ITT complete wastes of money

ITT complete wastes of money

every current console

The wired one can be used to play MH3U online with a 3DS, so it kinda have a point.

It wasn't a complete waste, but it sure was bullshit.

I played a full year of online Tetris DS through that thing.

I'll have you know I spent many an hour playing Mario Kart thanks to that thing. fucking snakers

>current

>Had to buy three of these things just to play Pokemon and Phantasy Star 0 because they kept breaking somehow

Fuck

I bought that piece of shit

It worked MAYBE 30% of the time, and even then the range on it was like 10 feet

...

good thing i never found one to buy, then.

I bought two. Lovely unknown error codes.

every nintendo accesory ever

git gud and follow the meta.

>Implying
With the hacked drivers installed that dongle provided my entire family with Wifi for several years because my dad was too cheap to get a new router.

>Get DS
>Can't connect to Nintendo WFC
>Wi-Fi router uses WPA not WEP
>Fuck changing that
>buy OP pic related
>Play Mario Kart DS online nearly every night for at least a year

Don't know about you but that certainly wasn't a waste of money for me OP a lot of fun times were had thanks to that

It helps around your shitty router that can't connect to online mulitplayer by itself

I have one, you mean it's possible to do so without a WiiU?

These things were really prone to overheating and failure though

oh my fucking god you have no idea the fucking bullshit i went with this fucking garbage. i don't know what it is with nintendo and online play, but it NEVER fucking works smoothly for me.

because i live in australia, our internet is already inherently shit. so here's little timmy with his brand new DS wondering how to use the GTS in pokemon diamond and pearl.
but the ds doesn't connect to the router! there's a bunch of fucking settings blocking you from connecting via wifi! but it's ok! there's always this steaming pile of shit as a substitute!
now of course it was only 70 fucking dollarydoos, but at least it god the job done. one day timmy decides to lend it to his friend so he can go on the gts. little did he know his parents are fucking cunts.
now timmy can't go over to his friend's house and get his shit back because his parents don't want to talk to his friend's parents. fast-forward like 5 years. timmy gets a 3ds which connects to wifi instantly.
timmy gets in contact with his old friend (timmy drives now) and he finally gets his wifi connector back...only to have it stop working because nintendo dropped updates and software support like 3 fucking years ago.

and that's not the only thing i hate about my fucking internet. i had to go through like 3 different routers just to get splatoon to work. for some bullshit fucking reason, my wii U didn't want to go online through my router.
i had to look online for router forum posts where others had the same problem, but no one had a straight answer. all this jumping through hoops just to get shit to work makes up like 90% of my computer knowledge.
i literally wouldn't know half this inane bullshit if i didn't live on a street with internet so bad that it's the slowest in the world according to the Akamai Q3 2015 rankings.

i wanna fucking kill myself.

Best post, first post is

I have that wifi adapter and used it to do the smashhax homebrew on my new 3ds, when that was the only way.

this

it helped me out a lot, how is it useless

I dont understand posts like this.
If consoles would have stayed with racing, sports, fighting and action games they would have an actual spot in the gaming industry.

How many devices do a nintendo console needs to properly work?

Because if nintendo handhelds used proper online funtionality there wouldnt be a need for it

650 dollars to play AAA shovelware

>no one's posted this

Mine worked brilliantly. Had tons of fun playing Jump Ultimate Stars with gooks.

Found the underage

Wrong. You can only do 3DS online with a Wii U.

Never had router issues before but for the longest time my ISP's DNS was the main reason I could never use my Wii U online. It never got fixed until recently and by now there was no bloody point to connecting the damned thing.

Dolphin has built-in support for this if you plug it into your computer

Why have you got noise generators on your RAM.

>you now realize that diamond and pearl came out 10 years ago.
>kids who were 8 with pearl are now 18

dunno who you're calling underaged. i'm 22 btw.

i bought this and it helped loads

I remember that thing. It was a piece of shit

I didn't have proper wifi back then so it wouldn't have been a waste buying it, I never did at the end though.

>4-port USB gamecube adapter
It's only a waste if you literally only own a Wii U, and even then there's a homebrew program to use it to emulate gamepad inputs.

...

Honestly my dude, that was my only link online for a lot of games for years because my father was late into the wireless internet stage.

I spent $2000 on my PC in 2011 only to find out the industry cucked my platform and turn it into a multiplatform machine. PC has no games now, all its actual PC devs and PC exclusive games are dead. It's just AAA multiplat garbage ware.

PC gaming unironically kill PC gaming. My PC is literally a more expensive console with free online that's missing games. It's sad.

I don't know, my girlfriend likes it a lot for some reason.

Hold on, what the fuck is this? The DS had built in WiFi.

I was gonna reply that it's a shit product out of the box but with the drivers it was my only wifi for a year or so.

If only you were smart enough to access the tens of thousands of free mods and total conversions that you can access on the PC.

How the fuck do you use it for anything else? I plugged it into my laptop and couldn't get any Steam games to recognize it.

What, are you trying to play TF2 or something with a gamecube controller?

You use it for emulating gamecube and wii games on PC.

...

you can use it to play gamecube games on vwii using nintendont

This was amazing. I didn't have wifi back then so when I finally got one of these I was finally able to play Pokemon online and download Virtual Console games before I had a computer good enough to run emulators.

PCs are capable of excelling in every fucking genre you retarded pleb. It's just industry bias that gives consoles any presence whatsoever. They hold the entire game industry back.

Wi-Fi connects to a wireless router, but you don't have one. You put this in your computer, now your DS Wi-Fi can connect to your internet through your computer. You have to remember that in 2007 wireless routers were not as proliferated as they are today.

Christ mate how much are you paying for those speeds? Pic related is mine and we're around the same area from the looks of it.

Oh, interesting.

Without consoles there would be no industry. Pirates would ruin everything look to the dreamcast and tell me pirating doesnt have an effect.

The DS would only connect only if you had shitty WEP on your router so I was gonna cop that but instead got a DSi which had better wifi security support and I wanted another system bc I'm a loser with no friends who wanted to trade Pokemons to myself.

This thing helped me out when I didn't have a router and used dial-up at my grandparents over the summer.

Mah nigga.

I miss those old online games with people from all across the world snaking and being complete dicks

>tfw that was the only I could connect to the Internet with my Wii and DS
>tfw playing Mario Kart Wii, Pokémon Battle Revolution, Animal Crossing CF, downloading Wii Ware titles and trading Pokémon from that point on

>Buy a DSi
>Still can't use WPA for anything but the useless web browser

Those plastic steering wheels for the wii.
People still bought them thinking they needed them to play Mario Kart

>tfw ever since POkemon Go hype all my friends picked up used DS Lites and DSis off GS with Pokemon HG and SS
>I have a wii with Pokemon Battle Revolution and we have big tournaments on the big screen

Why didn't Nintendo released another barebones Pokemon game on the Wii U just to have battles in 1080p on the big screen again?

...

>You can use it for a lot of things!
>If those things are Homebrew and emulation
Fuck off, you're worse than Nintendo advertising this.

>unironically playing with Gen 4's mechanics on 2016
How wonderful

Also, GameFreak stated that they won't do more big screen titles with Genius Sonority à la Stadium/Battle Revolution anymore because the 3DS games are already in 3D.

Well whatever, I'm not the guy promising the world to you.

I sure as heck don't know what you'd do with it on PC other than play emulated games with it.

>2007
DS came out in 2004 though, unless I'm missing something

Is... Is this a joke?
Was this really a real thing?

Use a GameCube controller for games instead of buying an expensive PC game controller, obviously.
But apparently I should've just bought a shitty pre-owned Xbox 360 controller at FUCKING GAMESTOP instead.

I can see a point to this thing to be honest. NDS was ass backwards when it came to the Internet play and it couldn't handle anything better than the shitty WEP security. Instead of putting your main router at risk you could just buy your kid one of these sticks and don't have to worry about your asshole neighbour leeching off your connection.

You have to download and set up a wrapper like vJoy for it to work as an Xinput controller.

...

The Dreamcast failed because it didn't have DVD.

Nigga I don't remember the year the DS came out, I remember the year I got one which was in 2007.

Oh jesus that thing was so ill conceived.

I think the most successful game to come out using it has been that Johan Sebastian Joust thing for gaming events.

What, specifically the New, or 3DS in general?

Because if you didn't have a 3DS yet, it's hard to argue that the new is a complete waste.

This was cool, but the browser was so shitty

>liquid cooling a $650 comper
nice meme

I am unsure if the USB dongle was released at the time the DS came out. I only heard of it when the online capable games started appearing.

I failed for many more reasons than that, brosef.

I had this. The sad thing is that it was still better than the 3DS's browser.

Not at all, it was released at a time when a lot of people (including myself) hadn't switched over to wireless routers. I used that all the time to play AC, Metroid, Mario Kart, and a bunch of other shit online for years. I actually just found it and threw it away a couple weeks ago.

I'm not your brosef, brohammed.

It was a joke gift you could give middleaged/elderly family menbers to poke fun at how they can't keep up with technolgy.

At least you know you are a failure.

10 year old me thought the tech was cool, but god what a waste.

>Only way to get rare Pokemon and items
>Waste
nigga, what?

>tfw using Wii's internet channel for internet when we had no internet here
>had to steal neighbor's wifi by setting the wii in a VERY specific location and even then it would rarely work

Imagine having that piece of shit setup be your only source of lewds

I blew money on the NES game cards too.

>urban champion ereader cards

That's hilarious, cards for a game nobody likes that go for an addon nobody has

>tfw discovering porn on your DS

...

I would still like a usable 3DS browser. It would be convenient.

This single device singlehandedly ruined Pokemon gen III for me I hate it

I still have mine but havent used it in ages

No it wasn't.

The browser on the N3DS is a lot better than the reg 3DS but still is shit compared to mobile phones.

I really had high hopes for this thing.

Is this thing actually real?

Japan only, and i think in Crystal you could do trades like that over not-wifi
