This could have been a good Survival Horror spinoff about a lone marine exploring a planet, where even two or three Pirates can be a huge threat and you have to play cautiously or die in a few hits

Not gonna lie, that also sounds kind of shit.
Going for a survival horror approach isn't a good move for Metroid. The SA-X was tolerable as a one-off gimmick, if the games were solely orientated around that shit it'd be awful.
That would be dumb.
I played for a bit yesterday, Federation Force really isn't as bad as people make it out to be.
Though the mission with the balls takes forever when you have 3 retards all shooting charge shots directly into the ball making it fly everywhere when you need to shoot it on the bottom to pop it up over the steps.
>gameplay is shit
>music is shit
>no exploration at all
>no sense of isolation
>linear as fuck levels
>dimensions are fucked up
>shits all over the lore
>now the federation soldiers play soccer in space with mechs
>bosses are bullet sponges
>no scanning
This game makes Other M/MPH look like masterpieces.
>>dimensions are fucked up
>>shits all over the lore
I've only played 2 missions before getting bored, what do you mean by the dimensions & how is the lore fucked up?
>It proves to be the kind of strategic shooter not seen from Nintendo before. Its designers enter such uncharted territory with aplomb, and the resulting game is one of the most pleasant surprises of the season.
>9.5/10 - Metroid Prime: Federation Force is not only the best FPS on the 3DS, but perhaps one of my favorite FPS games ever.
>9/10 - Federation Force is, without a doubt, one of my favorite 3DS games of all time
>8/10 - Metroid Prime: Federation Force is a very impressive, polished and playable package
>8/10 - a perfectly serviceable mutliplayer mech adventure
>7/10 - Federation Force will easily surprise you with its quality. It's nowhere near the all time greats, but it can deliver some enjoyable moments, and will definitely entertain for some time
>7/10 - The flaws of Metroid Prime: Federation Force become almost irrelevant if you play with friends, the missions are varied enough and offer some unexpected twists.
>7/10 - Metroid Prime: Federation Force is overall a good game, fans of FPS’s will likely enjoy not only the experimentation the game has to offer, but also the fun you will find with friends.
>7/10 - fun game that is actually quite enjoyable once you stop thinking about what it isn’t, and enjoy it with some friends online.
Get jelly niggers, missing out on an awesome game.
>other M is bad meme
He hasn't played it so he wouldn't know, just parroting what he's read loosely. The game sets up dor Metroid Prime 4 pretty well in terms of lore.
Not him but in the first stage everything has your size, computers, boxes, doors, everything. If you could leave the mech, everything would be fucking huge, and just the level alone would feel like a soccer field (walking on it without a mech)
I also expect that to happen in the rest of the stages.
About the lore I don't know, I haven't played the game that much but he probably refers to the soldiers being tiny and such
It's not good either if that's what your implying, it's a shitty Metroid game without a shadow of a doubt and at it's best it's a mediocre action game.

HMMM
Using Federation troopers to make a more horror based Metroid spinnoff would have been an amazing idea since for once you wouldn't be playing as the absolute unkillable juggernaut that is Samus. The SA-X could be replaced by Space Pirates and actually have multiple of them at once this time around while you're exploring for upgrades to help your survivability.
So basically Metroid Fusion in 3D with an open map instead of Fusion's more linear approach.
...and Kotaku and Godisageek and others...
NintendoEnthusiast gave it a 4.5
Kotaku gave it a good score? Now I HAVE to buy this game!
That would be a great spin-off. FF is just an example of how you do NOT make a spin-off game.
The point was that from mainstream, niche and nintendo featured there are plenty of good reviews for the game.
>strategic shooter
lol
>lol
Elaborate.
And for every good review, there's two bad reviews.
If you want to blindside yourself and pretend that only the good reviews exist or that they're the only ones that matter, that's your discretion.
He means he laughed
>there's two bad reviews
>metacritic
>13 >= 7/10
>16 Critics
I see.
Maths wasn't your strong point was it?
And for every bad review, there's two good reviews.

I'm not picking sides here & you 2 just got me curious but ouch, that user score.
>most were posted before launch
I wonder who posted that...
>user scores
>metacritic
Do you use vgchartz?
This. Federation Force is a great game. All the bad reviews from critics and users are just sonyggers trying to bring NIntendo down again.
71 is garbage, there's no sides to pick.
Imagine how cool this game would have been if the mech aspect wasn't treated like an afterthought.
Think of all the things that make mech games cool: the sense of scale, battle damage, meaningful customization.
Federation Force doesn't have any of that and it's a shame because it would have provided a great contrast to playing as Samus.
A mech game set in the Metroid universe is a really sick idea and I hate that Nintendo managed to turn it into cartoon astronauts rolling balls around.
>sonyggers
Close.
Federation Force is literally DmC. A shitty game that rapes the fanbase at the same time.
>thinks 3 is twice the size as 13
>there are no sides
You're not too bright.
It's especially garbage once you exclude all the reviews that come from sources with Nintendo in their names.
>Sup Forums will never have comfy AM2R threads again
7 good, 8 mixed (though I don't know why a score of 56 is still mixed despite the review summary absolutely trashing the game), 1 negative.
9 mixed and negative reviews, to 7 good.
No. No it doesn't.
In fact the lowest score is from Nintendo Enthusiast.
We got like a solid week of Metroid threads being about something other than bitching about the new games or circlejerking over Prime and it was wonderful.
No, I barely ever look at reviews in general nowa days, I just got curious since the user mentioned the site.
It's also worse than Other M, which is honestly surprising to me.
>9 mixed and negative reviews, to 7 good.
You mean 15 good and mixed and 1 negative.
This is what I wish a Federation Trooper spin-off looked like.
Pretend that robot in the middle is Kraid or something.
>Bad reviews
Like IGN's 'I can't figure out the controls." Or Nintendo Enthusiast's 'It sucks because it's not a real Metroid game!"
The positive reviews come off as much more genuine.
That looks nothing like Metroid though...
Sure. A 'mixed' review score of 55, 59 definitely belong to the good category. Federation Force is a damn good game.

>Federation Force is absolutely a Metroid Prime game. It incorporates fresh ideas and presents them in unique ways, but it never forgets where it comes from. The co-op online shooter genre is a bold new venture for Nintendo, and one they’ve taken to with surprising aptitude.
Yeah, definitely a genuine review.
Neither does FF
>Sure
I'm glad you realize the error of your fanboyish ways.
>Federation Force is literally DmC
Are Metroid fans literally the worst fanbase?
I think so.
>le shit games r good meme
Go fuck yourself.
And they say Nintendo fans aren't rabid drones.
They lied.
No, I think most people have been won over by Feds at this point.Especially because it hints at Prime 4.
The whiners are just a vocal minority.
>other m is bad meme
Ok.
Literally every fanbase has rabid drones.
Reminder this is the average Other M hater:
youtu.be
reminder that fire emblem actually gets good games but the fanbase still bitches about it because of "memes" and "censorship"
>it never forgets where it comes from
yeah it's called Metroid, at least they didn't forget the name even though they fucked up everything else
You're right, but Metroid fans still seem to edge ahead.
Maybe because they're more vocal and shitpost everywhere
Is that the Dementium guy?
some random dude on twitter that bill trinnen retweeted
Yes he is. He is shilling the game all over his feed
John Romero, leave this place!
This. It's literally the best time to be a FE fan in the west right now, but the fanbase and its constant bitching is insuferable.
>this is how I get attention
Grow up.
>"hater"
Why even bother posting?
Looks nothing like John Romero.
>pretending Other M is bad is how you get attention
I know. Just stop.
>up is down and black is white
Being a contrarian wears thin after you're done with puberty, look forward to that.
But there are plenty of people blindly hate on Other M.
You can't even elaborate on why it's a good game. You can't because it isn't. Everything from the design to the story is extremely underwhelming and screams of carelessness. Aside from a couple of good boss fights, the game is a terrible addition to the series.
>You can't even elaborate on why it's a good game
What? What the fuck are you on about?
Am I only the only who just simply finds it both inoffensive & mediocre? Like a 5 maybe 6/10 and nothing even worth talking about?
No, I mean it's just a game without anything special really.
I think you have trouble following a conversation.
No I don't.
IT IS LITERALLY RAPING SAMUS
IT IS THE DMC OF METROID
IT IS THE 911 OF METROID
PLEASE DONATE TO DOCTORM64 NOW
>all this shilling
And this is why gamergate happens. Any professional reviews are bogus these days
It's basically nothing.
The trouble is that it could have been a worthwhile new entry to Metroid after people were pissed off with Other M. Hence all the salt.
It doesn't help that Nintendo DMCA'd the Metroid II fan remake that people actually liked. Really poor timing.
>any positive opinion of a game is shilling
No.
>It doesn't help that Nintendo DMCA'd the Metroid II fan remake that people actually liked
I went to their site yesterday, clicked on the first post and downloaded the game.
Did they just DMCA individual download links, because they did a bad job then.
They can't touch the creator, so they try to go after anyone hosting the game instead.
It's explained in the second most recent post on the front page. Literally just below the one you clicked on.
It was a DMCA, not a C&D. Only the original links are gone.
