Shit was pretty damn fun, the community eventually became terrible but those first few weeks after launch/DLC releases, racing with Sup Forums was fantastic.

I live with 3 other people. We literally play MK8 every single day (200cc only of course), and have been doing so since it came out. We have been become extremely good at it.

I agree with everything else you said except character selection. I dunno if it's the best, but it's a great game with tons of effort put in it (and kind of rushed at the same time). I brought it a few days ago.
Online mode kinda sucks, though.

I liked MK7, but I thought it was bland. I feel like they just ported MKWii to 3DS. The flying gimmick is nice, it holds the best RR course, and the character selection is rather unique, but still.

I didn't think it was that bad, but the AI fucking you over 10 seconds before the race is over gets me raging. Battle mode was done relatively well also.
I'm not the first to say so, but even though it had 32 tracks, I felt like it could have had much more.

It doesn't have the best roster, but the tracks were fun and the soundtrack was just amazing.
Also, lakitu being faster was a nice way to not let a single item skullfuck your entire race.

The Wii U has given me massive blue balls in regards to racing.

Even though nearly all the bugs have been fixed, they're supporting it with the upcoming DLC and it's even getting a physical release; I remember how badly they fucked their own game over and I get mad all over again.
I wouldn't even be mad if it was a bad game but the actual gameplay was fucking excellent.

It is really good. I've played Mario Kart since the first and 8 is my favorite.
Probably best party game of this gen and the best Mario Kart imo. I would wait to see what NX is before buying a Wii U for Mario Kart though. Also I guarantee Wii U will be getting bundles and fat price drops this black friday.
The only real problem is the lack of battle maps.
Someone from GBATemp is modifiying the courses from Battle mode to make them look like actual Battle maps.
