Anyone else looking forward to playing Dead Rising 4 now that it's going to be more generic and palatable to the masses by removing the time limit?
At last we can experience the content at our own pace and exhaust ourselves on the sandbox in three hours so we never want to play the game again. Finally we won't be obligated to level up quickly so we stand a good chance against the bosses. We won't have to learn our way around the map as we're being pushed forward either.
>"Frank West is back!" >doesn't look, sound, or act like Frank
Fuck off cunts
Austin Hill
I'll definitely buy it but i'm sure i'll get dissapointed, it's looking worse and worse each time they reveal new stuff about this game.
Jack Mitchell
>No timer >Regenerating health >Overpowered exosuit right at the begining of the game >Reaching Saints Row 3 levels of "wacky" humor
Fuck anyone that defends this
Jaxon Murphy
You should just buy the remaster of one, it's a great game
Isaac Ross
Capcom really don't get what made DR so good
They said it was "too japanese" but that quirkiness is what made the game so good. The more they've tried to pander to the west the less fun the games have been
Joshua Lopez
Already played the first one, i'll get both.
Josiah Gonzalez
Right now they're trying to appeal to people that hated Dead Rising by taking out things people liked about Drad Rising
This game is gonna sell like shit
Jacob Allen
Shame, I thought the time limit was a stroke of genius in the games since they found a way of adding narrative pacing to a sandbox.
Colton Collins
All the games are coming to PS4 next month. Dont care about 4.
Tyler Green
after the third one, I don't see how anyone can expect something good out of this
Hunter Ross
I liked the third one.
Asher Miller
I only care about the Dead Rising 1 PC port. They've only gotten worse with each successive title imo.
Ryder Sanchez
If you can't handle a simple time limit in a game that also has a sandbox mode then you're terrible at games. This who le at your own pace crap is for faggot who are simply bad at games.
Isaac James
Thanks to timed exclusives, I have to wait an enitire year to get it on PS4.
Liam Allen
No, its for people that wanna take their time with a game and have fun instead of being rushed and pressured to beat it asap.
Aiden Ross
They give you plenty of time to dick around. Plus if you don't want to have a time limit then do sandbox mode
Jonathan Mitchell
But the game isn't enjoyable to just fuck around in for hours, since that's not how they designed it
Zombies stop being fun to kill mercilessly very quickly. They exist as an obstacle for the challenge of beating the clock, not as a challenge themselves
James Reed
No you didn't.
Juan Rogers
Ho shit, Micheal's in Dead Rising 4?
Andrew Fisher
Okay, but what you have to understand is that challenge isn't something that's suitable in triple-A videogame sequels in 2016. I'm sure Capcom have done their market research and they understand they're losing potential sales by having a time limit.
Yes I did. I'm replaying it currently and I still like it.
Xavier Cox
Looks like they designed this one around no-clock and pure fun.
Cooper Thompson
Capcom is willing to lose their current playerbase to potentially attract a different playerbase? Are they retarded?
Bentley Clark
For anyone who played Off the Record, it becomes evident how easily the game falls apart without any pressure. Challenges are locked behind zombie kill counts, and the numbers set are just enough to make it seem way more of a grind than if you were to play the game normally.
It seems lazy, though. Instead of introducing an option like in Dead Rising 3 or elaborating on the freedom from doing the story option, they outright remove the feature and claim the best for business strategy, even though most of the people who buy it are probably not going to stick to the game long after.
Parker White
Capcom will not lose their current playerbase, you're overestimating how many people play Dead Rising because of the time limit.
Nathan Young
No, they turned my favourite character into a meme spouting retard. I hate the casualization but I could stomach them if Frank was actually back. Maybe I'll buy it when it drops to $20.
Charles Allen
I'm current playerbase, and I like no-clock. Its about time they did it.
Jeremiah Diaz
>At last we can experience the content at our own pace Fuck that, only retards and casuls ever complained about time limits in this series. The game is set in a zombie infestation, not a theme park.
Ryan Bell
imho the multiplayer introduced in DR2 took out all the stress. It was fun, but transformed zombies into something less scary, much more controllable. Running through the casino alone made me shit my pants, but with a friend around you could even take a leak while he was guarding you. not bad per se, but they kinda removed what made the first game stand out.
Aaron Allen
maybe they should play other games then i dont play time attack games when i want to freeroam in a gta game
Jaxon Ortiz
>Dead Rising 2 is a huge letdown from the first game in every way and casualizes the game with god survivors and overpowered combo weapons you unlock from the start of the game, also runs bad because it's made by some shitty canadian studio that had only made a couple mediocre sports games before this >Dead Rising 3 is even worse and made by the same studio >Dead Rising 4 still has the same studio, and for some reason people didn't expect it to be even worse
Evan Perez
>Gives absolutely overpowered exo suit right off the bat >No sense of progression whatsoever >Pure fun
That shit'll get boring within hours. Regenerating health doesn't help either
>Okay, but what you have to understand is that challenge isn't something that's suitable in triple-A videogame sequels in 2016. I'm sure Capcom have done their market research and they understand they're losing potential sales by having a time limit.
You say that, but turning away your fanbase from a game to try and appeal to people that never liked your game in the first place sounds like a fucking terrible idea. I have a feeling this isn't gonna pan out how Capcom thinks it is
See: DmC
Kayden Carter
It absolutely tried to pander to the west since the first game, it's a game about zombies in a shopping mall, for fuck's sake.
Luis Cook
>It seems lazy, though. Instead of introducing an option like in Dead Rising 3 or elaborating on the freedom from doing the story option, they outright remove the feature and claim the best for business strategy, even though most of the people who buy it are probably not going to stick to the game long after.
It's not lazy, not having to design the game around a time limit means they're free to devote more resources to the things that most of their potential customers care about. It's not like the developers are going to kick back and relax when they would have otherwise been working or something.
Ian Lee
>PS4 I think I puked in my mouth a little.
Levi Perez
Dead Rising 2 was fine
Jace Price
Dead Rising 2 wasn't a let-down, it was better than Dead Rising 1 in almost every way.
William Phillips
Will buy 1 for nostalgia Will ignore 4 until it crashes burns and fucks off
Isaac Stewart
You're a casual faggot who should be playing tumblrtale instead. DR2 combos weren't all that overpowered and the game ran better than the first one.
Aaron Hill
frank's new voice actor is horrible
Logan Collins
It's going to be the best selling entry in the series, but okay.
Benjamin Gutierrez
Are we certain that the exo suit wasn't just included for the gamescom demo and will be much harder to get in the final game?
Zachary Russell
>pure fun >run out of shit to do immediately once you realize zombies aren't a threat >lol so random weapons everywhere >no reason to play through the game ever again
I bought dead rising even before I had a 360. I played the shit out of it, many different paths and playthroughs. I didn't even know about most of the bosses on my first playthrough. Didn't know about most survivors or when they showed up. All of the interesting encounters in playthroughs after my first made the game worth playing over and over.
I played through DR2 and still enjoyed it, but it felt a bit too easy. Entering areas with survivors were easier than ever, but they took way too much damage. Overall I could deal with it.
Dead Rising 3 was a let down though. No reason to be stressed about anything, no reason to do much of anything. In an attempt to being fun, it comes off as boring.
>ran better than the first one >run around outside >visible fps drops on 360 >artifacting at times Dead Rising wasn't the prettiest game, but it ran better than 2.
Owen Cook
They're pushing it way too hard and as a big part of the game for it not to be something acquirable fairly easily. I'll still admit your scenario is still possible though
Anthony Green
From what has been shown, Dead Rising 4 doesn't seem to innovate too much from 3, and a lot of the stuff seem to be inspired a bit with the Super DLC.
Though, you're not wrong, customers these days care about doing showy shit and moving on to the next shiny rather than struggling through a game for any reason whatsoever.
Grayson Peterson
IIRC, ProJared's e3 video on DR4 said he asked the devs that and they said they'll be much harder to get in the final game.
Samuel Bailey
>implying the time limit has ever made the game inaccessible
Dead Rising 1 was the only game where the time limit mattered, and it wasn't harsh enough to break the game. Dead Rising 2 had a much more relaxed time limit and it was much easier to get a 100% playthrough. Dead Rising 3s time limit was virtually nonexistent. I don't even think anybody has ever overrun the time limit without actually trying to do so.
Plus, Dead Rising has been casual as fuck all around ever since 2.
Ian Cruz
That's why you play 2 on PC
Isaiah Long
Your sense of progression is beating the storyline/ any side missions. And doubt it, in response to your reply to the other guy. I played Dead Rising sinse 2007 and I want to get this one at launch but it's a timed PS4 exclusive. Mad? Will be playing DR4.
Matthew Green
>implying DR2 Frank was anything like DR1 Frank
Aaron Hill
>best selling Based on what? 3 didn't even surpass 2 in sales.
Christopher Lee
>Literally current year argument You are everything that is wrong with games today. Saying that a triple-A title shouldn't be challenging because others aren't is pathetic. People like you who aren't good at videogames simply shouldn't play them. Plus like I said before the time limit isn't even that much of an issue.
Jonathan Diaz
im comparing the 360 versions since Dead Rising 1 was only on 360 until it released on the Wii, and now on pc. That would be a fair comparison. Otherwise, i'd compare the PC version of Dead Rising with the PC version of Dead Rising 2, once its released.
>Frank after the fame >getting old and fat
Xavier James
>by removing the time limit
finally, a good decision. As long as there is no Zombrex bullshit like in the 2nd game you have to be at a specific place at a specific time.
Asher Ross
zombrex
all the boss fights are worse
didn't have an actual survival mode until they made you pay a bunch of more money for it in OTR, instead they had shitty minigames
story is both longer and 500% less wacky and interesting
there are no good setpieces like the convicts running around
completely loses any of the survival horror/roguelike elements because every single storeroom has the materials to make the spike bat or pole weapon or something which lets you button mash crowds of zombies into paste from level 1, and using combo weapons gets you crazy amounts of PP compared to photography in the first game so you level up way faster
dead rising 1 used MT framework, the god engine
dead rising 2-4 run on a different engine because the devs are incompetent weed smoking canadians that where directly offered help on how to use MT framework but it was too hard so they used other shitty engines they made instead. The HD version of DR1 looks noticably better than the other games in the series and it always ran better
Joseph Miller
The magazine dupe bug in DR2 was amazing. Especially when cars did not break down anymore. lots of fun was had.
Zachary Taylor
I never understood the people who were pissed off about the time limit of the first game, who just wanted to "have fun" at there own pace.
That's literally exactly what you did. You just dicked around in the mall doing whatever the fuck you wanted as you leveled up until that got boring. Then you restarted the game and used your new found power + what you learned about the game to actually play the story and get through it.
Angel Collins

Jackson Edwards
Dead Rising 3 was an exclusive for a year and then it had an infamously shitty PC port. Dead Rising 4 is a timed exclusive for the Xbox One, PC and after a year it'll come to PS4. Now they're getting rid of the time limit less people will be hesitant to play it too. Mark my words, it will sell better than any other entry in the series, and that's the only thing that matters.
Challenge is unacceptable in a triple-A sequel because it limits sales, dingus.
Jordan Foster
So it is true then, they did get rid of Frank's VA. any reason as to why? has Terence Rotolo tweeted or said anything about it yet?
If its Peter von Gomm I won't mind, he made a pretty good Frank in Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom.
Oliver Williams
Nothing triggers me more than hearing people complain about the time limit in Dead Rising. The people who whine about that are exactly the people who ruined sandbox games.
yes; mad, fuck you.
Jackson Phillips
>MT Framework isn't being used for new projects >Panta Rhei is in development hell
Alexander Allen
People contacted Rotolo on FB and he said he loves the role but Capcom never contacted him.
After months of badgering Capcom about it, Capcom said they changed his VA but they wanted a more "mature" sounding Frank.
Joseph Gutierrez
Reasons as to why could be anything, maybe they wanted someone with a bigger name, maybe different voice desire, maybe it's a ruse.
From what has been shown, it doesn't sound like Gomm.
Sebastian Sanders
I hope everyone who whined about the time limits know that the blame for DR falling from grace rests squarely on their shoulders.
Jaxson Sanchez
Can we please nip this ruse shit in the bud before we become as big of a joke as the MGS fanbase
Jose Murphy
Dead Rising 3 sold like shit because it was shit, user. It had no charm, and it was run of the mill. They made the game easy as shit and tried to bank on "fun" to make a sell.
Problem is, you can get "fun" in a shit ton of games these days. If the game doesn't offer anything else, people will just look elsewhere.
Jason Watson
>he thinks games that aren't good don't sell well
Zachary Parker
I liked dead rising 3. But I'm a thirsty nigga for all things dead rising. This time removal nonsense is a huge problem, though.
Jose Torres
Well, that fucking sucks, its the MGS shit all over again.
So I'm guessing we don't know who Frank's new VA is yet.
Camden Thompson
>making a blanket statement >Dead Rising sold well for the first entry >Dead Rising 2 surpassed it >Dead Rising 3 around the amount of Dead Rising Its a step back, not a step up. This is a game that didn't sell well because it wasn't good in comparison to the previous games. That's simply shit by design.
Easton Lee
With every bit of info revealed, my hype and hopes died little by little until now, that I don't give a fuck anymore.
At least I can buy Dead Rising in PC. DR1 is a pretty good game, DR2 was a decent follow up and OTR is some nice fanservice; I'm ok with the series dying this way.
Elijah Brown
>thirsty for all things dead rising watch the movies, and cringe at the shitty attempt of the actor being Frank West. All in all they're ok though. Don't expect much and you'll enjoy them.
Jason Gutierrez
Dead Rising and Dead Rising 3 were both exclusives retard.
Levi Myers
>removing the time limit this board is full of massive faggots fairplay, they always seem to be attracted to the shite capcom that has been shitting out this past Decade
Joseph Richardson
if it were any other franchise I wouldn't bother with shitty movies, but hey, thanks for the tip! Time to get a frozen pizza and debauch myself with DR
Aiden Parker
At least Kief wasn't that bad at the role. The new Frank is straight up awful.
I was convinced Hayter would voice Big Boss during the ending when we left Venom's perspective until he got on that mortorcycle on the grounds that Venom's brain washing made him think Big Boss had his voice when recalling the events of GZ/when Big Boss was with him.
Nolan Nelson
DR2 Frank looked and sounded like the DR1 Frank, are you retarted?
Hudson Gray
THANKS OBAMA
Nathaniel Nelson
I watched the first one and I found it pretty enjoyable for what it was.
Frank's scenes were pure cringe and awkwardness, I also found it pretty funny/pathetic how they spent a whole night building combo weapons only for them to break in two hits or to be stolen. But the protags were fine; even though the main character had the personality and story arc of the real DR1 Frank West.
John Hughes
>retarted He was referring to his mannerisms.
Parker Butler
People's mannerisms can change, the fact is they kept the same voice actor and look of the character, they didn't even do that this time round. Hell they managed to for the DR3 dlc so why not this time?
Juan Ramirez
Doesn't excuse the poor performance. Dead Rising 3 eventually went to pc and still didn't surpass the first game in sales. Meanwhile, Dead Rising will sell far better on pc I'm sure.
Brayden Moore
Why are the canadians still in charge of the franchise? Fucking seriouly, can't they just get the original team back?
Ayden Anderson
Makes me so mad.
I actually honestly truthfully loved the time limit.
It made leveling important, gaining speed stat and health especially was so fucking good, offered new opportunities to find shit on the map or do things you couldn't beforehand.
Not to mention shortcut discovery, having to plan out your next run, taking advantage of the first day and night before the zombie numbers quadruple.
DR1 especially was designed around it and used it well. Its mind boggling that people felt so entitled that they couldn't get the full experience in one 6 hour sitting.
Gabriel Myers
the time limit was pressure, it gave you some THING to do and when you got a hot poker stabbing your ass all the time it makes it a frantic, panicy, fun experience.
without the time limit, well, OP nailed it. I'll get tired of the 'freedom' in three hours after playing dress up and going zombie bowling
Grayson Price
Yep. Best way to put it really. This looks like just more wacky Saints Row 3/4 shit. Doesn't look like a game worth more than 15 dollars honestly.
I'm not interested in the slightest. Why does Capcom fuck every good franchise they have up?
Isaiah Perez
I don't know man, Hitman is busting my balls on its ratings and not tolerating me fucking up and it's the most fun I've had in ages.
