>It's really fun if you turn your brain off.
>Don't think about it, it's just FUN.
What does this even mean? Seriously? How does anyone "turn their brain off"? That sounds amazing. you can just stop thinking, and suddenly everything that appears like shit looks like sparkles and rainbows? What a life luxury. I wish I had that.
It's really fun if you turn your brain off
"It's fun if you ignore its flaws"
Does that make more sense?
aka when digibro was right.
>"i can't accept a game for it's quality while excusing it's flaw"
how do you ever enjoy any game?
No, that doesn't make more sense. It's just another way of saying the same thing.
>I can't discuss flaws, because I enjoy the game as a whole.
How do you ever express a critical thought?
>please spoonfeed me
Rough translation:
>it's good if you're a shiteating retard like me
>it's FUN with FRIENDS
Everything I do is more fun with friends, except masturbating. If I was going to be murdered I would rather my friends were there, we could have a nice laugh about how we are dying like idiots.
Fun with friends is so meaningless. Good games are fun with friends and so are bad games. The only time a game is less fun with friends is if you have friends that you don't like or don't like you.
You're autistic if you can't understand something as simple as that. It'd be like, if you were someone who can't enjoy a movie or play, because you know its fake and acted out.
i do recognize flaws, but that doesn't mean i can't enjoy games that have flaws
>except masturbating.
Don't jump the gun on that one.
Oh, so you recognize flaws, but *talking* about the flaws is bad? If you talk about flaws, then the game is impossible to enjoy.
Or, if the game has a lot of flaws, so long as it has that one good oasis of good design surrounded by a sea of piss, then it's fine.
the negative emotion you experience when you play a bad game has been conditioned to happen because your brain has developed reflexive neural pathways around wahtever aspects you find unappealing. think pavlov's dog: the ringing bell of shitty gameplay is making you salivate hate. the trick is to condition yourself back out of this reaction, so you can properly filter the frustratingly bad aspects out of otherwise mediocre games, and appreciate the gems of goodness deep in the shit.
the fun people are much better at turning off their critical reasoning as a whole, which is something you can either do or not. usually a very bad idea to make a habit of it.
so are you seriously suggesting that any flaws makes a game become shit?
where did i suggest that talking about flaws is bad?
once a game does have a certain amount of flaws it becomes unenjoyable, but otherwise just if a game has a few flaws like including mindless grinding that doesn't instantly make it bad
A good example is Dragon's Dogma. The story, lore, etc. is abysmal but the combat and mechanics are some of the best on the market for ARPGs.
Or... (get this crazy notion) Sometimes it's not worth enduring shit, just to get a few good morsels of entertainment.
Better than starving to death waiting for something good. Finite supply and all that.
>where did i suggest that talking about flaws is bad?
In the way you've decided to respond to the thread. In no way did I suggest that discussing flaws of a game automatically makes a game shit. However, that is how to attacked my argument anyway. Everything I say, you twist into your strawman argument, where pointing out flaws makes games shit.
You're the typical guy who, whenever critical discussion happens, tries to diminish it as much as possible. Rather than joining in.
>he doesn't know how to turn off their brain
What are you? Autistic?
honestly, the more i see this type of thinking, the more i think that there CAN be such a thing as too high standards
sometimes toning down your critical thinking can be healthy for you mentally, cause otherwise you'll just be negative about everything and focus on the negatives all the time
What are you talking about? There's a ton of fun shit to do. We live in the most entertainment rich time ever. We're spoiled with entertainment.
Or maybe the thing you like is actually shit, and there are other things that are way more fun out there.
maybe because i don't see much point in focusing on the bad parts of things instead of enjoying the good
He owned you bro
You don't feel good in comparing knowledge and tastes?
You don't feel good in brainstorming new approaches, and ideas on how to refine?
You only feel good when you consume without question or concern?
what do you even find enjoyable with an attitude like that?
your standards seem so fucked that you wouldn't be able to enjoy much of anything nowadays
I enjoy a lot of things. Why would you think that just because I don't like shit, that I don't like anything?
Do you like everything? How can you go through life like that? Just enjoying everything?
>he didn't jerk off with his friends
Missing out dude
90% of it is unpalatable garbage whose premise was hammered into the ground before there was a printing press. games barely even have a mainstream outlet that reliably produces good content; instead people just pile their hopes and dreams onto whatever gets shat out.
I'm tired of it. I'm tired of the shit. this way, there is no shit. only unnecessary parts.
This is a bit different, but I paradoxically play puzzle games like Tetris much MUCH BETTER when I zone out and don't actively think. When I think, level 20 is hard, but when I relax and go with the flow I finish it before I even know it and am always so surprised by how easy it seems.
and you're the type of person who will mindlessly shit on a game because Sup Forums told you it's bad, have a knee-jerk hatred towards it, and then say "W-WELL I'M JUST LOOKING AT IT OBJECTIVELY"
ITT: jaded cunts who can't enjoy anything
10% is a lot.
>its fun if you ignore its flaws
>its good if you ignore the bad things about it
Turning your brain off isn't the same as a flow state. Flow states are a real thing. It's essentially your brain being on, but unencumbered by doubt. When you are practiced in something, and then get in the state where you have no doubt or fear, then you enter a flow state.
It's not the same as not thinking, because you can still think critically.
yeah, but that 10% has been ground up for grist in much-larger-but-still-marginal projects which obscure the clever thing the one writer amongst 20 managed to keep from getting cut.
No I'm not. Why would you think of me like that? There's literally no reason to think I think that way.
I barely understood your previous post. And I absolutely do not understand this post. You've lost me.
>its good if you ignore the bad things about it
I didn't say that. People can enjoy playing bad games.
Have you ever been playing cards with your friends and you are mostly always winning and finishing first instead of having fun and trying to fuck up the rest? That's pretty much it
What? I haven't played cards in years. And everyone who was having fun, had a better understanding of the game and would play well.
dangit.
what i'm saying is, the only way to find the 10% is usually by filter-feeding the 90% it's been embedded in. otherwise, you'll only see the 2-3% that are high-quality, complete, unified works and the remaining 7% of good content goes to waste. and it's pretty easy to burn through that 2-3%.
I find your figures to be dubious. As I've no problem finding enjoyable material.
Maybe you just have too much time on your hands?
You know like playing with friends that dont even care about winning, im talking about games like uno for example where you try to fuck up the rest instead of trying to win
I don't understand. You win uno by fucking other people up. And it's fun.
kys you lack base understanding
it's true, society is normally calibrated around my situation being abnormal, and the great gate of piracy is probably closing. my figures are also definitely also made up, but even someone who only spends two or three hours a day watching movies will have seen every really good one by the time they are in their 30s, sooner if they see the right sequence of them. they will also have had the bar set so high that 70-90% of what they -could- see will not only not be worth viewing, but also basically not for them.
this is the beginning of old age and the long, conscious march towards death.
