If you're up to learning it, Dwarf Fortress is essentially the pinnacle of this genre. It's free and above all it has the most content and replayability out of any games like it.

Oh yeah. Tried it a while back and ran headfirst into that learning curve. Ended up getting too tired to figure it out, let alone get all the community enhancement mods. Also tried out KeeperRL, but that thing was buggy as shit so I quit

it's good. Lots of mods even though I've been playing vanilla only first.
The only gripe i have with this game is it'll rng the fuck outta you with bad events and you either save scum or youre literally fucked.

I watched Robbaz play it and the game kept fucking him by having the people he saved just slaughter all of his animals
He had to keep sending them(some with good skills) out into the wild to die

I don't support Early Access. Period.

just keep save fagging. if it keeps happening then it's a hard event and you need to deal with it. just try to have all of your colonists survive and modify shit in the save file after if you must. (I did this with plague because LMAO HEALING BEDS? NOPE 3 OF YOUR 7 INFECTED COLONISTS STILL DIE SORRY NOTHING U CAN DO)

Yeah, some of the directors are fucking retarded, and throw stuff at you that's completely unfair.

I had one chuck one of those alien ship fragments that kill everything around them slowly within the first hour or so of a new colony, right next to where I'd set up base, then get one of the events that make all your people go insane not that long after.

It's definitely something they need to work on, because you can't run a big enough colony for casualties to not be a pretty big deal most of the time.

I love RW but still, I'm only playing as base builder with the nicest narrator.

I play it as a chill game.

I like the fact that you can play casu or hard.

I don't feel good about this game anymore.

I installed some mods that let me have some hauling, cleaning, gardening robots. As well as the MOBILE AI which replace the average pawn, but can be hard to build.

What happened is on the way to this self-sustaining fortress, I was raided and/or lost all of my people to various diseases. There have been people who come to re-settle the mountain fortress. At the times I had cannibal people, the freezer was always stocked with human meat.

Eventually, AI took off and I replaced all the people (who kept dying) with robots that were easier to replace, and better at things

So eventually raiders showed up, and in order to make money I keep a fairly large prison of organics that I harvest organs from. The robots don't care.

My friends have informed me I have re-created "I have no mouth and I must scream."

Only early access game that I have is Rust and I just got it for 4$ + other games on the last HB.

Game works fine and it's fun, needs polish and more content. But playing 20-50$ for alphas that barely work with no way of knowing if the game will ever get finished it's a stupid thing to do.

You can make rooms but leave the doors open, lets prisoners roam outside.

He's keeping a single fucking primitive man trapped in a meat locker full of human flesh he is expected to eat that at one point included family. Plus the dude said he keeps injuring him to the point where he won't die but he can barely move. Which means his body has to slowly try to heal all the fractures and sprains on its own.

This user has shown us the torment he can inflict on one man. God only knows what he would do with several prisoners.

For that matter, it's interesting you emphasized that the prisoner is some primitive. Does he even understand why he is being tortured?

Put the butcher table in the prisoner ward. Make it so the meat isn't stored anywhere. Make that butcher table only used for humans.

Incest has a pretty low chance to occur unless you specifically set it in the Prepare carefully settings.

It's irritating that games like Rimworld sell so well despite being pretty much just watered down versions of Dwarf Fortress with some crappy 2D graphics slapped on. I mean, out of the rest of the crappy clones Rimworld is one of the best, but it's still just a crappy clone.

And I know some people can't get into Dwarf Fortress and could have more fun with Rimworld so it'd be a better game for them, but it's still some bullshit that games with no actual creative merit can sell so well.

This is my last successful base. Idea was to sell as many prisoners as I could before leaving. Ended up selling 93 prisoners. Wasn't easy feeding everyone with only 2 people.
