammer case is cracked, the controller is 3rd party and I think it's missing one of the cords
>This fat fuck wants EIGHTY DOLLARS CANADIAN FOR IT
Nice little collection, here is mine, supposed to have shining the holy ark come in the day or so but meh shipping from japan is so fucking slow at times
...
victors isn't high IQ he just sucks
You do understand the saturn roughly sells between 40-60+ easily depending on the condition and model, not a cheap system to buy off the self really.
What I do understand is that scalpers and resellers are the fucking cancer of the retro game market
So in otherwords you're a poorfag that doesn't want to pay small price for a system that is becoming rare outside the US,get fucked nigger.
I thought it was commonly found in Japan since it did way better there?
Anyways I care about the hobby for what it's truly about, the games, and fucking jewfaggots who get their jollies off hoarding multiple copies of a game to resell them need to have their first born drowned. Melee is a goddamn multi-million seller and I'm seeing pawn shops and flea markets charge 60 dollars for used copies with no manual.
RIP my bad,it's actually rare outside japan, not the US.
Found the jew
>samefagging this hard
Funny how one can release 18+ adult games on Saturn. The SNES and PS1 version got censored.
