The only positive thing about VR is that it's helpful for simulation training. Whatever gimmick gaming shits out (wiimote/kinect) usually ends up being a cheap alternative for training pilots or some shit.

I have a lot of fun with Battle Dome and Hover Junkers. Those are multiplayer shooters.

Chair in a Room is hands down the most terrifying horror game I have ever played only because of physically being in these rooms and uncomfortable situations. Someone is modding Penumbra: Overture to be roomscale. Cannot wait for that.

It's pretty fun physically ducking, dodging and taking cover from incoming shots. Something non VR games (including Kinect) cannot do.

I don't think the games are the biggest problem, It's the ridiculously expensive headsets and computer requirements.

Like, I was planning on waiting to see if this VR thing dies out like 3D TVs or if it gets better and cheaper from here but... such a short product cycle is worrying. There's literally no point in buying a VR headset now, since you never know if by the time they get their idiotic shipping issues untangled and you actually get your headset they're not going to announce another one. Even Apple doesn't announce new iPhones and iPads this fast.

That would be pretty awesome. Hell I would be cool with a shipping dock simulator, From up in those high container elevators loading and unloading cargo ships. To literally anything that has a control center/cockpit base that you operate from. X-Wing vs Tie Fighter multiplayer sim would be cool too. Perfect for VR.

People are also severely underestimating Roomscale.

It literally changes everything. Something like this was unheard of until the Vive came out. Being able to walk around, bend over and pick up things, duck, dodge etc with 1:1 tracking gives you an unmatched level of immersion.

It's not that it's dead, well it's dead. But how can you bring it to life when no one wants to heavily invest in a game for it because it doesn't have a large user base? And second, I'm just guessing, how do you know big games aren't in development for it? It's a completely new technology. You can't tell me you expected the holy grail of vr games to come out with its release to the public?

I always get worried about room scale. Like, do people trip over the wires and shit? I wouldn't be surprised, you literally can't see them with the headset on and maybe you'll trip over them after instinctively dodging a laser blast or whatever.

It looks like it's in beta/early access/whatever but that's pretty cool!

I got to try the Vive at a windows store. It got really hot, it was cool but It's too expensive and my computer space is too small to set it up for it to be worth the money.

You don't trip over the wires, it's very easy to subconsciously track where they are in your head. They are annoying though. Basically if you have to turn/spin in place a lot you will have to step over it now and again. Not a huge deal.

I sometimes get wrapped up in the wire with a game like the Brookhaven experiment, but unless you're a savage that's wearing shoes while you're playing you can feel it on your foot and leg, and the wire is long as fuck so if you manage to get it taut that's insane.

All current consoles support motion controls, as did the previous generation of consoles.

Almost no game still uses them though, except for shovelware for the Move/Kinect and a handful of games on the Wii U like Splatoon and Nintendoland.

I know exactly one game that supports 3D for 3D TVs and that's Shadow of the Colossus on the PS3.

I don't think VR will quite disappear, simply because it makes too much money. I do think that they released it prematurely, the technology isn't quite there yet. I mean, it's possible and all but it costs too much for too little reward. Maybe in 3 years we'd have something that's cheap enough for the average consumer and of enough quality to warrant the purchase.
