Favorite Castlevania? Including Metroidvanias too.

...

You posted it. I love Symphony and Aria alot too though.

1 is so much better than the rest it's not even a contest, the only one that comes remotely close is 3, which beats 1 in a lot of areas but loses serious points for having some genuinely cheap areas and bosses, while 1 remains fair throughout. Still excellent though.

As for metroidvania I think Aria is the best but it's a lot less clear cut than with the classic games.

pleb.

My favourites are 1, Rondo of Blood and Portrait of Ruin.

I just finished Dawn of Sorrow and it was amazing
I got best ending on first playthrough and it felt really rewarding. Wish the antagonists were more fleshed out, do I get to see them at all if I go back to play Aria? I'm probably just gonna start playing all the Castlevanias

No, the antagonists of Dawn don't appear in Aria.

My favorites were the GBA ones.

Aria of sorrow is my absolute favorite though, for sure.

But user, Dmitrii was completely fleshed out :^)

Which are worth going through

Damn. Well, I still think it's one of the best games I've played in a while. Gonna go play Castlevania 1, wish me luck. I will be the Vampire Killer

Story/Characters is easily the weakest part of that game, its prequel is a lot better for that (and most other things), although the sort of main antagonist still doesn't get very much screen time

Some of the 3Ds are good. Like lament of innocense and Curse of darkness (the last good 3d castlevania)

Symphony of the Night

Why it not on Staem?

I know that's not SOTN in the pic but the thumbnail looked cool and Idgaf.

I thought the PS2 games were the low points of 3D CV, honestly.

Symphony of the night, and bloodlines for the Genesis

Castlevania 1 is rock solid.
Ecclesia is probably my favourite metroidvania, but that's probably just because I played it more than the others. Although it has one thing that's objectively the best, which is GIANT ENEMY CRAB.

this game would have been amazing if they didn't use the mexican culture theme and throw in memes.

Harmony of Despair

If it was not for the system, I'd go with Ecclesia. Easily the best visuals/music.
SotN and AoS were also amazing.

>playing Symphony of the night for the first time this week
>mfw using the wolf charge on long corridors
they don't make video games like they used to...
