Vidya games

Do wrpg make you get closer climax?

WRPGs are better in terms of quality, JRPGs are a dime a dozen these days with no particular attributes that make them any different from the FPS genre.

Only decent jap games are western style so that's just testament that weeb shit is bad

JRPG's facilitate my desire to experience love, as such they are far superior to so called western "games".

Not to mention that western games sell a lot better for one reason alone. They're better.

>that perfect round ass
are you trying to imply that JRPG's are better?

Playing all of persona isn't gonna get you a gf user

i like the thought of jrpgs, but i always get like an hour or two into them and they turn into weeb waifu cringefests. Ex:every tales game, Xenoblade chronicles, valkyria (at least it was different in gameplay). Just played these games recently.

Ok but like what about dragon quest vs something like fallout... Choose wisely.

I killed Sarevok in BG:EE yesterday. And I must say, that all Baldurs Gate was really bland and boring. Story was so cliche that it hurts, companions was not reactive.

Complex and fascinating constructed world? Complex - maybe, fascinating - not really. Inventory appropriate for the journey? Whatever, have +1 weapon and it's ok. Factions? Lol, no. And when I just killed one fucking guard, all of my team flipped out and left me - even though I was chased by bad organisation and I could only:
>defend myself by killing guards and live
>get caught and probably horribly die in prison controlled by evil faction
And my companions left me even knowing that. Companions with "good" characters. What a fuckers.

Philosophical texts? Nope.

BG is fucking overrated as hell.

I mean like... Compared to shit like xenoblade i rather play through that.

This is actually a hidden Souls thread

>oh god another dungeon? cant i just go on more dates

This is literally me during Persona 4.

Please

What did he mean by this?

Who is your persona waifu user? And why is it junpei?

Implying Persona isn't utilitarian as fuck

It's Ken-kun. He is cute and has a spear.

.

Same. The dungeons are just busywork in between the S.Links for me.

WRPGs are boring, pretentious garbage

Tolkein fantasy a best

God bless high socks

What's the game on the bottom left?

>And why is it junpei?
Its because he is fun to be around and who wouldn't fall for ALL THAT MACHO GLORY.

King's Bounty

Here's the thing though, those WPRGs you posted will have memorable characters and scenarios.
Every JRPG you posted could be described as "X with qt animu grills", Valkaryia Chronicles in particular.
Weebs might change the setting but the characters always follow the same handful of animu tropes, so you can hardly argue that JRPGs are more "original" or "unique".
Also, JRPG devs have hardcore sequelitis. Shit, Square could've established a whole new IP in the time it's taken to make FFXV

Good taste

What game is bottom right?

>sequels are bad

>I'd better do some soul searching
>Truly these in-game philosophical texts have brought me closer to illumination

I think you misplaced your fedora, OP

This is coming from a raging autist.

You too user.

The worst thing about jrpgs to me is how much they push the waifu shit onto the player that when i try to play good rpg games (wrpgs only) i find myself looking for the marry option subconsciously and that to me is atrocious.

Here's the bigger thing.

Dragon Age, TES, and (especially) the Witcher aren't Tolkien.

Mass Effect isn't Star Wars.

>play WRPG
>PRESS A TO SWING SWORD
>50 hours later
>PRESS A TO SWING SWORD
>YOU WIN

>JRPG
>get bombarded with pointless menus and tons of dialogue, complexity for the sake of complexity with no substance
>50 hours later
>still bombarded with pointless menus and tons of dialogue, complexity for the sake of complexity with no substance
>quit

>Xenoblade chronicles
>cringey waifu quest

dumb lainposter

>Not choosing mage in a wrpg

WRPG are the REAL RPGs

I want waifufags to levae. WRPGs will always be superior to JRPGs. Hell, JRPGs are not Role Playing Games at all.

>Xenoblade
There's literally no waifu pandering. There's a bit of romance vaguely touched on and scattered here and there but there's no waifu pandering or cute girls being cute.

yet what he says is true. get WRETCK

Out every one here... I trust your opinion the most.

>not liking all the combat mechanics
>not wanting to experiment with every single gameplay element and make the system your bitch
It's like you hate games

>playing wrpgs
>playing jrpgs
>not just playing a table-top RPG

your lain is too clean, needs more film grain

>WRPGs are boring, pretentious garbage
This is true but they have more pleasant gameplay than jrps which gets old really quick

dumb bearsuit posters

>no waifu pandering or cute girls being cute.
Did we play the same game? That shit was in it. Why would you deny it?

How does it feel to have spent money and time on xenoblade?

>those WPRGs you posted will have memorable characters and scenarios.

Ha ha.

This why you don't play RPGs at all. they are really crappy uninspired bullshits

>It's a WPRG vs JPRG episode

>one girl likes the mc
>she's completely ignored by mc
>one girl mc likes
>is dead most of the game
There's like, negative amounts of waifu pandering in that game.

wrpgs take influence from the immersive aspect of table-top RPGs whereas jrpgs take influence from the gameplay style of table-top RPGs

JRPG dungeons in particular play out similarly to dungeon crawling and exploration in a tabletop RPG.

>fascinating constructed world

They do tend to be complex, but uninspired. Western fantasy writers seem to think that the more countries and factions and names they throw into a setting the more interesting it'll be. Videogame RPG lore is insultingly derivative.
JRPGs have far more variety in their settings, but they fall short on a ton of other places. Not to mention the waifu cancer has taken over and there hasn't been an honestly good JRPG in a long while. Not that WRPGs are seeing much quality these days, unless you count shit like the Witcher, but that is already edging out of the genre.

gtfo of my thread if u dont like it u ultrafag memester.

...

>tfw after all these years, P&P RPGs still reign supreme

No videogame can come close to the ridiculously awesome shit you can do in Exalted, for example.

Which game is WW2?

>Not liking both
You guys are fags.

While we are on the subject... What jrpg did the waifu mechanic best? What wrpg left you the most impressed.

Explain, please. Waifu pandering is blatant "I-I LOVE YOU UGUU~" and constant spotlight on the female character. There's no waifu pandering in Xenoblade. Having romance subplots doesn't make something pandering.
There's blatant fanservice like Sharla's armor but it's hardly waifu pandering since he's irrelevent to the plot for 90% of the game lad.

...

No, the ones that arent witcher (>wrpg) all have terrible boner killing looking women and girls

More like stave off the desire to further prevent you from experiencing the real thing, senpai.

>tfw a normie with normie friends who don't want to play table top rpgs

ahhhh

You need nerdy friends for that... & i don't associate with losers.

wRPG, mostly because I don't like jRPG art style.

He wants to experience love, not a gf.

You got your (you)'s, are you satisfied?

>WRPG has to use a example from a 20 year old game
says a lot about the current state of the genre

>It's an "OP hasn't played a single modern Japanese Role-Playing" Episode
>What is Nier
>What is The Last Story
>What is Pandora's Tower
OP, there are tons of examples of JRPGs with great stories that aren't just animu tropes. WRPGs are just as guilty of having Gary Stus, so at least JRPGs tropes allows for character growth, albeit predictably.

There hasn't been a good console JRPG or WRPG in 5 years.

Is gaming truly dead?

>my thread

Oh shit lmao

That's pathetic.

Baldur's Gate is pretty overrated. There were much better RPGs out in 1998 like Fallout 2 and MM6. Funny how you're complaining about the only good part of BG1 though.

While we're at it, can we post some obscure RPGs from both Japan and the West? Something that deserves attention?

>People consider fucking Mass Effect a WRPG
>Dark Souls is somehow not a JRPG

Explain this

...

Space Station 13 and MUDs say otherwise.

Idk if you noticed but the gaming industry/community isn't really one that embraces change...

...

It doesn't exist in real life and the closest thing you can get to it fades away

Why are you skipping The Last Remnant and End of Eternity?

The issue is that the people who use the terms JRPG and WRPG are mentally retarded and actually believe that classifying games by the region they're made in is a good idea.

Don't know why I quoted you. It was meant for OP. Oh well, enjoy the you. It can apply to you too.

Persona 5 will save it

It's not turn based.

>tight space

Pretty good. Fun game and I like it a lot. Bought the Wii U virtual console version yesterday.

JRPG's have been dime a dozen since the mid 1980's. They took ONE video game format, Ultima, and have created an entire fucking 30-year-long cloning process in which they make the same game over and over and over again.

Thats just a cheap justification to cope with your ends. Go ahead and put yourself in the wayside though, while the earners and the winners loot the spoils.

I played Trails in the Sky and it had a complex and fascinating world.

Dude... Skyrim had the best waifu that to this day you cant be with unless you mod.

>WRPGfags shitting on dating sim JRPGs
>the most prolific WRPGs in recent memory are Bioware's dating sims
Your genre isn't doing much better faggots.

This is current nip games now.

They use to not be like this.

>yfw 2003 was 20 years ago

TiTS is unironically one of the best written RPGs in general desu, the world building was top notch and every single character, including every single minor NPC felt like they had a life they were living rather than just being static NPCs who stand in the same spot saying the same things for 80+ hours like most JRPGs

>Bioware games are the most prolific recent WRPGs
>Not Witcher 3

Valkyria Chronicles
