Probably not, we learned a long time ago that fucking with people's brains is extremely dangerous and can completely change their personality.
Technology will improve but everything else will regress. They will become shorter and more expensive despite. They will feature less gameplay and more overt messages. VR will never be anything but a walking simulator with gimmicky enviromental manipulation. Several genres as we know them now will gradually fall out of use, notably First Person Shooters and roleplay games, they will exist but there will be little to do with their namesake.
