Wii U without Gamepad

So I can get a bare Wii U without a gamepad or anything for 80€. Add the AC cord and a Pro Controller and that makes it a hundred.

I plan on pirating everything because I'm tired of wasting money on games that I never finish (it's a thing with me, I even have games sealed to this day, my steam account is filled with 0h played games)

So that leaves it at 100 and something €. I can get a my friends controller, for this or that whenever I need.

So is this a retarded idea or what?

help an user u guyze

>its an "OP posts a screenshot of his ebay account to get people to buy his shit" episode

Retarded. The Wii U needs the gamepad to work.

Settings menu doesn't work without the gamepad.
It's probably a bad idea.

I've read it's only required to enter the settings and for some very specific games.

I can get access to my friend's one for that specific purpose.

Wtf, why do you need a tablet to access the settings?

Why did Nintendo think this was a good idea?

>Wtf, why do you need a tablet to access the settings?
because who the fuck knows
the browser and eshop eventually got pro controller support

Loadiine, the thing you'd use to play pirated games, only works by using the web browser, which also needs the gamepad.
It's a temporary hack that you need to do every time you boot the system up.

New exploit soon may change that, but I'd say it's still a bad idea.

Because it's nintendo.

Because the console is not just the box. The gamepad is part if the console itself.

>Loadiine, the thing you'd use to play pirated games, only works by using the web browser, which also needs the gamepad

Oh thanks, will wait till that gets fixed. Hope they'll still find exploits in newer firmwares.

>newer firmwares

Nah. They're going to put the Wii U to pasture shortly after the new Zelda comes out. If there will be any new firmware, it'll be geared towards killing Loadline and nothing else.

The gamepad adds nothing other than a Gimmick and the figurines that are another gimmick.

If it added processing power or something then we could say something.

I have been looking around and is just a expansive piece of shit. It costs more than the Wii U alone and serves almost no purposse. My friend I talked about almost never uses it, enjoys it with the Pro controller alone.

How long have you been looking at deals?
I wouldn't think it'd be hard to find something close to that price with the gamepad. Might save you a headache or two just to have one yourself.

well then. I hope I can still find second hand wiis with older firmwares just in case.

It's probably going to be more of a hassle than you are rationalizing. But, if you have 24/7 access to a flatmate's/friend's/whoever's gamepad, I'd say go for it. Be sure to check which version of firmware is loaded on the Wii U.

Worst case scenario is you pony up the 40€ for a stand alone gamepad someone is hawking on e-bay.

A lot of games only support the gamepad though and so that's like half the library you're going to miss out on.

For 60€? Impossible. Second hand in the local equivalent of Craigslist here costs like 300€ the cheapest in my city. Bigger cities have it for over 150€.

Ebay is more or less the same.

The Wii U is non-existent here in Europe. In the USA is fairly easy to find it for just a bit over $100. I might consider buying just the controller there, I can get it for like $100 send it to my friend and wait for my friend to come back from Chicago.

Forgot about this...even games were the gamepad is just a dumbass map or inventory, it's the only input the game will recognize. This is big in many first party titles.

With your current plan, I really only see you playing Mario Kart and Smash comfortably along with some retro VC games.

Get the gamepad---look for prices separately. Can't be that expensive now-a-days.

>>Worst case scenario is you pony up the 40€

I wish it was just that, I would buy the thing without thinking twice.

It costs more than the console alone. quite a load more.

A new XBOX One is cheaper than a new Wii U nowadays. That tablet alone ensures that new Wii Us will never dip below $200 MSRP.

Which is a damn shame, as it badly needs a price cut.

yeah, I fucking hate nintendo m8.

But the Bone is just a piece of shite if you have a decent PC.

>some very specific games.
Every good game.

I could be getting a Xbox one for little more than 100€ and a controller and ac adapter for 30€ more.

I'd be set and ready if I ever needed one of those. Fucking makes me want to kill myself because i'd be paying gladly that price of a complete Wii U.

Mario Kart is not a Good Game? Smash is not a Good game? Mario 3d world? NSMBWu and the Luigi one? Bayonetta? Splatoon?

Cmon m80.

Games that require gamepad to be on:
>Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival
>Art Academy Home Studio
>Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
>Funky Barn
>Game & Wario
>Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
>Lego City Undercover
>Mario Party 10
>Mario & Sonic 2014
>Mario & Sonic 2016
>Nintendoland
>Project Zero/Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water
>Splatoon
>Star Fox Zero
>Star Fix Guard
>Super Mario Maker
>Tokyo Mirage Sessions
>Wii Fit U
>Wii Party U
>Wii Sports Club
>Your Shape 2013

And there's a few more multiplats I don't own so can't check.

You LITERALLY need the game pad for the Wii U to even WORK.

It piss me off im to lazy to get a new charger for my wii pad and i got a new router so now i can connect my wifi from it to play sum trash 4

>Amiibo Festival
dropped

Wii U has a pretty dank lineup

u memeing right?

Xenoblade is pretty important

Has some great stuff, as well as some turds but it's a great system overall. eShop also has some good stuff too.

No memes.

That list has some pretty fun games already and doesn't include killer apps like Smash, Mario Kart, Mario 3D World, and Mario Maker.

Also not listed were some great games like Xenoblade X, the two Zelda remasters, Tropical Freeze, Yoshi's Wooly World, Hyrule Warriors, Pikman 3, Bayonetta 2, and Pokken Tournament.

Still to come are Paper Mario Color Splash and Breath of the Wild.

All things being equal, a pretty great console.

Oh yes, and Xenoblade. Got overlooked as the case is not with the others as I'm currently playing it. Loving it so far.

That picture is a pretty great summary.

I have a PS4 too but nearly 3 years in, I'm disappointed that it's basically a platform to play annualized sequels. I probably should have just built a gaming PC.

>suggesting WiiU Rodea
Way worse than the original Wii version

It's actually just a list of all the Wii U exclusives in the West, not really a recommendation image but if you don't have a Wii U but want to see what it has to offer then it's pretty useful to look at.

>tfw I went out and bought a WiiU for Bayo 2 and I still haven't played it yet

This was like a year and a half ago

these games are disgusting

Just like you then.

>I plan on pirating everything because I'm tired of wasting money on games that I never finish (it's a thing with me, I even have games sealed to this day, my steam account is filled with 0h played games)
yea I'm sure this is going to drive you to actually play games

and no it won't work, you actually need the gamepad to set up the wiiu

I do play pirated games, the thing is I never finish almost any game, so I feel guilty when I don't finish a game, let alone if i just play a couple of hours and gets me bored.

Then perhaps video games are not the hobby for you.

You're a retard if you buy that.

I broke my gamepad a while back. You can't update the console or games, and games that aren't updated can't be played. This means I'm basically forced to pay $100 to get it fixed, buy a new one, or borrow a friend's. Pro Controller can't access settings or update the console or games.
