I'm still playing it and so are my friends. Hell I even go to places where its still full of people playing. The game has major flaws but I haven't had so much fun like this with a game in a long time. I miss this type of social interaction in video games, it reminds me of my childhood.

Literally the only two things they've done wrong is removing the tracking system and making the pokemon harder to catch.

Perma banning botters and removing third party tracking sites was an absolute god send.

I'm in Colombia and while browsing a mall I found like 20 people playing on a fountain. Don't know if in the US it's dead, but down here in Latin America quite a handful of people are still playing.
I guess endgame is not really that great, but playing throughout is slightly amusing

It's basically fucked for anyone that doesn't live in an urban environment. The game is set up to spawn more pokemon the more people there are playing in a given area, so if you go to a small town, there will literally be maybe one pokemon within a given 10 mile radius.

Go to Mall of America on any given day, and there will be 20+ pokestops, all with a lure active on them, and you will have 5+ pokemon on your screen to catch at any given time. I went there yesterday and saw well over 100 players, and after about 2 hours I had caught about 50 pokemon (I didn't bother catching any pidgeys, weedles, or ratattas because they are a waste of time in a place like that)

Whether the game is dead or not will depend on where you live. The game as it is right now is pointless unless there are a lot of other people around you playing it too. The suburb I live in has a lot of players, so I can go for walks around my neighborhood and get a good amount of pokemon.

Shit will die after the summer. Mark my words.

Even if you live in an urban area, this one detail ruins the whole concept of the game. They advertised it as going out on real life adventures to capture pokemon, but it turns out you'll have more luck just hanging out at a mall or in the town square all day. There's no potential for adventure at all, so it just becomes a shitty unbalanced RPG that's slightly more of a chore to play because it forces you to head to a place with lots of people to play it.
