I fucking hated Hellsing so much that when I finished it, I felt compelled to play something that actually encompassed the gothic vampirism I came for, and FINALLY played Symphony of the Night.
Hellsing is comprised of a lot of great moments, but every character is a very bland cliche besides Alucard and Alexander Anderson.
The moment in the series that got me hyped as fuck was when Alucard unleashed his army of the dead.
I hoped to hell that the series would pick up from there but it didn't commit and just killed of Anderson instead.
No disrepect to those who like the series, but I have NEVER seen a gothic vampire show and when I thought I found it I was greeted by something as cheesy as Nazi Vampires.

Honestly, I liked the brief section of undercover schenanegans Seras got up to in the non-canon parts of the original TV anime.
The idea that the Hellsing organisation did MI5/6 type shit dealing with the supernatural was really cool and made a nice contrast with the balls-to-the-wall gore and action.
A game based around that would be nifty.
I feel like this would just be something that would be overlooked for the sake of having an actual game. It doesn't need to be a straight up 1:1 copy. Hell even then you can explain it some other ways, such as, you're in a rush so you can't waste time regenerating, or there's some objective that would be lost during regeneration time.

During the series finale (when he's Vlad III with the sword) it's implied he's let his other souls loose - Meaning that if Anderson had actually managed to kill him during that fight, he'd be dead. However, by the time Anderson uses the nail of Helena, Alucard's back to his "fake form" with many lives - as Anderson didn't want a real fight and instead opted for a fight between monstrosities
More proof of the multiple souls theory (which afaik is never directly stated) is the fact that the way Alucard manages to return from absorbing Schrodinger's soul decades after the battle is precisely by killing off all of his other souls, one by one - Until there was no longer existential confusion and he could manifest himself again as he used to

It was - What I meant is that it's never directly stated that the only reason he can keep regenerating is by expending absorbed souls. It is heavily alluded to though
