I'd like another XD, in as far as the goal, isn't tied to the pokemon league.

Make it about being a pokemon ranger, and not just having to clear obstructions or calm stampedes, or fight Team NoIin. But having to preserve populations if it somehow becomes popular to over-catch certain pokemon.

Make it about running a Pokemon Daycare and needing to constantly bring back food and goods to pamper pokemon so they develop better.

Make it about being a homeless man haunted by a Legenday Ghost that catches up with him every 12 hours, and persues him slowly oon the map so he can't just double back. But he has to stop to sleep and eat, shopping, trading, gambling, visiting Pokecenters all take time, and gives it a chance to catch up with you. The only way to win is to progressively grind to the point you can defeat the pokemon.

How about we just make 1 game right now that includes every single region and every single Pokemon.

When starting your journey, you get to choose which region you start in. You must clear that region first before being able to journey to a new region.

Focus more on well designed battle mechanics and actual difficult. Add some encounters balanced to fuck you up. Do something like FOEs in etrian odyssey where you have to avoid certain powerful pokemon in an area, only to return later if you want to capture them. The pokemon audience is older now and many yearn for a challenge. No more bs gimicks like megas or syncho or whatever,

1. Completely change the battle system, stats, and training. It's been the same rock paper scissors garbage since gen 1 with zero changes to the metagame.

2. Change the narrative around so you're not some dumb kid trying to get merit badges to be a champion. Make an objective/scenario that is actually more engaging than go to a town --> fight the gym --> go to the next town --> fight the gym --> rinse an repeat.

3. Stop making new pokemon that do nothing but bloat the roster of playable characters. Instead, add more options to customize what we already have. Alohan forms are a good example of this since you can pick what form suits you better.

4. Grow the game up a little bit. Pokemon fans are older now, and they still want to play. It's embarrassing to have to hide your power level when a new game comes out. Stuff like dating elements, actual threats to the character's safety, and accountability for your actions can add more depth to an otherwise monotonous world.

5. Stop the fucking colored versions already. We get it, you like jew gold. However, there is online trading now, so it's not like you're forced to meet up with someone and use your link cable to "catch 'em all". Besides, there's STILL no incentive to actually fill out your pokedex after all these years.
