Even I could do better.
Kinda predictable like the other shorts
Really good. Probably my favorite.
I like birds a lot.
Ganymede makes me smile.
PTSD-ROBO PLS GO
Best part was Reinhardt. In the other shorts we get an idea of why they fight. No clue why Bastion is a willing combatant here
Whole character just seems like a big rip off inspiration from the robot in Castle in the Sky.
Seeing the fire strike animated was really great and it definitely feels cooler to use now. Plus the short is also making me want to upgrade for the overgrown bastion skin.
You can literally see similarities in everything if you try hard enough.
Wasn't Reinhardt, it was rein's mentor and leader of the Crusaders (the bois in big armor with hammers) Baldrich. The knight behind fire striking Baldrich might not be Reinhardt either since he didn't have the spikes on his helmet. The short takes place outside a town near the German castle that will be the new hybrid map where the Crusader Knights made their final stand against the omnics.
Overwatch building lore now
Baldrich's gold armour is going to be a new Reinhardt legendary skin though.
it's basically a carbon copy of the robot scene in castle in the sky
Overwatch general?
Overwatch general.
>tfw no one else picks healer and you have to do it every time or else you automatically run the risk of losing
Awesome game.
Boy, they're still ripping off Warhammer 40k to this day, huh?
spoonfeed me, which 40k character is bastion ripping off?
>similarities
It's literally the same thing. Robot of mass destruction all friendly and covered in greenery. Similarity my ass.
I honestly think this one was the best one to date.
At least 4 other things came on my head before WH40k
Seriously, fuck off to /tg/.
I'm more talking about the flashback scene. The human side heavily evoke the Imperium. Hell, they even have Titans and a Space Marine analogue in the form of the Crusaders.
thats a long walk for such a small drink of water m80
Like all of the other trailers: pretty to look at, nicely animated, without a single ounce of originality or interesting content.
>Blizzard made a better Warhammer than Warhammer ever did and we still mad and bitter about that
Evolve you fucking losers.
Thats a cute bird
This one is better :

When I was a child, my sister and I shared a room where my father's bookcase was. He was an avid science fiction reader and had more or less the complete works of Isaac Asimov. One of the first things I picked up and read after learning to read was his copy of "I, Robot", which if you're only familiar with the strange Will Smith movie it was originally a collection of short stories with the common theme of robot identity and human misunderstanding of it. In these short stories was one called "Robbie" about a large clunky and mute early robot that was given to a young girl as a nursemaid and later separated from her by an overprotective mother who fears that Robbie may be dangerous. This is the first instance in my memory of ever seeing the "gentle and misunderstood robot" cliche and it and the rest of Asimov's work had quite an impact on me. Coincidentally, my mother is Japanese and very much adored the Miyazaki movies which were fairly new when I was a child. The first movie I was ever shown was My Neighbor Totoro. Miyazaki also had this common theme of robots having potential for danger but being largely misunderstood or more accurately misused by their instructors. Most notably in Laputa, Castle in the Sky.
My father used to operate a video store back in the days of VHS and he got a promotional display for The Iron Giant which came with a poseable figure. Those quickly became one of my favorite movies and toys, if you can imagine why.
So naturally I adore anything with clunky or warlike robots that when left to their own devices are gentle or passive by nature.
So I thought this short was awesome despite being cliche by now.
Here's a drawing of mine from the year 2000.
I like birds
cute drawing
...
Y-you too.
>BAWW PDST ROBERT COP
>sympathizing with refugees invading Europe
Into the trash this thinly allegorical animation goes!
It's incredibly rote, but exactly my fetish so it's the best.
>sympathizing with refugees invading Europe
What the hell are you talking about?
You right wing conspiracy nuts are triggered by even more false flags than the SJW are.
Just swap patriarchy with islam an you're basically the same pack of nuts.
not gonna lie
i cried like a little bitch
mostly because those flashbacks reminded me of my dad when he would have Vietnam flashback
and that bird reminding me of myself as a kid trying to play with him like everything was normal
I liked the real visceral minigun fire when he mowed down those trees.
too bad he's a shitty 1-dimensional hero in game
your dad should be on trial in den hague for warcrimes.
you get no sympathy from me.
dont cut your self on that edge
and the entire plot to The Iron Giant apparently
>it aint me starts playing
...
>every single soldier is personally responsible for actions committed by others, in a time where you had no choice if you were sent out or not
Did he turn into a machine gun?
no, but he would occasionally freak out and beat me with a jumper cable
Don't give me feels now user, saturday is hedonism day.
Are you fucking kidding? They look nothing alike. They're both old robots who don't talk. That's all.
i lost my shit user thank you.
The Laputa robot was also overgrown and depicted (not in this image) has having a number of wild animals hanging around and on it. The image here also shows off a similar way of interacting with the world and people: a very visual, curious, and nature oriented sort of depiction. It's been awhile, but I think the Laputa robots were also engines of war and one encountered is the sole remaining unit that's taken to communing with nature by the time it shows up.
This doesn't mean Bastion is a rip off. Bastion is much more obviously industrial while the Laputa robot is much more like a magical golem. The Laputa robots are also lightyears ahead of the rest of the settings weapons, one robot obliterating everything in it's path. The Bastion units are much more on par with the other powers of their setting. Related to those two points, Bastion is a very familiar, bullet focused weapon, while the Laputa robot has laser explosions. Narratively, Bastion is also distinct from the much more secondary and less self focused role of the Laputa robot (though this is mostly from it's short video, as it's one of a very large cast in a not story focused game).
Bastion just, like a lot of the other characters, takes very obvious visual cues or themes from well known depictions or pop culture stereotypes.
They are conceptually extremely similar. Overgrown, a robot who connected with nature, was a former warmachine.
Everyone I know who's seen Lauta made the same connection.
