None of the Fallout games are good.

It's an okay game. Far way too many flaws in pretty much every category to call it anything better than okay.

I'm enjoying it at the moment only because I'm rolling in full Brotherhood power armour and gatling lasers with Danse as we cleanse the Commonwealth of impurities.

It started out as an RPG, and ends as a Single player FPS.

You chose this path with your wallets as you did with the Resident Evil series. Deal with it.

It's a fun Looter Shooter with light RPG elements. Mechanically TRPG Fallout > Looter Shooter Fallout > Action RPG Fallout.

The worst thing about fallout 4 is that I have to run through a plot that I don't care about.

Fallout 4 would have been a lot better if they had gone with a blank slate character like they've always done with TES. Forcing a backstory and defined character in a choose-your-own-adventure game kills a lot of the replay value. The fact that FO4's mod scene is already stagnating is proof enough of that.

At least Bethesda realizes they fucked up by forcing a voiced, defined player character.

I agree op. Berhesda games are like junk food. You know it's bad for you and not much love or artistry went into it.. But it feels really good going down and it's really easy to eat a lot of it.

Quests are god aweful in Fallout 4. I was literally going to uninstall it when I got the "Bring back Ashes the cat back to Vault 81" mission. I was expecting this mission to be fun like searching for clues and then finding the cat. But nope, the quest marker pops up and indicates the exact location of the cat magically.

Every other quest is shit too. I didn't uninstall it because I got Curie just after the Cat mission.

It's not a good RPG either - You have so little choice that it truly annoys me that you even get to pick between different conversation options when they all lead to the same conclusion either way.

They did the gunplay correctly though. It is quite satisfying. And I found it entertainining to play it on Ironman/Hardcore mode on the highest difficulty setting. (1 death = delete character, no reloads)

I watched a stream of it shortly after it came out. Within a minute of gameplay, about four different glitches occurred. Some debris in the street started fucking exploding into the sky for no reason, dead bodies were fidgeting, one of the NPCs had a pathing issue where he got stuck in a pothole or something, and then warped like ten feet ahead.

Meh, it's not that good. Maybe I'm just getting jaded but it just seemed so repetitive. Go here, shoot this. Go there shoot that. It didn't hold my attention nearly as well as New Vegas.

Its a good Fallout.

Fallout 4 is what I'd call an "Expensive-looking" game.

It's got some pretty high production values. Even though it's nowhere near the prettiest game out there, it's pretty good looking for how big it is.

As a game though, it's largely unsatisfying. A low-middling first person shooter stuck onto mediocre RPG elements with a dialogue menu that's somehow even worse than modern bioware games. The main plot is garbage, most of the sidequests are too, especially the procedurally generated ones that don't rise above the level of "go here, kill this"

Then you have your settlement mechanic, which is pretty neat at first, but since the settlers are lifeless husks that don't do anything interesting, whatever fun you have at that is purely up to the limits of your own level of autism.

If anyone else had made it, I'd call it an ambitious first effort that falls a bit short of the mark. But since this is bethesda, the company that is known for making this exact sort of game over and over again, I'll call it a lazy, by the numbers sequel with a graphics facelift.
