Why is he in North America?

Gothic sucks.

Ur mom sucks

Slap him back and hope he's still level 1.

Never played it.

Convince me to install it on steam

Sorry user but no one here plays Gothic. I don't even know what game or genre it is.

It's shit, don't even bother. Easy as fuck and boring as shit. If you want to play a Gothic game, play Gothic 2: Night Of The Raven (specifically with the NoTR expack installed, not pure vanilla), since it's the only actually good and challenging game in the franchise.

Great and unique RPG

Best atmosphere in any game I've played by far

Steam Version of 1 and 2 are not working to well. Both Games are really good.

How can I increase Gothic 2's draw distance without installing the DX11 mod?
My computer is a toaster so it runs like shit

Shit UI

THE RIGHT DECISION

Ask him for his name.

Why would you make him avoid one of the best RPGs of all time? Gothic 1 is great, when it's too easy even better, why would I bother playing Gothic 2 without playing Gothic 1? I would miss a big part of the story. (Also if you're german, polish or russian there are some great mods available for it)

Why did nobody bother to take the combat system from the first two Gothic games and update it to modern standards?

It would be fucking amazing.

...

Bethesda is one of the secondary reasons why Gothic 3 sucks, by the by.

lass uns Wildschweine jagen gehen

But he does have a name.

What the fuck is even going on in this thread? Aren't Americans still asleep?

I'm about 40 to 50 hours in
Should I just end myself?

his name is not important

Nah, no need to end yourself over a shit game. Why not just drop it?

I'm in too deep
send help

Just kill everyone.

The legendary gothic 3 Bug Video from gamestar.

I miss Christian Schmidt ;_;

Come on, why do you even go on? You want to see the ending? Just rush the main quest. You can finish it in like 2 hours anyway.

I love how the guy decided to do this in the Jesus Christ robe.

Gothic 1 and 2 are the absolute peak of RPG gaming. Gothic 3 sucked balls, but it's actually a playable game with the community patch and still has that Gothic feeling.

>Forsaken gods... lol
>Arcania... fuck off
>Waiting for ELEX
>I WANT TO BELIEVE.JPG

This is a thing of beauty, but it's disappointing that he didn't show the Fire Chalice one. It's by far my favorite bug in the entire game simply for ruining all the emotional impact of finishing the most tedious fetch quest in the entire game.

>ELEX content gets downvoted with people calling it a Fallout 4 knockoff

You forgot Risen.
>Risen 1 Great RPG
>Risen 2 Shit
>Risen 3 Want to play it, but saw a lot of shit from 2 still in game.

Let's hope ELEX is good, but if engine is the same than it will be a flop.
And Pirahna Bytes cannot have more flops.

risen 3 is alright, except for the mandatory ship battles, what annoying shit, i played on hard and had to set the difficulty to easycheesy for those

What faction do you support in games/joined.

Gothic 1 :
>First play Old Camp
>Second play New Camp
Love them Equaly, but Old cam a little better.
Gothic 2:
>Militia/Paladins definetly
Gothic 3:
>Hashashins, i love the desset cities and look, but rebels are cool to.

G1 =Old Camp -> New Camp

G2 = Milicia -> Paladin

G3 =I played every way

R1 = Mage / Inquisition 50/50

R2 = Hurr

R3 = Magic/Risen buddies

What do you know, I actually had a save file there.

For reference, then.

Will Bethesdacucks ever learn that commitment to one side means immersion. Bethesdacucks blunders compare to Gothic:

>Scaling lol
>Can literally be highest rank in any guild/faction
>Mostly "procedural" generated Dagerfall level of exploring, while Gothic has a handcrafted world that is actually worth exploring.
>Lifeless NPCs, in Gothic the NPCs recognize you, rob you, cheat you, fuck you over, notice what faction/armor you are wearing...
>Anything I ever did in an ES game never felt like a true achievement, compare that to the feeling when you get accepted into the Paladins in Gothic 2.
>"Friend" NPCs that follow you in the story and that actually matter in a way that is not "hur dur you have broken the prophecy"
>???
>Not being Bethesda here is your horse armor DLC = instant win for Gothic

It's just that i had trouble getting immersed into any faction.

>Hashashins
Now humans suddenly follow Beliar? I thought only very very few humans even get a taste of his magic
>Rebels
Yeah. I really feel like joining the faction who put me into prison.
''I knew you will come savior'' - Go fuck yourself King Rhobar - How do you even get to be the chosen of Innos?

Have you seen anyone sleep in Gothic 3? It's not a pretty sight.

>when the Zyklon B hits hard

its works perfectly fine you arent a retard

>wake me up inside

What is your favourite place in games?

Gothic 1: Old camp
Gothic 2: Monastery
Gothic 3:Ishtar
Risen 1: City
Risen 2:?!?!? cant remember single place to be honest... Maybe the first city harbor where you get to chose to either use voodo or muskets.

Gothic 1: Swamp camp
Gothic 2: Besieged Castle/ First trip to Valley of Mines pass
Gothic 3: Nordmar is pretty cozy
Forsaken Gods: Let me forget...
Risen 1: Don't remember shit...

I'll bite I guess.
>Can literally be highest rank in any guild/faction
Not true in Morrowind
>Mostly "procedural" generated Dagerfall level of exploring, while Gothic has a handcrafted world that is actually worth exploring.
Not true in Morrowind
>Lifeless NPCs, in Gothic the NPCs recognize you, rob you, cheat you, fuck you over, notice what faction/armor you are wearing...
Not true in Oblivion or Skyrim.
>Anything I ever did in an ES game never felt like a true achievement, compare that to the feeling when you get accepted into the Paladins in Gothic 2.
Okay then.
>"Friend" NPCs that follow you in the story and that actually matter in a way that is not "hur dur you have broken the prophecy"
I don't know what you mean.
>Not being Bethesda here is your horse armor DLC = instant win for Gothic
TES games have great expansions, Gothic games predate the popularization of DLCs.

>''I knew you will come savior''
This reminds me, they really should have used this track in Vengard.
youtube.com/watch?v=PTc8Ck5iy4o

Fucking badass. My Latinfu is kinda weak, and I'm not sure I deciphered correctly what they are singing, and if I'm understanding it correctly then the Latin in the lyrics is kinda botched. But have a translation that should be more or less what they were shooting for with it.

He without name will deliver you from slavery.
He without name will restore to you the art of magic.
Gather at Vengard, sole remaining free place on the world.
You have arrived, oh Guardian of the Temples.

Kind of weird that all four lines are addressed at different people. First to the slaves, second to the mages/paladins, third to both, while the final line is a greeting directly addressed to the Nameless Hero.

Still, it's fucking nice. It shows the fanatic messiah cult the people of Vengard developed around NH much better than anything in the game.

Newsflash: Casual gamers are retarded

Who would've thought

How would you know? All the previous games don't expand on the Hashishin at all, you just know they exist because of that guy on Khorinis that sells dank weed.
It's not suddenly, they've been here for a long time, you just didn't see them because they're not part of your kingdom.

Not really. Vatras tells you that there are only a very small number of humans who follow Beliar.

Then in 3 it turns out Beliar cultists rule the homeland of Vatras and he is suddenly all
>liberate my people, Nameless Hero, KILL 'EM ALL

Perhaps he meant in the kingdom.

>Can literally be highest rank in any guild/faction
Not true in Morrowind

It was ages ago, but isn't it true that you do the same thing you can do in any later ES games, that means. Fighters guild, Mages guild, Thieves guild, Imperial legion... also Morrowind is the only OK ES game for me, so I was mostly talking about the later ones.

>Mostly "procedural" generated Dagerfall level of exploring, while Gothic has a handcrafted world that is actually worth exploring.
Not true in Morrowind

I'll give you this one, although Morrowind can't compare to Gothic when it comes to the "depth" of the world, that every corner offers something. How many useless Kvama (?) mines are there in Morrowind?

>Lifeless NPCs, in Gothic the NPCs recognize you, rob you, cheat you, fuck you over, notice what faction/armor you are wearing...
Not true in Oblivion or Skyrim.

Let me ask you one question. Can you ever be forbidden to enter a town if you wear a certain faction armor in Skyrim or Oblivion? It happens in Gothic. Can a random NPC stop you and call you, Legionary or whatever? No, but in Gothic NPCs recognize you as a Paladin, Mercenary, Mage... I'm aware that the games are not of similar concept, but still that's a factor of immersion that is always missing in ES games.

>"Friend" NPCs that follow you in the story and that actually matter in a way that is not "hur dur you have broken the prophecy"
I don't know what you mean.

I was basically talking how you have a line of NPCs that are actually your friends in the Gothic games, and that nothing similar happens in TES.

>Not being Bethesda here is your horse armor DLC = instant win for Gothic
TES games have great expansions, Gothic games predate the popularization of DLCs.

True. Elex won't have DLCs?

Prepare for the new TES game, let me give you the most likely scenario
>Shallow Fallout 4 dialogue system/RPG mechanic
>DLC fest.

>It was ages ago, [...]

You can join the Imperial guilds at the same time since they're not enemies, the Fighter's guild and Thieves guild are at odds and unless you cheat it you can't advance in both.
The Dunmer Houses are completely locked once you join one.
The only odd combination is Imperial Cult + Temple.

Yeah Gothic games do it far better, but NPC behaviour is still there.

>I was basically talking [...]
Perhaps Martin in Oblivion but no, plot in Gothic is far more character-driven.

>True. Elex won't have DLCs?
Let's hope it doesn't, and that they learned from Risen 2/3 mistakes.

>Prepare for the new TES game, let me give you the most likely scenario
They actually recognized the mistake of Fallout 4 dialogue system and there's a rumour that they've been hiring writers, but it still looks bleak, the whole saga has been on a steady decline.

Agreed. Thanks for the Morrowind input, I didn't really remember too much of the Morrowind mechanics to be honest. Elex won't have DLCs if the devs haven't lied. They said it in an interview on Gamescon. Don't have the link, basically 30min dev interview (German)

No, I don't think so. You ask him about the gods specifically, not their followers. Beasts are the domain of Beliar, but he has some, but not many human followers. And most of them are pretty much mindcontrolled.

The Fire Magician version of the same issue was that the entire reason why the Innos-Beliar war started was that Innos made humans his followers and they all shat on Beliar.

The human/beast thing is actually even indirectly addressed in Gothic 3 by introducing the second mage faction of Adanos. Water Magicians represents the humans, while Druids represent the beast. Innos - humans, Beliar - beasts. Not Innos -humans, Beliar - humans, and some beasts too I guess.

Which is why it's such a retarded retcon that humans are actually the chosen people of Beliar as well. It doesn't make a lick of sense to have an entire continent full of Beliar worshiper humans.

But it's not stated that the Hashishin are the "chosen people" of Beliar.
When you read the stuff that gives you ancient knowledge in G3, it specifically tells you how Innos gave his flame to the Eternal Wanderer so he certainly favoured humanity, but Beliar doesn't favour anyone, it just said how his realm is darkness and was mad at Innos so he created spooky stuff.

Now, we know that Beliar can favour humans as well, it seems he just wants powerful humans because that's an affront to Innos (taking away his natural followers), so what I understood was that the only ones that are "chosen" by Beliar are Zurben and his Black Mages, he doesn't give the least amount of fucks about the Hashishin as a whole, they just worship him out of a culture the Black Mages have created so they're naturally at odds with the kingdom of Rhobar.
They're not "chosen ones", but an instrument to wage war on Innos, in fact, when you do the Beliar end, he tells you to murder Zurben because he's become useless, implying that he doesn't care at all about his followers as long as he can fuck Innos shit up.

how did Gothic 2 age

like a fine wine

I have tried to play Gothic 3.
So many fucking times. More than 10 runs I just end up stopping around the desert or even before that.
The gameplay just feels so fucking broken and Alternative Balancing from the CP only makes it WORSE.
It was CLEARLY designed around 1v1 human battles, yet I fucking don't get why must 99% of the battles be against hordes and hordes of unblockable wildlife or orc and human gangbangs.
The Alternative Balancing is pure shit, everyone gangbangs on you, there is a low stat cap after which it takes twice the LP to increase your attributes, getting good gear is almost impossible and leads to the hilarity that is a shit mercenary having end game gear despite it taking you like 100k gold and massive reputation to get, the magic is totally broken to the point the main missile spells are the ONLY usable spells in the game save for summons, it's like the game itself forgets a lot of battles are you versus I fucking kid not 30+ orcs at once (and yeah there are actually battles like that in game)
It's amazing how Risen 3 is the only polished PB game to date, I get now that they finally managed it at least ELEX won't suck too much

Also, please explain how the FUCK does one melee in Gothic 3?
Like I said every battle is a gangbang of high as fuck damage orcs or stunlocking wildlife, I sincerely have no idea how to even do shit that's not arena battles without the polearms spin to win move

>hordes and hordes of unblockable wildlife or orc and human gangbangs.
You're not supposed to start liberating cities or assaulting rebel camps until you have serious AoE magic or you're 1hitting them.

That doesn't change the fact all other battles in the game are against packs of at least 3-4 wildlife at once like Snappers, Skeletons, Zombies, Boars, Wolves (which usually come in even bigger packs), Minecrawlers and shit, all of which deal decent/heavy damage, can sidestep, some can even block
And with the retarded 250 stat cap before it costs you twice the LP in Alternative Balancing I don't see how you could even get good at one point to liberate the cities when even a good orc weapons takes like 350 STR to use and the damage is still not enough to one shot mid tier mercenaries

G2 = G1 (best atmosphere in the series though, G2 was not even close) > Risen 1 (the best successor G1 and 2 could ever hope for, would be GOAT if not for the shitty forced story and bland factions) > Gothic 3 (a broken mess but I somehow enjoyed it)
Haven't played neither Risen 2 nor Risen 3, are they worth it at all? I remember trying out R2 and immediately turning it off because of how atrocious my first battle felt, and it says a lot considering I went through the fucking Gothic 1 combat with no issues

It goes both ways, neither Innos nor Beliar give even the tiniest amount of fuck about their followers. It's not like humans follow Innos because he is such a nice guy. Innos dominates his followers, while Beliar ensnares them with promises of power. The only one who cares about what happens to the world is Adanos.

I don't really disagree with what you said though. But it speaks volumes that the Beliar path has you ally with humans, not with the orcs which should have been the obvious way to handle this. And really, the problem is that even if it can be somewhat explained, it is rather unbelievable. The mages that lead a rebellion and kept hiding in fucking holes in the desert for hundreds of years somehow got contacted to help with the Barrier when there were more than enough Fire Magicians in the realm to do it? Vatras decides to just hang out in Khorinis for 20 years when everyone thought the Barrier would stay up forever? When the Barrier falls do the Water Magicians head home immediately to help their people? Oh no, they fucking don't. They take a vacation in Jharkendar because apparently rebuilding a ruin is more important than the Nomad-Hashashin war. Nah, it's bullshit. The only way this would work is if the Hashashin invasion was something very recent like the end of the orc conquest, but it is not.

>he tells you to murder Zurben because he's become useless, implying that he doesn't care at all about his followers as long as he can fuck Innos shit up
Fun fact, Innos is perfectly happy with you killing Rhobar too. So happy that he even makes you his chosen king right there. The only difference is that Innos is willing to wait out Rhobar's natural death should you pussy out of murdering him.

You shouldn't really play with Alternative Balancing anyway.
It's pretty much a failure, they wanted to make humanlike enemies more dangerous than wildlife and failed spectacularly at that, and it increases the LP costs of everything without accounting that G3 has far more shit to get than G2, it's a NotR-wannabe.

Risen 3 is very worth it.
I can say without a doubt it's the only PB game with actual fun combat where you don't feel like there is an invisible force limiting your character just for the sake of added difficulty
Risen 2 gameplay is shit unless you use muskets, thankfully you can grab a gun even in the first location of the game

Bad combat system or worst combat system?

Yeah I'm thinking of making a run without LP and see if I can FINALLY finish it.
> it increases the LP costs of everything without accounting that G3 has far more shit to get than G2, it's a NotR-wannabe.
So much fucking this
The large scales battles of Gothic 3 are NOWHERE near Gothic 2. In Gothic 3 you have more than 30 fucks going at you at once, it actually makes sense PB made it easier to become more powerful

Same way you do in Gothic 1-2, you make sure you always fight one on one until you are so overpowered you can tank everything.

>Risen 2
Depends, do you want to play bad sanboxy rpg with pirate theme?
Combat is clunky, and i hated that inventory system. Story is hmm... continuation of Risen 1 of course, but why in this direction? Risen 1 had pirate side quest. Now whole game is about traveling ocean from islan to island(no even seeing ship traveling) and completing quests. And ending was not to climaxic
>Risen 3
Can't say much... i tried to play it, but it keept same engine, inventory system and graphics of 2. I did not want to endure another Risen 2.
But they atleast tries to make it more medievaly.

>Fun fact, Innos is perfectly happy with you killing Rhobar too. So happy that he even makes you his chosen king right there. The only difference is that Innos is willing to wait out Rhobar's natural death should you pussy out of murdering him.
I've never done the Innos ending, I thought of this since the game was clearly aiming for a "both gods are assholes" but I never expected them to be this blatant about it.

Risen 3 combat is vastly improved over Risen 2 user
Dodgeroll with i-frames and faster attacks that actually stunlock foes if you chain them properly for example

Well it turns out I have both R2 and 3 on my account with all of the DLC for some reason. I honestly don't remember buying it but hey!

It was retardedly easy though.

Really, i still have it instaled, it's just... That pirate intro, that avereage main menu music.... Arcania had better menu music and that pretty much says how will music feel.
But i may give it a try.

Gothic 3 and subtlety are incompatible, but yeah it surprised me too. Although the game was going for an "all gods are assholes" thing, not just "both".

>serve Beliar
>he burns your face off

wew

I don't know Adanos seemed pretty chill in general, but perhaps I've forgotten something.

Apparently. Don't you remember fighting the cursed undead Water Magicians in the ruins?

He wants orcs to live.
Orcs are literal niggers in the Gothic universe

But undead belong to the realm of Beliar.

Does he? Neither of his factions want Orcs to live. You don't have to kill them in the Adanos ending, but that's because it's Xardas giving you the instructions, and Xardas doesn't care one way or another.

That was until they pulled a Warcraft and portrayed them as noble savages with a flourishing culture in G3.

Watch your mouth, Morra

Yes, but it was Adanos that put the curse on them for sealing themselves away in the temples instead of drowning in the flood like they were meant to do.

Except they are literal niggers that want to enslave humans in G3?

I will after my demon gangbangs you

Damn.
Gothic, Nehrim, Enderal, what is it with krauts and fedora tipping?

Well it only makes sense gods would be fuckers
Think about it, if anything you would at least view your creations with some form of contempt or inherently think of them as inferior
It would take a super benevolent god to act otherwise

The bow is your friend mate. Far from that that the fucking stunlock and shit is working as intended, but you could easily get destroyed in G1 or 2 if you were not careful for a second either. I remember that my uberpaladin from G2 could almost immediately get killed if he takes a full combo from an elite orc, so, there you go. Wildlife is meant to be unpredictable, so, unblockable, kiting with your bow and taking enemies 1vs1 is the only way to do it if you are no mage.

THe bow does such shitty damage in Gothic 3 though
I feel like 100% of the time I'm just spamming the spear/halberd spin to win because it has good range, hits multiple foes in an arc and does it multiple times while also knocking them back a little
Just like if I play mage it's me spamming Fireball/Ice Lance/Lightning Bolt forever due to how aoe spells take ages to cast

Nehrim and Enderal got made by a Gothic fanboy.

>my demon gangbangs you
?

I can only wonder at what level would you even be able to take that battle with melee

Non-mage characters got shafted pretty hard in Gothic 3.
The fact that the trainers that give you all you need to learn magic are available since level 1 not only makes pure mages viable, but retardedly strong.

I don't know, but if it works like magic it probably doesn't even matter.

See, while I'm not sure about the exact mechanics, damage reduction is somehow percentage based. For example it doesn't make a single difference if I have 250 or 800 AK, a saber tiger will always be left with about 10% of its health after I hit it. Only crits take them down in a single hit, essentially making leveling AK after a point completely useless.

I can only imagine it's the same with STR and melee.

I trust we can agree that Alternative Balancing is literally no fun allowed at least?

I don't think that's the case.
I don't know about Gothic 3, but all Gothic games always have melee damage scaling with strength, while spell damage always remained static, no matter how much you pump whatever mage stat you have.
It seems like a deliberate design choice.

Hell if I know, I played without Alternative Balancing, although I did have Alternative AI.

From what I understand AB actually changed this full retard damage reduction thing.

Just learn how to master a sword - grab a decent 2H and spin like a helicopter.
