What would improve the experience of No Man's Sky in your opinion?
What would improve the experience of No Man's Sky in your opinion?
something to do
Procedurally generated waifus. Think along the lines of Tracer's ass, Widowmaker's Face, and Roadhog's belly.
Killing myself
Not making it procedurally generated.
I'm not trolling, the greatest sense of discovery in games came from stuff that was handcrafted and was built understanding how our brains recognize and react to visual stimuli.
The devs for this turd decided to be pretentious snowflakes and disregard all that for their own gratification. There was no vision for the game, only a vision for the status their ambition would give them.
I'm all about breaking conventions to better define your vision, but when you do it for it's own sake you end up with shallow garbage like No Man's Sky.
but "TRILLIONS AND TRILLIONS OF PLANETS" was this games entire gimmick.
Ctrl-c ctrl-v the entirety of Elite Dangerous into it.
It would still be bad but less bad.
building an empire of autonomous mining robots and slowly amassing an enormous galactic empire. Space colonialism, basically.
An addition of all the content they promised and advertised.
That's not possible though with a 15 man team making a 3D space game
It not being a ps4 port with shitty resolution would be a start.
Obviously.
They should have stayed home or made a different game.
who actually bought into the hype for this game? i knew immediately it would be a piece of shit and lose it's charm after 2 hours of gameplay. i played spore
i really like the base of this game, it really needs to improve on what it has and add more to do. the art style and music are fuckig great, but the trading, combat, inventory management, and procedural generation all need to be improved.
i honestly would like it more if they took the survival parts out of the game and made it more about the focus, exploration
A $30 or less price tag. It's an interesting concept but never meant to entertain on the level of a big budget game.
Sean said they'll later add base building and owning freighters... but he didn't say PILOT a freighter ship... which means we'll technically own one but probably never step foot in one. How disappointing is that? Imagine being able to pilot your own massive starship similar to Star Trek, being able to walk around the deck and all throughout the corridors, upgrading different divisions into a biolab or an armory.
It hurts to see this game probably never living up to its true potential. Thanks Sean :^/
Improve ship controls
Let ships fly at ground level at the risk of crashing
Allow those freighters the devs are gonna let people pilot store smaller player ships
Put in a craftable land-based vehicle for traversing planets
With better ship controls up the space combat a little
More creature pieces to increase creature variety
First post, best post. It needed an actual objective.
better planet generation
>takes over 20 systems to find a decent looking planet
also give infinite storage
They need to add black holes, quasars and supernovas.
It definitely was a poor decision to lock away more interesting planetary generation behind the warp drives. People who miss out on them are gonna find the game even more boring
A new enemy type. Something similar to the Borg, or maybe the Zerg or Flood from Halo. Imagine some planets infected by them.
This. No matter how much of a NMS lover you are, most people agree the game should not have been 60 bucks.
where the fuck do i find the anti matter for the warp drive?
Game's exactly what was expected of a procedurally generated single player exploration game. Patches will fix performance issues.
Dev is still a lying faggot.
you buy it or craft it
>craft it
how
>buy it
the milestone marker sent me to some space station but they didn't sell it there for some reason
Make that melee jetpack glitch a legitimate suit upgrade, traversing planets it so boring otherwise
And redo the entire inventory system, goddamn that shit is garbage
>how
just follow the shit on the low right side on the screen
the game will lead you to it
>Game's exactly what was expected of a procedurally generated single player exploration game.
except it isn't and it wasn't marketed as such
hell it still doesn't even load for some people
So how do you make good money?
I've not been able to upgrade my ship for ages, as I get closer to the center the difficulty and load on my inventory increases but my income doesn't.
Mining gold is tedious.
make and sell bypass chips
>Make something you are able to do into something you are able to do
??
A Game
that looks like shit though
I want assurance Hello Games won't patch the game to "fix" the glitch without giving something back to replace it
sadly its the best you can get in this game
the other planets look worse
They could have proceduarlly generated like 3000 planets with the same algorithm and then gone over them with a fine-tooth comb, adding details.
I'll never get to the 5mill+ required for a good spaceship by selling like 20 bypass chips at a time.
This is one of those games where I'd use a trainer if one was available because the only barrier to units is the time you're willing to waste.
you can also dupe atlas stones and sell them
combat
>make different weapons
>like missiles, electrical discharges, mines that you place around the battlefield, hacking to disrupt an opponents weapon/shields/engines
>make pulse jumping a thing but take like 500% longer so its atleast an option
building ships rather than trading for them
>YOU can NOW build the MEGA FREIGHTERS!
>Finally something to spend all the cash on!
>equip them with anti ship weapons
>somewhere to dump extra cargo/do extra trade
More alien races besides the 4
>enough said
>no, actually not, give them personality. If you join one faction another hates you and will try to actively destroy you if you enter a system they control
>that being said you can now conquer systems from one alien to another
Multiplayer!
>groups of individuals try to steal/wreck your shit
>blow up your freighters and take your goodies
>thus the never ending building up the defensive capabilities of said starships
a goal!
heres an idea for the goal!
>whoever reaches the center of the universe can choose to extinguish all other faction players
>aka- the game ENDS! THE END! thanks for playing and enjoying this superb experience!
Make ships and their weapons customizable, add space pirate encounters with more than 4 ships, dedicated pvp planets (fighting from orbit), different ayy races and factions have different ships and tactics in space.
more guidance into building warp reactors
wasted hours getting the theta only to find out I put it in the wrong place and now can't move it. ffs how retarded, and even if I did, I couldn't use it because I didn't build the sigma and tau, and there's NOTHING in the game that tells you to
other than that, the crashing is terrible, and I want to be able to scan planets from space for most prevalent elements before landing
More creative planets, like a planet where the atmosphere is too thick for natural light to go far and the animals have a modifier to make them appear more like deep-sea creatures, a desert planet like what we saw in trailers, villages and large ruined cities, shit you could expect to see in Starbound.
Ship customization, even if it's as small as just painting and naming your ship. Being able to look around your cockpit, being able to walk around the inside of bigger ships, allow ships to enter water and submerge, don't auto-eject the player after landing, add more HUD elements to the cockpit, and make aiming where you land easier.
Take some cues from Elite Dangerous. Base planets and their conditions around stars. Allow the player to join factions, have faction-only equipment and ships, give the player a model, have different exosuits available to the player, see your feet when you look down, give the player the effect of wearing a helmet when they're in no-atmosphere.
Add base building and bookmarking for locations and planets. Diversify the landscape with more than two colors, have the planet set multiple ranges for hues on three sets of colors for different things such as plants, animals, land, and minerals. Have these hues range from certain points and gradient.
Make more logical designs with planets. Only 30% of the planets the player steps on should have sentinels at all, less of that should have buildings and ruins. Polish the alien body generator a little bit better. Have ships work differently on planet and in space based on their size and shape with bigger ships being slower on planets and fighter-shaped ships moving quicker.
Build the economy more. Allow the player to take a pet from a planet and keep them in the cockpit/room for larger ships.
Add space stations full of aliens and bazaars and abandoned ones full of fungus shit and enemies in space. Add actual civilization on some planets.
Having these would justify the price tag.
>the scene with the sand snake
I would give these assholes the benefit of the doubt of fixing a lot of the issues with the game but the fact that that was just a planned pre-rendered scene makes me fucking rage.
This And the ability to build permanent structures/bases on planets.
And multiplayer.
Let us have full control of the flying. I want to fly close to the planets surface.
What you outlined would be a fucking awesome space game. That's exactly why they did the opposite sadly though. More work then they want to do. Plus anyone that believes there horseshit of "working day and night" to fix the game. Fuck them. They got there money. They don't take this shit serious at all.
Add something so that you can actually make things. Right now you can't craft anything. All you make are stat upgrades to items you bought off something else.
You start the game with a spaceship, an exosuit, and a space laser gun. You end the game with 48 slot spaceship, 48 slot exosuit, and a 24 slot space laser gun. Your character doesn't advance because of your actions , he advances because you find someone else's shit that gives you a completely abstracted inventory slot upgrade.
Multi player, actual missions and modding support.
Pretty much this. I want to see player made factions, more predatory animals on planets to fight, ground combat missions and player made cities.
Sean has some nice feet.
1. Multiplayer in a persistent 3 faction war that takes place everywhere with players and npcs.
2. Ability to create a custom fleet of freighters, ai mercenaries and even space stations, forts, player cities. Players would make there own platoon in a faction and could conquer planets and establish defenses, ai soldiers on controlled planets.
3. Add more variables to make animals, plants and outposts on planets more different from each other. It would help with immersion. Couldn't hurt to have more sound clips for animal noises as well.
Thats all I got. Really NMS should take cues from Minecraft and Eve like it already does to an extent. The modding community could really make this game great. Cheers.
So, the game pisses me off.
There are three additions that would make me overlook all of the nitpicking and shitty half truths and spin the devs put out on this.
1. Just put fucking multiplayer in. Just give people the ability to join their friends game, I know its not the super special snowflake shit that you wanted where you are the sole person, but the game is a fucking wasteland, having a friend to fuck around with would make it more fun.
2.
Galaxy map, system map, Planet map, Give us a small galaxy map for the system we're in, Lets us see the sun, the planets, What ones we've explored, It'd just be nice, and would help for my next bit
3.
New alien race, It's an Infectious race that spreads, It slowly creeps across a planet mutating and infecting lifeforms, spreading a biomass kind of like tyrianid or Starcraft, It doesn't spread so well on some planets, Think extreme temperatures. But adapts well.
Has a gestation period when it infects things. Different animals, are affected by it differently depending on their behavior, Like agressive ones will actively hunt other animals or the player to try and infect.
We'll make the human a special snowflake and immune to it, just for ease sake.
But now you can Cleanse and burn entire planets while trying to stop the spread of this infectious alien virus.
Build decontamination machines at whereever there is a save point and it will keep that area clear. So you can slowly regain back the system, gaining favour with whatever race is owns the planet.
Alien NPC's are also attempting to combat the virus on planets and fight it back.
Mutated plants and animals keep their general look but get a few things common with the infection thrown in there so they're still random.
Means some populations of animals can become extinct.
have your Friends join in and work together to push back the infection on a planet.
Or abandon a system and race to the next one hoping to avoid or outrun the infection,
Oh, so you know what their motivations were? What's it like being telepathic?
It was a small 10-15 man team that was very honest from the jump that the game was going to be about scope, if you bought it expecting anything else then that's on you.
Whenever you warp into a solar system it should be controlled by several different races. Constant ship to ship battles constant fps ground battles. Pick a race to be friends with and fight by there side. If you don't feel like it, run off and mine and explore like you already do.
Add giant freighters and player made fleets to add the pvp element. Each faction would have different buffs. Sentinels would have a tangible spawning station thats easy to deploy, Vykeen get a melee buff or a shields buff. Korvax get better range combat and a engine buff then the Gek could get better mining buffs and a lower price at markets or something.
It would be fun to fight along side a bunch of Vykeen in the ground or space. Game definitely could use a character creator and third person for immersion.
FOV adjustable up to 200. Maybe 250.
Mouse acceleration support
RAW cursor data support
Something to limit render distance
Smoothing the transition between the "pre-rendered" low quality landscape that fades in when the world loads, sometimes little cubes that i assumed are alien relics end up being a rock that's low poly
Also, it's really cool that the nms development team is making threads like this to hear the root of their customers concerns. Thanks guys!
Unlocked ship controls
Base building
Better storage, fuck limited inventory management
The ability to store live creatures/plants on your ship and release them somewhere else
Multiplayer
I want to build a goddamn space zoo.
Make it so you can join a huge faction army. Custom carriers that serve as mobile bases. If you like a planet you can put bases and cities on it and "transwarp" back at any given time.
Other players and factions can take territories over so you could lose your home planet if someone attacked it and you lost your defense outposts or freighters etc.
Having big ships and npc soldiers to spend money on would be nice especially once you have a decent ship, gun and suit.
If it were me I'd use all the money to improve the game to the point I wanted.
If you don't respect your work as an art and profession then you're a bad worker and your product will always be bad. Make a product you want and people will want it too.
Well if they stayed home and made a different it might not have made them enough profit like this one did to develop as a studio and possibly make something better. Looks like they're taking advantage of a gimmick (Meme in Sup Forums) to earn big bucks. How were we ever gonna stop them?
Not that I want them to succeed because their leader is either a shallow nu-male liar or an inept nitwit who knows fuck all about PR.
1. Automatically upload planet names and let people rename them later. Right now discoveries have to be manually uploaded and most people don't know that.
2. Speed up day night cycle. They slowed it down because playtesters got confused by planet rotation.
3. Multiplayer
4. Building
6. Remove the name filter. I can't name my planets with Roman numerals because XXX is filtered.
I want multiplayer corporate style. You pick a faction and join up with a huge armada of ships. You can do missions like mine, take over outposts or defend space stations or freighters from enemies for the company/faction.
A galaxy map would be great. I'd love to be able to portal back to planets I put bases on.
I'd like another race to shake things up. I'd also like to see the existing races more out and about outside of sitting in a building. I'd love a mission fighting predators with the Gek or hunting down a huge herbivore with the Vykeen as a quest.
This game badly needs a character creator and third person. Seems like standard stuff in any sandbox game at this point.
Some planets having atleast sone level of civilisation. Some one nomadic tribes, some iron age, some industrial and various levels space age. The whole discovering new civilisations and interacting with them woyld have been great. Also multiplayer.
FIX THE SHIT ASS FOV
I like all of these ideas.
I think they should make this game something where you have to choose a side and are constantly trying to expand territory and defend against other factions. That way you have an army/bases to spend money on and gives you a reason to explore and mine when you're not fighting on a mission.
Love to see the player characters too. They'd have to if they want this to be multiplayer.
Are you serious guys? If you expected this to have FOV than maybe this game isn't for you. NMS was never about FOV, idk where people got this from. Maybe you should lower your expectations, because for me this is exactly what I wanted.
I think all that it needs is more security bot skins.
...
Speaking of races, more races. Heck, limit the main three to systems near atlas paths, and further out start procedurally generating races.
>the ability to build permanent structures/bases on planets.
This is all I wanted.
Here we go.
Giant predators that actively try to kill you and other animals on planets with life.
Ability to make bases and cities on planets. Ability to make space stations and freighters in space. More storage for your resources and ability to insta-warp back to "conquered" locations.
Faction war. Picking a side gives you certain buffs and benefits. Factions are always fighting for control of a solar system. You can mine, soldier or build defenses for whatever faction you choose.
More variety in planets weather, flora and fauna. Add more pieces to the mix so existing animals look better and move more smoothly in their environments.
Make planets and moons rotate around the sun which is a huge object. If you fly to close to the sun you burn up. Planets and moons are further away from eachother (not by alot but not right on top of eachother like they are now) add more variety for space stations and freighters as well.
pls no meme
Are you serious guys? If you expected this to not have memes than maybe this game isn't for you. NMS was never about not having memes, idk where people got this from. Maybe you should lower your expectations, because for me this is exactly the meme I wanted.
They are adding two patches. One this week and one next week. The first one is too fix the biggest problems (glitches and crashes) the one next week is to add content apparently however Hello Games hasn't said much about what that content is yet. Either way these patches are desperately needed because the game is buggy as fuck and theres not enough to do once you get a decent ship.
Well probably make it less like mine craft in the begining. Maybe give you choices when joining a faction you could get a starship with a crew and actually be space pirates.
DELETE THIIS
Hey Sean.
Just want some modding tools, multiplayer and abit more variety with flora, fauna, outposts and space stations. Thanks.
nothing. this game is an unsalvageable piece of shit. it represents the absolute worst things the gaming industry can use against you to make you buy shit games. Anyone that bought this game and feels cheats deserves their fate. I wouldn't be at all surprised if 5 years from now we all find out this was an elaborate social experiment on the effects if hype and vague promises.
What is the sentinels...
HISSSSSS
Make the ability to make on planet bases and ships. All i ever really wanted out of the game
I agree the base of the game is good. I don't really want to take away features as much as add them.
They should add multiplayer and the ability to make cities and bases. More faction war type stuff.
Taking away survival would hurt the game. If anything it should be harder to survive on certain planets ie crazier weather, more aggressive predators etc.
>nothing. this game
I stopped reading your post. You should learn to write so people can take you seriously.
Are you serious guys? If you expected this to have modding tools, multiplayer and abit more variety with flora, fauna, outposts and space stations than maybe this game isn't for you. NMS was never about modding tools, multiplayer and abit more variety with flora, fauna, outposts and space stations, idk where people got this from. Maybe you should lower your expectations, because for me this is exactly what I wanted.
i just want the truth sean, then i'll be happy with your space game
More variety in outposts, space stations, animals and planets.
Add multiplayer.
Add modding support.
That's pretty much it.
>Ability to make bases and cities on planets. Ability to make space stations and freighters in space. More storage for your resources and ability to insta-warp back to "conquered" locations.
Faction war. Picking a side gives you certain buffs and benefits. Factions are always fighting for control of a solar system. You can mine, soldier or build defenses for whatever faction you choose.
i like your idea up will they are always fighting for a system; this could be misconstrued as theres always a mix of factions in each solar system. It never REALLY gets conquered
i want all out war.
Youd have your miners/explorers- building up the economy/resources
Youd have your builders- building space stations, freighters, weapons, spaceships
Then youd have the armies of each faction who would assault enemy solar systems; raiding them for resources, trying to conquer planets, destroy the enemy bases/cities/space stations/forces
>Make planets and moons rotate around the sun which is a huge object. If you fly to close to the sun you burn up
i will one up you here
Make each faction susceptible to some type of environmental damage more than others. So that the demarcation of forces/factions around the galaxies is clearer
A solar system has regular electromagetic storms? not so good for the Korvax; they can still do it but its a much more safe area for something like the Vykreen to inhabit
A solar system mainly consists of planets a little too far from the sun so they are all snowbound? not so good for the Gek since they could be cold blooded for talkings sake but the korvax wouldnt mind it cause they are electronic beings
SOOOO many ways this game couldve gone
Mhm. You're trying too hard to act indifferent to the criticisms of your precious little failure.
>They could have proceduarlly generated like 3000 planets with the same algorithm and then gone over them with a fine-tooth comb, adding details.
Why so many? They just needed to model one good solar system with some habitable moons, a planet in the goldilocks zone, and some terraformed worlds, asteroid mining bases and colonies, and space stations.
If the planets and moons were really the size of planets and moons it would be more than enough content.
Of course, they would have had to get a better algorithm before they could do the fine details. Their current algorithm is shit and just generates Perlin noise, instead of actual continents with rivers systems, and oceans separating them.
>It needed an actual objective.
Not even. Just something to do. Sandboxes have no objective, but you can do something in them.
a good system for combat
better animations for combat
a dodge system for combat
a political system between factions
more interesting procedural generation (floating mountain islands, the sky is an ocean and the core is a chunk of mass, etc)
Ability to hire companies
ability to build outposts or cities
actual multiplayer
>for their own gratification
What are you even talking about? This was their vision and it's what they wanted to set out to make.
crashing this plane...
WITH NO SURVIVORS
Being able to fully control your ship on a planet
Installing drills on your ship for mining
Being able to build something
Actually I think I'm gonna go back to Space Engineers lads
I think it'd be fine with a 20 or maybe 30 bucks price tag
Here. Such simple and logical things. Its fucking amazing how it doesnt have these.
