There are millions of Let's Plays that have no views

>there are millions of Let's Plays that have no views
>there are millions of people who are just talking out loud to literally no one for hundreds of hours

This is a weirdly unsettling concept to me.

name ten

I also talk out loud to myself but I don't do Let's Plays

I see it as something my kids can look back on.

>scroll down to the very bottom of Twitch streams
>click on someone with no views and no subscribers
>they're doing game commentary and acting as if they have an audience of people listening
>streamer suddenly looks at his monitor
>"HEYYY *says my username* WELCOME TO THE STREAM!!"
>shit my pants and immediately close tab

>there are millions of Let's Plays that have millions of views
>they just say what's happening on screen in a loud voice
>they're not particularly funny or skilled

>they make enough money to live off of

It's really fucking uncomfortable when you're the only viewer in a steam channel

Be fair dude.

OP, name 9.

Gotta get started out some way I guess.

their fault for not using a viewbot

well are you working towards your own dreams, user?

The idea is that if you just make content regularly, you'll eventually find an audience.

>somewhere there is a Carl-like old man who heard he could be a millionaire by playing video games on youtube
>all he plays is Pac-Man

You just broke that guy's heart.

Oh well.

Not insulting them and immediately leaving

>talk to myself while playing vidya as if I have some sort of audience
This is what happens when you have no friends.

Sup Forums Channel comes to mind

I can't even record a video of myself talking in front of a camera because it feels so weird to just be talking to no one.
How youtubers can do this whilst sounding like they're having a natural conversation with somebody is weird

I've been streaming everytime I play a game for the past year on twitch and probably only ever got 7 people to go in the stream then just disappear

How did the big streamers even get an audience?

So why do you still do it?

Not meant to be a facetious question. I'm genuinely curious.

Because it's so fucking easy
>Press Alt+F8
Streaming starts
It's hassle-free so i figured why not?

>millions of lets plays that have no views
>millions of people who are just talking out loud to literally no one for hundreds of hours
Do you have a single fact to back that up?

Only thing I hated about streaming is the video is like 10 seconds behind what you're actually doing

get very involved in a very active gaming community either early on or at a high level

I think it's better to start with Youtube, 'cause youtube vids are always there and can show up from being searched or in related videos.

Then when you have an audience on Youtube, you parlay that into twitch streaming. There's a built in amount of people who will see it whenever you tweet that you're streaming. I guess.

>tfw streaming and uploading videos of me playing vidya
>no commentary
>no webcam
>just pure 1080p 60fps

>got flagged because one shitty video I uploaded 10 years ago got striked
>had to stop for 6 months
>gonna start soon again

Dunno what to play though.

78 subs

I guess I could try that
But my assumption is people don't watch streams unless you have a cam on yourself
No cam, no interest

It seemed awkward at first but came to realise it was okay. Let's be honest, some of us do internally narrate what we do for an imaginary audience. Just start streaming that shit, if you get views, awesome. If you don't, you still get to play vidya.

shill the fuck out of your content or latch on to a bigger channel.

you can't even find ONE to support your claim OP

>stay around and help the guy with tech issues
>give him someone to bounce commentary off of
>he's pretty funny, not too bad at games, and doesn't just play LoL/Hearthstone
>more people join and he's got a comfy number of viewers
>never see him stream again

It's like shouting into the void, it's very theraputic

Huh?

One time I stumbled upon a channel that had 9 subscribers.

I clicked on the latest video, which was of the uploader begging for some guy to "please come back."

Apparently, he previously had 10 subs, but one person unsubscribed, so he made a fucking 10- minute-long video begging that one person to come back.

It still remains to be the most pathetic thing I've ever seen.

>connect to a multiplayer server
>no other players on the server
>no bots
>walk around the empty, ambient map, all alone
It's an abstract kind of spook

>he doesn't know I have friends that view my streams when they have time

Jokes on you!

the biggest streamer on twitch doesn't have a cam

reminds me of that worlds game. that thing was a trip

Tfw you find a good lper with

>that shocking realization that your social awkwardness has probably made other people think they've wronged you or something

Really? The only time I see streams with no cams are from tournaments

No buy guy?

Lirik has the most subs and is consistently the most viewed streamer when there's no tournaments on, no cam

Not OP, but you can sort by upload date of whatever game you search, and find an endless amount Let's Plays with no views. OP is obviously embellishing the amount, but there really are just a seemingly infinite SHITLOAD of LPs that no one has ever (or will ever) watch.

>Be a small animation channel
>Use SFM for my works because its free
>The only way I can rack up views and subs is by animating Memetale and fnaf
>Any original video I post gets literally a fifth of the views I get on the other videos
>Havent really done anything in the past month i.e animation wise
>Really low motivation
>Any idea i try to put into effect just burns out nearly halfway through

300 subs

>watch streamers on twitch
>they're vaguely funny
>mostly just using them as background noise
>that awkward realization that this is their 'job'
>most of them have literally no future
>there are thousands of them
>futureless gamers

Its a weird feeling.

I'm in the same boat as him. I do it because I like to record myself playing games I like incase something awesome happens or I pull off some crazy shit. it's more of a personal thing that I can share with friends. sometimes they want to see what a game is like so I get in a chat with them and stream for them. other times if random people show up I'll do a commentary for them so they can tell what's going on if they're unfamiliar with the game so they aren't lost.

Just looked him up, you're right
That's nuts, I swear everyone else has a cam. I even looked to see if someone has more current viewers, and outside the 2 tournaments, he's definitely the most.

Thanks for the laugh, man.

They do it by practicing and not having autism.

I'm a fan of animation, hit me up senpai!
You just might have 301 by the time I'm through

>tfw stumbled upon a russian qt that streams at least 3 days a week but never has viewers
>tfw don't know russian

The secret is that he's funny, skilled, and is a variety streamer

You just gotta believe, and buddy up with streamers your level

>I just started talking. I thought I was crazy. But then I did it again.

>saw some guy playing Shadow of the Colossus a couple years ago
>had maybe 20~ viewers
>join chat, something I never do usually
>tell him about the lizards with the glowing tails and some other small pointers about the game for a couple hours

it was pretty enjoyable overall. It's only good when there are like

WAIT

senpai

I swear to god chinese moot

Huh?

youtube.com/channel/UCX5G5NWvIv0g_ZerI43zeQA

I forced myself to do these videos because I need the views to be recognised so I could feel better for myself

When did the F word start getting censored

This is what I want.
I want a small community of people, watching me and only me play video games and discuss video games n shit.

You're gonna have to clarify that a bit, bud.

I've been wanting to get into making youtube videos for ages.

desu I really just want to get drunk and relax with some games and record it.

Recently got all the stuff for it too, new microphone and everything.

I've been trying for 2 days to record audio but I can't talk into a microphone, I literally can't make myself talk to someone who's not there. How do you get over this Sup Forums it's really messing me over.

Anyone else going to off themselves when they turn 30?

Up your professionalism. It's hard to describe what I mean, but watch movies that are generally agreed to have amazing cinematography and work good camera angles into your videos. Watch Valve's Meet the Class videos. Watch successful GMOD/SFM videos and try to study what makes them good. You need your own style.

How new are you, famalam?

Imagine you have an audience

>he's actually really good and hits the 256 error occasionally

test fuck

Ok then.

Probably not, though I kinda plan on buying a plot of land in the middle of nowhere for cheap and just kinda hillbilly it up.

Honestly I already have the money for it, I'm just waiting to finish my classes.

Me too user, me too

And waste my new wizard powers? Fat chance you just want all the magic for yourself. You don't fool me.

1. Watch streamers who do a lot of good narration, like Northernlion. Imitate them.

2. Practice speaking in a mirror. The easiest way is to explain or describe something you know a lot about. Try to explain the plot of your favorite game in detail without stumbling.

3. Talk slowly. It makes you sound wiser and gives you more time to think of what to say next. Always be silent instead of saying "like", "um", or "y'know" to fill space.

>most popular videos are Undertale or meme related
I feel sorry for you

>join a Teamspeak server with friends
>bind two keys in obs to talk: Teamspeak talk button and another random button
>chat with friends on TS normally.
>someone who joins will say high on the stream chat
>use other button to talk to them

I also have a key bound to mute Teamspeak so I can talk to viewers without being interrupted.

>message notification
>o hai can u pls look at my things and follow me pls

I fucking hate it when people approach me and try to get me to follow their channel or whatever. That kind of shit gets immediately ignored - at least so far the only ones to do that seem to be children.

Huh?

>playing quickplay in Overwatch
>not trying too hard
>end up the odd man out of a 5 stack
>consistently get golds/PotG's for about 5 games straight
>suddenly some guy from the 5 stack plugs his channel
>people have been watching me carry his ass

It was a weird feeling

Huh?

>people who are just talking out loud to literally no one for hundreds of hours
I do this and I don't even have a youtube channel or a microphone.

>Search "lets play minecraft episode 1" on youtube
>click on filters button
>Sort by upload date
>enjoy

Huh?

youtube.com/watch?v=2mFBhX72QJo

At least he is enjoying himself

I literally just did this, and... what the fuck.

youtube.com/watch?v=1rWzHEmZn2E

19 minutes of someone filming Minecraft with a shitty camcorder coated in vaseline and the glare of a lamp shining directly on the TV.

THIS IS THE FUTURE OF ENTERTAINMENT.

I'm sure you've hurt a lot of people user, as have I.

>those clickbait bot playlists
>all those console edition videos
I'm not sure which is funnier.

I really don't have any problem talking to a mirror or other people over a mic.

It's just sitting talking into a mic by myself, I start sounding literally retarded.

This kind of shit used to be ubiquitous on Sup Forums before moot decided posting stream links was a bannable offense. It was comfy af

>no one is subbing per month/not being paid
At what point are you putting in too much work and not getting paid enough for it where it's better to go back to not being a content creator?

I talk to myself without a microphone in front of me anyway, for some reason vocalising some of my thoughts gets me more emotionally involved in whatever I'm doing.

Jack Riley died? Fuck this gay earth....

I said fuck it!!!

every big youtube dude started off by talking to 'literally no one'

I have talked out loud to literally no one for millions of hours

I've seen a lot of youtubers that I've followed since they were small become larger and many of them made videos later and talked about how it became harder to keep in touch with their community once they started getting a couple thousand subs and that they got overwhelmed by it and basically stopped talking to their fans and stuff. A lot of them start pandering to the wrong part of their followers and the followers start becoming zealots and you can't critique them anymore. It's a really weird thing.

Huh?

>watching other people play video games

why do people do this? why?................

i miss mario retardy

>tfw movie streams late at night

I forgot how much I missed them. Thanks user.

Is this all recorded or what?
