I've read the love. I've read the hate. What is undeniable is that after 30 years of gaming and finding new, open worlds....... This is a utopia. My ADD has backed off because since doing everything is impossible, it forces you to just enjoy yourself and be 'one' with the game. I've just never seen anything this ambitious actually work; even planet entry effects help to remind me that every planet is a size that made xenoblade x seem puny. Plus: no one really knows the extent of what can be done, where you can eventually go, how cool the ships can actually get.......... There is simply too much content to make judgments and give scores. Sure, some things are odd like NPC interaction and the seemingly crazy decision to make nearly every planet capable of supportig life...... But who gices a crap? If you do, then look at the bigger picture. This game is the start of an evolving project that couldn't have really worked out much better from the beginning. If it is supported and adjusted, the possibilities are endless. Furthermore, now that someone's gone and shown us that it is POSSIBLE to render these worlds with nearly infinite scope: gaming will never, ever be the same.
NOTE: I usually use ps4, but recently got a nice alienware with a gtx 1080. Running it in 4K, all beat settings except for AA, not having any hiccups, and not a single crash that didn't recover in my 20 hrs of play.
Sorry to those of you who have performance issues or those who simply can't understand why this is a masterpiece in it's own original genre. If you can't find yourself awed by it (despite the flaws that always exist in every product), may I suggest a joint and a xanax, an episode of star trek, and a dark room with a 60" 4K screen. You won't want to leave.
The damn purpose of the title is the experience. Period. I'm in for the long haul. This title defines 'immersion' and haters are simply lacking the quality that makes a true gamer: imagination. Screw the damn details. Enjoy it and wait for growth.

More reddit copy pasta? /vr/ here. Game's fun enough for 30 hours. I enjoyed it. Doesn't redeem it's many flaws and false marketing however.
Camden Cruz
The fundamental promise of no mans sky was fulfilled. Most of what people are complaining about is relatively minor details, like how silly the animals look or not being able to see each other.
I don't get the hype train crash really. If you liked the idea of it before, you would like the final product.
Colton Nguyen
Well, I'm often a type who needs to chill out and let the stress out. It was meant more as a joke but not specifically. One will not appreciate any game of this sort unless they are relaxed and that's my method. Journey, bastion, ori, tearaway, transistor, and hell, even ecco the dolphin are all similar examples. Joint or not, they still don't come close to touching the concept of a universe that is entirely open to you.... Which isn't a concept anymore. Now it's reality in gaming.
Regarding lunacy: that's not me. I actually gave this game a pass and had a friend forcibly push me into it. The results are what warranted the comment. If you don't like it, that's due to preference. The gameplay is what it is... For now. Shallow isn't a correct description however. If you choose to play in a shallow way then cool. I'm just seeing people all over the web complain that this isn't 'their thing.' No problem. Fighting games aren't my thing.
And I also must comment on the 'second coming' remark haha. I agree in a sense. However, we live in an industry where people capitalize on other's ideas. This title proved that a nearly infinite, well designed (though procedurally generated) 3D universe is possible in gaming now.... Making favorites of mine like witcher and elder scrolls seem limited. When someone finally incorporates the gameplay that others miss, this will have been the template. It was done. It will get bigger, give more reasons to go on.
No one really knows the extent of the game's content other than heresay anyway, so who knows. A week ago, people dodn't know what the 'paths' were. When all is said and done, the payoff might be more than anyone can guess after updates. As for the second coming: for me, that would be the entire 09/2016-12/2017 jrpg release schedule ;-).
It is a Trekkie's dream come true for sure and when a better title comes along, the memories of this will remain. So many 'great' titles and their stories have faded from me. This won't.
Austin Thomas
>My ADD has backed off because since doing everything is impossible I'd say it takes about 3 hours to do everything in the game
Carter Peterson
So is that a long way of saying, "Yes the combat's shit, but I'm going to wait for it to get better"?
Jackson Baker
I hate this new world where being a faggot is aok. Fuck off OP, it's a stupid little indie video game. And the dev is a lying laughing cunt while the game is mediocre.
William Garcia
>writing more than one sentence about a video game
Brandon Wood
For me, handling countless upgrades, doing barrel rolls through mountains, following the 'concept of god' through star systems isn't shallow. No more so than the typical grindfest that i've accustomed myself to. Do you know what's at the end of the Atlas path? Not sure anyone does. Perhaps I should have chosen a different word such as 'natural or free-flowing.' Remember that 'Journey' game that involved walking up a hill for 2 hours, not having any meaningful decisions or gameplay mechanics other than looking pretty and portraying a feel?....... Just to throw you back to the start? That was shallow..... And I loved it. It was also game of the year ;-). I fail to see how this title offers any less magic.
Beauty in simplicity. If they make it more goal oriented, cool. If not, cool. No worries. I'm quite capable of stating disappointment if I feel it, which I don't. Plus, I expected nothing. Like I said, I discovered the game on launch day. How can I defend hype that I wasn't privy too? This was based on results.
I was playing kingdom hearts prior, lol.
Lucas Williams
>but recently got a nice alienware
Yeah this pretty much screams you are just baiting us. Drop the Alienware thing in the future and the bait will be superior
Gabriel Baker
I love how every topic becomes a disagreement when either negativity OR positivity is shared. The one-liners don't bother me. Debate is what makes projects like this more successful. As for paid dlc, I wouldn't mind if it happened that way. Sales were great.... And will continue to be. More money will be put into it now as a result. It's fair.... Besides, on steam, the price was less than &20.
NOTE 3: (and LOL back at the alienware thing. I'm a pc dummy who loves gaming notebooks but hadn't gotten one in 8 years. When I saw alienware's graphics amplifier for $200 that lets you use any graphics card as a primary and still uses the laptop internals.... I was sold. This game is an absolute treat in 4K.........)
Zachary Stewart
Jesus christ, OP. You sound like you are actually retarded by the way you write.
Ur so deep man woah bro dude. Kys, dumbass lol
Josiah Davis
A joint and xanax? If you are really trying to get enjoyment out of this turd it takes one or more of two things: LSD or Ketamine. Preferrably both. Experience true immersion.
Bentley Barnes
NOTE 2: Safer drugs (less deteimental than alcohol) will of course increase immersion lol, especially for those with high IQs. I believe the 'smoke n play' psn community is one of the largest original groups. Plus, certain green plants have anti-proto-oncogenic effects. Fast food, air quality in asia, and the election are bigger health concerns.
Andrew Long
So you pirated it, right?
Jace Powell
I agree but just assumed that's natural with large games especially if it's still technically programming itself haha.
Anthony Torres
He was being directed like a hound by Sony from the start. How can you not see that? This game was produced to sell off its hype.
Owen Jackson
>post yfw OP is legitimately retarded
Logan Reed
This guy's pouring his gaming heart out, and all you have is snappy one-liners. This might be the internet, but you are all still human - how about a little tact, a few manners? You weren't raised by forums and FAQS. OP, I love this game for what it is and especially what it tries to do - it gets out of your way. It's far from perfect of course but I can definately appreciate the doors that this project will open. The general reactions to what NMS is and what it is not demonstrate why it was an indie concept - no big developer would gamble so much. Personally, subjectively, I would have paid more for the games high concept but it's clearly not for everyone. In years to come a lot of games will be compared to NMS, games that would not have existed otherwise.

I am enjoying NMS. I guess I should say that I never heard of NMS until it was released for the PC last week. I read its description on Steam and it sounded like something I would enjoy so I bought it. I certainly do enjoy it a lot. Maybe that's because I wasn't filled with some kind of expectation. I didn't know anything about the hype surrounding this game. I honestly never heard or read anything about NMS. I don't own a console. I am strictly a PC gamer.
By the way, my PC is old but it gets the job done. I am playing on a Dell 630i (Core2Dup CPU) with 8 gigs of RAM, and a Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850 video card with 1 gig of RAM. I am playing at 720p with all settings at lowest and I am getting around 25-30 FPS. Very playable.
By the way, if NMS for the PC ever gets a modding community like Minecraft or Kerbal Space Program, we could be looking at one of the alltime great games.

I don't get it. Is there something wrong with Alienware? Is making fun of Alienware a thing on Sup Forums?
I just bought an Alienware Aurora desktop 11 days ago. The thing is a beast. It has an i7-6700, 16 GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition with 8GB GDDR5X, and an 850 watt PSU. Is there something wrong with an Alienware that I am unaware of?
James Martin
I can understand your disappreciation of my drug comments. To each his own. However, if it offended you that much, then maybe you should chill as well? The point was that I recommend everyone giving it a chance to be as it should be. Be relaxed. Isolate yourself....... In whatever way works for you. If people tried that and left feeling empty, or just aren't sci fi people, then to each his own.
No point of mine has been undermined and the vast majority of haters really do: 'don't get it.' As with worthy praise, worthy criticisms should come from those with the actual understanding of the product they're criticising. I won't tell my wife that her facemask is crap because ive never used one and don't understand the benefit.
I stand by what I said. If an action-oriented gamer who isn't used to this style smokes a joint and gets into a different zone, the experience opens one's eyes to new possibilities and things that they may not have liked before. Said individual will undoubtedly continue to pique that curiosity when sober, or just simply not be interested. Worth a try in my opinion.
It was meant as a joking-fun encouragement and if people on here desire to take everything so seriously because it is taboo, then feel free. No worries. Just also consider that most people in this world consider a 'shower' to be pleasant as well but everyone does so under different conditions. If all showers were meant to be ice cold, some people would hate them.
If someone says: 'hey. Make it warmer. You'll understand why it's so good' then boom, new perspectives are formed. This topic was created to express genuine happiness and to share it with those who haven't played as well as those who have. I'm not a flamer on here and I never get attacked either. People say: 'you said this sentence so you sound like an immature gamer' and then respond with a damn 'resume' because I have an intelligent rebuke.
Wyatt Morgan
Alienwares are generally overpriced for what they offer because they thrive on brand recognition. They're meant to scalp people who heard that "Man Alienware is so good, I gotta get one" because you can get better parts for less money.
Ethan Ross
this is some shitty bait still funny tho
Christopher Garcia

Funny considering you still posted. If a bait were truly shitty people wouldn't feel the need to call it out as bait.

If people want to get worked up then I'll just keep laughing at it like any real gamer does ;-). It's gonna remain that way unless I need further examples to explain why what I said was 'silly,' which is perfectly acceptable as well as intended.
Talk about the game, not me. Gonna sleep now. If people want to talk about negative things that aren't the point, then just archive the board and start one called 'that dude's an idiot.' Lol. It was quite fun to have my first insults thrown at me on here in years though! Keeps me sharp.

They cater to idiots who don't know anything about computers and have money to burn.
Their PCs are terrible and insanely overpriced. The cases in particular tend to be prone to overheating.
You could get a much better PC for a lot less money by just building it yourself. More importantly, you'd actually get some basic computer knowledge by doing this, allowing you to diagnose problems and replace parts later on.
Kayden Perry

Are you serious guys? If you expected this to be drug free than maybe this game isn't for you. NMS was never about being drug free, idk where people got this from. Maybe you should lower your expectations, because for me this is exactly what I wanted.
Alexander King
Journey did it better and that game was linear as fuck and had no combat.
Well how much did it cost? This is the same system(actually it's better since it probably has a better case/PSU/mobo/GPU/HDD/SSD) pcpartpicker.com/list/WWxqpb

Hell, Grow Home was a more enjoyable and varied experience than NMS. It did very well so I assume the lack of discussion is just Sup Forums being stupid.

I was thinking about that as I typed it. Maybe impressive isn't the right word, but I at least appreciate they even implemented it when the rest of the game is barren.
Julian Rodriguez
I wish I didn't start googling every OP... it feels like I'm stuck in a bot forum.

For someone who is not interested you sure have been staying here a long time.
Sebastian White
Is that all?
Andrew Smith
There are two reasons to do this. 1) To bypass people's filters just to annoy them, like the OP did. 2) To make sure the people who play the game are people who are genuinely interested in it.
Furthermore, in this case I'm not sure many people would seriously believe the game is named Grow Up. They might assume they're being made fun of.
This site is better because there are not one, but TWO entire NMS boards where people post walls of text about how the game is totally good guys you have to believe me.
