Okay, so we all know explore simulator is missing more than half of its features, but lets have a serious talk about it. It's just a base game at the moment, but do you think they can redeem themselves if they add everything they promised? In my opinion I think they ran out of time.

cont: I'm not taking up for Hello Games I'm just as pissed as everyone else.

>but do you think they can redeem themselves if they add everything they promised?
Add multiplayer and fucking bases? It's pointless, it's not a game designed for that and it shows, they're going to include that content only to appeal the survivalfags. I'd be better off with expansion aimed towards underground / underwater dungeons and stranded ships.

I personally dodged the hype and have just been watching it from the sidelines. To me it seems like something that could be good, but only if they add a bunch of features. I believe they mentioned base building as something they want to work on which is certainly neat, but they really gotta put some more shit in.

Perhaps adding trading outposts/towns to some planets, implementing areas that players can teleport to so they can actually meet/trade, putting in quicker shortcuts to refuel/repair shit instead of having to navigate menus, adding more than just flora and fauna into the planet creation process (something like decimated buildings, left over ruins, enemy bases, etc), and generally just putting in more shit would go a long way.

Hell, even some smaller stuff could help. Maybe add in ships that are big enough to walk around in or can have more than one player. Or have NPCs give players actual tasks so that when the mindless roaming becomes boring they can actually focus on something specific.

Clearly this game's biggest issue is a lack of content. I'm all for exploration and simply walking around interesting environments, but that only lasts for a certain amount of time before you start wondering why you're wandering around. And mindlessly mining minerals and scanning horrific randomized animals isn't engaging.

>underwater dungeons

I agree with you, just adding to it would help.
Obviously SM stretched the truth but I think he will deliver on everything that was promised. People aren't considering that Sony rushed them into a release.

>Obviously SM stretched the truth but I think he will deliver on everything that was promised.

That I disagree with. Sony did rush them, but this isn't a matter of lack of time. Entire mechanics are missing or might as well be. I'm simply talking about salvaging a clearly unfinished game into something worthwhile. The game will probably never be anything like what was promised or even shown. Just look at the trailer that is on every store page for it, it looks absolutely nothing like what we got.

It can be turned into an interesting survival game with heavy focus on exploration over holing up in some dark corner. But it will never be what was promised or seen. You would basically have to make a sequel for that to happen. For now the best they can do is build on what is good, fix what is broken, and try to add in some features that adds depth rather than appeals to people who like to break apart rocks for an hour straight.

There's no real point to base building in the game unless you plan on staying in the same system forever. Games more geared towards exploring and it's too much a pain in the assignment to warp back and forth to your base planet. There are ruins and stuff in, but ya, very underwhelming. I'd almost feel better if the removed shit like that on some planets. As of now, every one has some man made structures. Would be cool if there were completely untouched ones, then you can like build shit that processes mats or generates steady income. Can even make them break down every once in a while, have to warp back to repair it and shit.

Well perhaps bases can serve to hold on to resources that you know could be valuable, but do not have the space in your inventory or ship for. And perhaps a form of teleporter could be created and it serves as a hub you can go back to regardless of your ship's position.

Either way, it's something. If they're already talking about implementing such a mechanic you can only hope for the best and they'll think about how it fits into their exploration heavy game.

I can see where your coming from. There is another thing that has been in the back of my mind. What about the fanbase? I watch videos now and then and SM strictly talks about an arcade style game, I feel as if the fanbase may have only focused on what they wanted and not what was actually said.

I like that idea.

It can be really relaxing at times
>Flora: abundant
>Fauna: absent
Maximum comfy. I hope they'll let me warp back to some chosen planets, even with some expensive item.

>What about the fanbase? I watch videos now and then and SM strictly talks about an arcade style game, I feel as if the fanbase may have only focused on what they wanted and not what was actually said.

An arcade style game? That's a little baffling to hear considering it's a game almost entirely focused on simply exploring for the sake of exploring. You don't go to planets to get points or simply focus on moving towards the center of the universe. If that was the intended purpose then I have no fucking clue what happened in the end.

Regardless, perhaps some fan input would be good for them. Considering all of the miscommunications (and some outright lies) it might be a good idea to see what the fans want rather than what you want seeing as how what they want clearly didn't play out well. So long as they take it with a grain of salt (or a whole bucket) fans can help to show what good there is in the game so they can solely focus on that content. Otherwise they may throw new content into the game that doesn't make sense from a player's perspective. A good example is something like adding a hunger mechanic that so many survival games have. Popular with developers, but it would be terrible in NMS.

youtube.com/watch?v=Wdes0D1rL7E

>when you lie out the ass what do you expect?

PROTIP: Shores of Hazeron was made by one guy and is sixteen quadrillion times better than NMS.

Oh yea that looks incredible.

I hope you're not being sarcastic

At this point, simply adding features like base building would be a naive if not idiotic move. Not until they refine the features that are already there. Adding content to the game won't fix it if the core mechanics are still heaping piles of dogshit.

>More type of sentinels
>Upgrades doesn not take up inventory slots
>Be able to build a base
>Be able to domesticate wild animal
>Add some new feature through crafting to the multitool like changing weather, make a shield or simply call the ship to your place
>Make some "boss" appear randomly on planets and in space that drop rare stuffs
Literally just make it dont starve in space and it would be good

>they lied and fucked us right in the ass the first time

>Surely this means they'll fix the game and make it what it should be!

This is MGSV TPP levels of denial, holy fucking shit.

>A cum tribute to a con man
Is what this should have been called

even if they did add the features in, it's too late. The game's lost whatever magic it could have had

>in development since 2013
>ran out of time

Shills please go. Reported and hidden.

They won't add everything. They got the cash and aren't going to rehaul everything to add an elaborate multiplayer component.

I thought it was a lie.

I thought, there's no way, just no way that the end could be that. Thats like one of the top worse endings along with "It Was All A Dream"

But they did it.

They really did it.

A H"ere We Go Again" Ending.
Eternally.

There is no payoff among the stars.

There is only the grind.

Only the grind.

Its like spending hours upon hours grinding to get more powerful to defeat the super secret hidden bosses. But there is no hidden boss. There isn't even levelling up.

Every "bonus" the game gives you is just another dwindling bar designed tomconsume more resources. That's all you do. Consume resources. Consume time. There is no end goal, no achievement to reach for, there is just an eternity of procedurally generated NOTHING and the endless laughter of the barely formed monsters in the barely formed worlds.

No OP, they can't save this game. There isn't even a game here.

Thety should sell their code to a developer who could make it into something worthwhile from the ground up.

Trying to salvage no mans lie is a fucking waste of time. You will just be polishing a liquid shit.

EA is involved and the devs lied. You'll be lucky if you get anything but paid DLC.

Reminder that this was a scam.
Vid related was in April and it looks already better than release two months. I wonder what that delay was really for.

JUST

Base building and freighters are the only things that are confirmed so far to be added.

There are already trading outposts and ruins in the game. I'd like cities and "enemy bases" so when you're on a planet you have to take over a territory for a faction/race.

They already have space stations you can walk around in. And once freighters are added they will have more ships to walk around in. That's not really too exciting for me but it's coming like it or not.

I agree that the game needs more content. I can't help but think the core game is okay but it wouldn't be great until they add traditional multiplayer or modding support.

If they add the multiplayer, freighters and base building sooner rather than later I think the game won't lose as many players as it probably would have.

I'd like to see avatar creation, more giant apex predators on planets, more pirates/bounty hunters after you and some basic missions like destroy the Vy'keen outpost or defend the space station from Pirates etc.

I want the aliens to actually be people and not just sit there in one location.
I want to find civilizations, both ancient and new, not some silly shrine that gives you a pop quiz multiple choice.

Put those E3 trailer planets in the math and let me build bases and own large space craft. Above all else stop the random game crashes.

i think its probably too late. the only way it can really come back is if the price drops drastically at the same time as the shit they promise to add coming out.

i want to see towns and more active areas throughout the galaxy more than base building. i found this place that almost resembled a small town the other day, kinda made me wonder what they could pull off if they wanted. ship customization needs to be implemented, and soon - i wanna add to my ship, not trade it

I'd love if you pick a faction and you have to work for them in space and on the ground. If you board an enemy space station there will be aliens out of their ships shooting at you. Or if you land at an enemy outpost they will come out of the building and shoot at you.

Right now the faction stuff or gaining favor with certain doesn't feel very real or important at all.

You know this is all just pointless wish listing right?

The only confirmed things are allowing players to use existing assets in new ways. That's all.

Building a base just means placement of the base assets that already exist.

Using a freighter won't mean piloting it, just using it to transport resources. Bigger inventory. More grind.

What's the point?

another thing that needs to be added is more alien species to interact with. millions of flora and fauna, but only 3 fucking species in the entire "infinite universe?" come on, fampai.

pic semi-related, i really like korvax pod houses. it would be cool to see more alien ships and architecture

If building a base means you can "trans-warp" back to a planet you like from any point in the galaxy then I am in. If I can make my "base" look like a huge city then I am definitely in.

If I can walk around my freighter and launch my small ship out of it then I'm down. If my freighter looks like the Enterprise and I have to defend it from pirates or other freighters then I'm down.

If they add actual multiplayer ie giant space battles, objectives to take over planets on foot, hundreds of player made avatars running around a contested planet...then I'll play this game for more than a week.

It's not like those aliens are really adding anything to the game

it took them 5 years to get here, so maybe in another 5?

There is only a few things that Sean talked about being in the game that I'm interested in.

Giant animals that exist on barren planets that give you a feat from killing them, basically monsters, shadows of colossus type stuff.

Actual factions, wing men that would escort you in your travels, reason to get into a space fight if your faction is being attacked etc.

Multiplayer that goes beyond the usual make an avatar, third person view etc. I'd like to see a solar system hub that anyone can warp to in the galaxy. One system with every kind of space station, a few planets and moons and an ass load of npc freighters and pirates everywhere. When you warp in you join a faction and fight for control over command posts or bases in the system.

NO user U DONT UNDERSTAND ITS DEAP4YUO!
ITS ABOUT HOW MINING-LESS THE WORLD IS!
SO IT MAKES U MINE LESS! ITS TOO DEEP
BUT DONT GO TOO DEEP CUS THEY PATCHED IT OUT AND ADDED WATER SPAWNING
AND THE SUN IS FAKE!
HOW CAN SPACE BE REAL IF THE SUN IS FAKE?
ITS A DEEP GAME

for cucks that never played or understood the appeal of what makes a good sanbox game, a good sanbox game.
NMS is neither a sandbox nor a game. Its the cucking of the gaming industry and bane of all development teams.

>If building a base means X
More fucking wish listing.

Building a base means building a base. Placing an asset. Making a structure. The core gameplay is still to keep moving forward. The bases will just be a structure you build, nothing more. At best you may have a free ability to use a free code puzzle.

>If I can walk in my freighter
No, it will just be a stock asset freighter ypou can interact with to dump cargo.
Probably via a menu.

>if they add multiplayer and giant space battles
You are asking g for a new fucking game.
Live in reality for fucks sake.

aside from having new ships to sell, new houses/ruins to explore, and new languages to learn? no, they dont really do shit. theyre practially ATM's. they need to add more variety to the interactions as well

THOSE FLYING CREATURES NOT SPINING IN CIRCLES LIKE RETARDS ROFL
THE AMOUNT OF PRESCRIPT GOING

>cucking

You could make your (correct) point without sounding like a retard, you know.

Why do people get so butthurt about wanting more features in NMS?

It's almost like you don't want any of these things in the game? Would you prefer it stayed as is asshole?

Question is if Hello Games can make that kind of combat decent enough. Flying combat is bare bones as it is as well.

I honestly wish the aliens would walk out and about on planets and in space stations. I wish being friendly with them means they would ask you to do quests like hunt a certain animal or attack or another faction on a planet or in space.

As it is currently all the aliens sit in chairs and don't really add too much to the game beyond trading or getting blueprints.

Oh boiii dog fight with a fat freighter in the planet's atmosphere sure is gonna be a fucking NIGHTMARE WITH THAT CONTROL TAKE OVER BY THE GAME.
FUCK
BASEBUILDING = POINTLESS IF U CANT INVITE ANYONE
EXPLORING = POINTLESS IF THERE IS NOTHING TO FIND
PLAY PRETEND THAT U DISCOVERED SOMETHING = ALIENS COMING AND GOIND AND OUTPOST ON EVERY PLANET
FUCk
HOW DO U FIX GARBAGE?

Its called being realistic.

You are just setting yourself up for disappointment. Of course I want the game to be more than it is. But if you think patches are going to add even a fraction of the unrealistic expectations in this thread, then you are just lying to yourself.

THE ANGER. CONSUMES ME. WHAT NAME CAN I BESTOW UPON LIARS THAT HAD A CLEAR VISION BUT DELIVERED UTTER VAPORWARE?

Because you're hyping yourself up for shit you're never going to get. That's what got you buying this bare bones game to begin with. They lied and fucked all of us over. Stop sitting around and acting like they are ever gonna fix the game or make it better. It's pointless wishing when we all know damn well it's never going to happen that way. This os worse than MGSV fans and the way they acted when they got their gimped game. Just fucking stop hyping yourself up for nothing.

Freighters should be space only.

I don't care about having people in my base I just want to be able to warp back to the base at anytime anywhere especially if it's a planet I like.

If they add more dangerous animals, player cities, races, pirates etc then I'll keep exploring.

I don't care that there are outposts on planets, I just care that they all look the same. I'd like more variety in the building design.

I don't think the core game or engine is garbage, I just want more to do which it sounds like that's what you want too.

Why the fuck cant people just make a fucking game and then release it when its done? Are people seriously this big of jews that they cant wait to cash in on their shekels?

Posted this in another thread but I'll post it again

>Inventory and equipment system is a mess and needs to be redone
>Flight mechanics need a complete rework (along with allowing players to turn off the training wheels and fly along the planet's surface)
>With those flight mechanic changes do a complete combat rework
>Needs a ground-based vehicle for planet exploration (something like the Mako)
>Needs quests that can be given out by NPCs as to give more stuff for the player to do
>Not enough creature parts to give true variety in what you find on planets

Really hoping those freighters are going to be space-based vehicles that allow docking of multiple ships within them. Don't see them as something that could easily go planetside with how the game works right now. Having your bigass trade ship (with lots of inventory space) and smaller ships to take out for exploring planets would be pretty neat

...

>CLEAR VISION

That hardly seems relevant to this discussion though. Unless dropping a deck of cards on the ground and going "wait a minute..." counts as a clear vision for a game.

Given they're self-funded $5 says they were getting low on cash reserves and didn't have much left to keep going on. They already said they were gonna keep updating the game with shit before so it works in their favor

I can hope they add whatever I want to the game man.

Hello Games made a few of these NMS threads. If they are reading this shit anyway wouldn't you rather they saw ideas they could steal for the game then a bunch of crybabies that just want to jump ship?

I don't think they will do anything extremely game changing to this game, just because it's on console. If it were PC only, then there would be major changes. Putting this game on consoles is screwing them over in the long run.
Dumb ass indie company.

Self funded? Still playing the "po indie devs dindu nuffin" card. EA was involved. Stop outright lying.

>just found a planet full of vortex cubes
I've struck gold lads

>Hello Games made a few of these NMS threads.

The shill paranoia has done a number on Sup Forums

I don't think a 15 man team has time to shitpost on Sup Forums and hawk their product

Whats with this lie meme?

Hello games said not all features would be available at launch like a year ago. I didn't think the first week of NMS would have everything.

Also base building and freighters are confirmed, it's not like Hello Games is trying to make NMS 2. They will keep adding to the current game, something they've also confirmed.

I can hype myself all I want faggot. If you don't like the game or don't want them to make it better, I really don't get why you're posting at all.

>EA was involved.

What are you talking about?

Some of the devs are ex EA employees and that's the only connection there

Thank bethesda. Who do you think invented all this shit?

from the moment i heard about this I never it could never work . felt the same about spore.

You need mathematicians and computer scientists to make innovation like this possible. not nu-male hipsters and idea guys.

It doesn't take very long to start a thread, type 5 lines of memes and upload an image m8

I'm honestly convinced half the shit is as bad as it is because it had to come out on PS4. I really hope eventually they put out a Neo version, say fuck it to updating the PS4 version after a year and bring up the quality of the game on PC

Were you seriously not here when this shit happened?

Summer fags.

Stop lying to yourself.

If they see unrealistic ideas, the won't implement them.

That's the point. These are a studio that lied that every atom was randomly generated. They don't need hyped kids to come upmwith pie in e sky dreams that can never be realised.

You were disappointed by NMS bpdashi g your expectations, and youre too fucking stupid to learn your lesson.

Yes, minor new things will be added. But think small. Think really really small.

I think it could be redeemed if they actually added all the promised features and in decent time (would be a tall feat).

What makes me sad is I see a lot of the fanboys seeing the game as redeemed whenever Sean "promises" the new features. Game comes out missing a bunch of stuff, Sean pops up and goes "we'll add bases eventually" and a bunch of people went "see, the game is fine, we have content for many months to come!"
I'll be happy once stuff is in the game. I get sad seeing people who get excited just by being told something will eventually be in the game ("trust us!"). That's how we got into this mess.

What about all the posters everyone also accused of being shills?

You do know those threads were all started by shitposters to make other people mad, right?

Yes, bout bases and freighters already exist in the game assets.

The shit youre dreaming of won't be added. The best you can hope is limited new interactions with existing junk.

>I can hype myself up all I want
Then get ready to be disappointed again you stupid child.

Yes. Variety, proceduraly generated content. Ability to hunt and store animals. Unique animal encounters. Celetial tier rarities (A flying flat shark or space medusa big as a planet) randomly generated Relic.
More lively aliens. ABILITY TO TEAM UP.
Make exploring matter - tiered rewards the more u explore and exploration leaderboard.
Ability to RESEARCH ANIMALS FOR NEW TECH. FUcking content that can fill ALL THAT SPACE.
I used to love the lies they told us but now i cant get over how bad the game is. I uninstalled it after I played for 2h, and its not even a torrent tier... I am sad. ANd angry.

Why are you so pissed that Hello Games wants to add to the game, they aren't unaware that there is problems with the game. Hence why we have two patches in two weeks.

I wasn't disappointed with the game because I knew what it was about. I also think this lie meme is stupid. Murray told us last year that not all features will be available at launch. Only new fags and reddit normies that didn't follow the game would be surprised that not everything is in the game yet.

I do agree with a few minor changes the game would be fine but it won't stop me from hoping they add more to the game.

Sony was in charge of marketing you know.

I'm sure they have an army of indians or similar to do it.

>Lie Meme
Are you on their fucking payroll?

I honestly can't see why else ypou would defend a quintillion shades of shit with a giant reset button at the centre.

>A team of 15 people are definitely making threads around the clock to promote their game on Sup Forums
>It's impossible to think that people on Sup Forums (the place known for just trying to make other people mad all the time) would try and pretend to be shills to make everyone else mad

I really wish I were back in the glory days of Chad Daddy. Those were actually fun

Even if by update 1.5 they somehow added
>multi-player
>things to do
>more than the same 11 planets
>actually interesting flora and fauna
>interesting alien encounters that aren't just bad self narrated dialogue options
>actual sense of direction and purpose
I still would torrent it because Sean Murray can suck a fat pimply cock.

Sorry you're sad and angry over a video game man. I'm not and I like the core game. I want more features and I'm excited about the next patch. Hope Hello Games is paying attention to the complaints about the game seriously and adds features that will keep me playing.

Cheers.

CAPITALISM IS THE GREATEST ECONOMIC SYSTEM POSSIBLE

this message brought to you by capitalism

They never had any intention of including many of those features in the first place. Let's face it- it was never intended to be anything more than a generic, half-assed survival game. Nothing about the game has any depth to it- not the combat, not the exploration, not the crafting, not the story.

I don't think they were expecting to have fans react to the initial reveal the way they did and start coming up with better ideas of what the game could be than the developers themselves could. And even if they could somehow improve any or all of those elements (which I don't think they are capable of), I don't think they would- even with all the heat the game has taken, they are still rolling in the profits. Why would they waste the time?

That's the thing man. More things to interact with in the game is what I want. Also I was never disappointed in the game, that was you.

source on not everything being at launch
because if there's one thing I do know they lied about is multiplayer.

>I still would torrent it

Complaining about a free game lol

When did Sup Forums turn into Reddit? Fucking summer.

Because of numerous death threats due to them delaying said game as much as they did.

This is what I was talking about here.
>Whats with this lie meme?
>Hello games said not all features would be available at launch like a year ago.
>I didn't think the first week of NMS would have everything.

>"You'll be able to see other players"
>"Different races have different attributes [...] and depending on how I'm playing, I might want to kinda make an allegiance with one or [an]other"
>"Like here, we're at the battle between two warring factions. I could join in, I could take sides."
>"The physics of every other game—it’s faked”, in regards to NMS not going to have skyboxes

>Well, you can't expect a game to have things in it at launch that they said would be in it
You know, people toss around the phrase "this is what's killing the industry" a lot, but I really believe this is one of the biggest problems.

You aren't the guy asking for a freighter you can walk in, foot battles, cities, transwarp bases and all that other shit?

You're a guy that understands base building will just be exchanging resources to place an asset and a freighter will just be inventory space?

Just because a game doesn't cost you anything doesn't mean it can't waste your time.

I don't think they can add stuff that alters the geography of planets since that will mess up everything that's already been catalogued by players because of the procedural generation. Just adding something tiny to the code will cause the entire universe to generate in a different way.

Aren't you wasting time on Sup Forums posting about a game you don't like?

They could always just have different update versions with different saves supported like Minecraft did

Who really gives a fuck if your discovery in a universe as big as that game's goes away?

Different user but more storage space is one of the big issues I have with the game. Also if you fly by some of the freighters they already have hangars rendered.

>d-d-don't criticize my game bro

Whether you're a fanboy in denial or soulless shill, your post is fucking pathetic.

If no one gave a fuck about discovering shit, this game has no point.

Fair enough, so a parking space, inventory space and a better hyper drive maybe. Seems realistic.

>Who really gives a fuck if your discovery in a universe as big as that game's goes away?

It's literally the only unique thing the game has to offer and the only reason there is to explore so people who do like the game probably gives a fuck.

>steals game, complains on Sup Forums that it's not enough for him

JESUS

No, I'm just sharing my opinions while looking for images I like.

This shillpost is a series of buzzwords that sounds like an ad lib.

>Why are you so pissed that [GAME DEVELOPER] wants to add to the game, they aren't unaware that there is problems with the game. Hence why we have [NUMBER] patches in [NUMBER] weeks.

>I wasn't disappointed with the game because I knew what it was about. I also think this lie meme is stupid. [LEAD DEVELOPER] told us [TIME] that not all features will be available at launch. Only [NEGATIVE TERM] and reddit [NEGATIVE TERM] that didn't follow the game would be surprised that not everything is in the game yet.

>I do agree with a few minor changes the game would be fine but it won't stop me from hoping they add more to the game.

Fucking make your bait/shill script less transparent you sony fuck. C+, see me after class.

>If no one gave a fuck about discovering shit

I didn't say that, I said who gives a fuck about it being recorded for pretty much nobody else to ever see? If they can change up planet generation to make it more interesting at the cost of resetting saved discoveries I say go for it
