What is fun is that local coop are dying in consoles. Splitscreen is thing of the past.
In pc tho they are still thriving because of indie devs that capitalize in the people that still play local games, like me.
You just need an hdmi cable and controllers and you can have a grand time.

i get the competitive stuff but hell i need time to unwind

Nothing has ever prevented me from just plugging my TV into my graphics card and hooking up multiple controllers to play with people locally. I do this regularly.

Controller Companion app and a 15m hdmi cable did it for me. Dont even need to move the computer from its place and I can controle everything from my seat without a mouse.
Now I can enjoy playing with my friends until we finish college and separate forever
