Skyward Sword is the epitome of the proof of this. Link is wearing a hat for fuck's sake. There's no continuity, the hat wasn't introduce into the legend until Minish Cap. Until then, other heroes such as Gustav the Hero of Man emulated the Skyward Heroes who ALSO did not wear a hat.

Nintendo does not care about Canon, least of all about Zelda. The entirety of the Zelda "Timeline" they crafted also makes zero sense beyond the hat.

1-2 and Past's timeline were all based on the logic that Ganon won the first war, only to be sealed later by the Hero.

Ocarina of Time being an origin story for those timelines made it so either of the timelines mentioned would be impossible to support those 3 games, so they literally went out and MADE UP a timeline that never happened to put the other games in.

Even the split logically has to happen the second you see WW's intro, since it's from the perspective of never having gone back in time after Zelda sends Link back.

Zelda canon is very disconnected and episodic. It's not official canon because Nintenso rivals Disney in obsessively protecting their IPs, but if one were to consider them canon it wouldn't negatively affect anything in the official timeline.
