Started replaying it on PS4 and remembering why I loved it.
Why does everyon hate this again?
No idea
It's about as good as 4, really
it felt like a downgrade from RE4.
but RE5 is still better than RE6
It's a rehash of 4.
It does the same things except add multi player and actually ties up the storyline.
It's a good game just not as fresh as 4. I found it more difficult and better paced than 4 but it too missed a lot of good opportunities for horror and cool sequences like it's predecessor.
Also give Sheva a sniper rifle and put her on cover mode for people playing on consoles solo. You're welcome
It had great gameplay but none of the fucking charm or memorability of 4. It was always just a worse 4 with better graphics.
But I'll take a more boring 4 over what we got with RE6 which is unplayable dogshit.
Its not fun as a single player game because the AI is idiot.
It devolves in to completely mindless shooting pretty poorly in the later chapters. Seriously, that whole set of levels on the tanker is bad
Sheva a shit, in several ways but kinda hot regardless
Boss design is mostly poor/mediocre
Thet said, Wesker/Jill butt/Lost in Nightmares and Mercs make it enjoyable.
I give Sheva the stun rod and both kinds of armors until I unlock infinite ammo for a gun, that is the only time she is fucking allowed to shoot
>Its not fun as a single player game because the AI is idiot.
she's good with a rifle. The only time the AI fucked me was the Wesker/Jill fight on the highest difficulty
Whats the one mode that all RE fans like? Mercs. The game became what most fans liked.
"Then let's go take care of business!"
Has there ever been a more empowering line in all of Resident Evil?
How depressing.
It's a good game but it was no fucking match for 4 and they made it too bland aside from Wesker being maximum DMC3 ham mode.
Sheva is still best girl though and needs to come back.
Because it's shit by yourself. If you got a friend its better but still disappointing.
REnewfag here, I've only ever played RE5-6, and have seen a little bit of RE4 gameplay.
I found myself preferring RE5 over 6 overall, partially because 6 is drowned in too much bombast and weird camera angle changes. Japanese developers who are too overtly aware of "being Japanese" like to say that Japanese gamers prefer it that way, but honestly I can't see how mixing third person self-directed camera and forced camera angles satisfied either.
I heard that 4 allowed you to do more with your treasures and stuff, while 6 doesn't even let you share ammo. 6 also took over 100 people to design an online multiplayer. Because when I think Resident Evil, I think COD. That sums up the differences between the two.
Replayed this via coop the sat after its release. Silly fun, exactly what RE is to me. Already preordered re4 for x1 even tho i own it on gc,ps2 and pc already.
How far into re6 do I have to get to play coop? Ive never beaten it and want to beat it before 7.
RE7 is literally retconning 6 so you really don't have to play it. You shouldn't force yourself to suffer like that.
Its the only numbered re game i never finished, i already own it on steam. Plus i plan to play it via "couch" coop sitting next to my buddy pc to pc. Even if its the worst game ever, itll be fun
it's racist
Because it's worse than 4 and 6
>couch co-op
literally the worst possible way you can play it. when you play via couch, it doesn't spawn separate instances of ammo when enemies are killed for each player, making it almost unplayable.
thank god the melee is good enough for most of the regular enemies, get used to punching and wrestling
4 yes
6 no. 6's Mercenaries isn't even really better than 5's, but the campaigns are fucking incomparable.
Dunno. Enjoyed it far more than RE4. Played it both solo and in co-op.
Re6 can be played coop from the get-go.
>doesn't spawn separate instances of ammo
That would have been fixed if we could share ammo, I wonder why the dev team decided not to include that. So many times I would get loaded with ammo for my teammate's gun and he would be out.
>RE 6 Campaign
Michael Bay to the max. Legit got a headache from Jake Muller Action Badass. Only redeeming factors are Sherry and Ada cheesecake.
Had some fun in Leon's campaign and that was about it.
We'll be on two sepeate pcs on two seperate tvs via internet. Couch coop just meant we will be sitting next to each other and pulling a mst3k
Leon's campaign was the one I hated the most. He has the worst bosses, Helena is the most hateable character in series history, and all the moments where it pretended to be a horror game legitimately pissed me off.
Chris's campaign was way better. Best bosses, Piers is a bro, story was good, no stupid stealth shit like Sherry or empty college shit like Leon.
That sounds like good fun. Been playing with a friend in the Netherlands but it would be nice to be playing in the same room.
Hope it goes smoothly for you.
I honestly don't think people do.
Yea, opinions on the game as a RE game are poor, but you'll almost always here that same person mention how it's the ultimate bro-op adventure.
I don't "hate" it but once was more than enough for me. I just got tired of this game's spiel very quickly, 90% of the game is enemy waves and setpieces. Even RE4 had you do things that wasn't shoot not zombies every once in a while. By the time I was halfway through I was craving for any deviance in pacing I could get and savored every fucking moment I wasn't killing things for the umpteenth time as few and far between as they were. Parts like the motorboat level, cave puzzles and the beginning of the lab were nice changes of pace but still too brief for my liking, it still felt like the game thought I'd get bored if I hadn't killed something in 5 minutes. It's not even that the game isn't functional but it's just so damn samey throughout, and the QTEs and fucking cover shooter mechanics didn't exactly help matters. And while I admit that I played it solo I can be spared the "but it's fun with friends!" angle because a friend wouldn't have fixed the monotony. I was glad when it was finally over, and I have no intention of revisiting the game anytime soon.
Because you can shoot niggers?
Found myself shouting "die you fucking niggers" multiple times during my playthrough
Are you okay, user?
re7 sucks lol
"its not as good as 4"
and then people forget that the only good parts of 4 were the visits to the small village.
4 definitely has its flaws but 5 still isn't as good as 4.
but it improved on every category as a game including co-op
>muhstory
>muhatmosphere
Because Resident Evil is a PURE HORROR game series and any form of multiplayer is antithetical to the PURE HORROR EXPERIENCE that Resident Evil has always been.
Honestly though, RE5 was seriously fun. Story / level progression was reused from 4, but whatever.
I always liked it. It's like 4 but worse, which still equates to a pretty good game.
The real surprise is how much I enjoyed RE6 on PS4. I rented it when it first came out for PS3 and thought Leon's campaign was mediocre and the others were horrible. But on a whim I got the PS4 version and it's actually solid. Jake's campaign kind of sucks but Chris and Leon have good ones and Ada's is okay. Well worth the $20.
>co-op
We'll have to disagree on what's important then. I do prefer 5's inventory system, that much I'll give it. Attache case is less inventory management and more inventory Tetris.
That mutant arm tho.
Also I always judge Resident Evil lightly on story. The grand storyline is already so ridiculous that I don't really take anything seriously. What I did appreciate from Leon's campaign and Chris' campaign as well were the enemy waves, and admittedly I was playing them more like a third-person shooter than anything else.
What were the absolute worst parts of the game for you? I think mine was either the titty monster fight on the airplane or the FUCKING COOP EXPLODING PUZZLE HOLY SHIT WHY
>What were the absolute worst parts of the game for you? I think mine was either the titty monster fight
When you have uttered this exact sequence of words your game is objectively a failure.
...
I wanted to fucking play this game on steam with a friend, but the split screen mod ONLY works with the GFWL version, WHICH DOESN'T FUCKING SUPPORT SAVING THE GAME BECAUSE IT WENT FUCKING DOWN!
>make game have new game plus mode
>give players OP weapons, infinite ammo, and remove all possible challenge from the game
why
>boost up difficulty
>don't use infinite ammo
There, I fixed the game for you.
The inventory system sucks
it's probably just me but I just in general dislike the idea of needing to force a handicap on yourself when playing a game
i really feel like I should be using all possible tools at my advantage to win, not restricting myself to try and make something fun
that's just me though.
Because the oldfags who grew up with the series were old enough to realize how ridiculous how ALL of them were and couldn't reconcile their nostalgia and new data.
I love all the numbered entries and Revelations. this includes 6. Come at me bro.
its improved the mechanics, but 6 shows you cant live with just that. its how the game designs itself around those mechanics and 5 (while nowhere near as bad as 6 does) still does it worse than what 4 did. 5's encounter designs tend to be less inspired, level designs more limited with unique setups far too few and in between on top of flat out copying 4's at several points. 4's island section also takes a nose dive in quality, but its still nowhere near what 5 pulls with its shitty cover system and literally every other enemy having a machine gun,
>mfw I hear them scream
Not having infinite ammo is far from being a handicap.
Infinite ammo is quite literally the cheat mode of any RE.
