ITT: Best GTA Ever

ITT: Best GTA Ever.

Agreed. I just started replaying it, actually. I'm not sure if it's nostalgia or not, but I didn't like any of the sequels as much. I think the sequels tried to do too much, and to make the maps too big. But it was still mostly the same game, meaning the maps were just more diluted.

>the drum and bass station is the best music station

Everything before 4 has aged liked literal milk, and 4 was trying too hard to be a realistic, down to earth crime drama to be fun, therefore 5 is the only good game in the series to play in 2016.

last good gta

Anyone played the Story games? Were they any good.

I still have my copy of GTA IV intact, loved the PS2 trilogy, wonder why I haven't played this one.

I had both stories on PSP, they were really cool at the time, super impressive to have fully functional 3D gta games on a handheld. They even had some minor improvements over 3 and Vice City (You had motorbikes in Liberty City Stories and you could swim in Vice City Stories).

They're nothing special today though, they've had their time.

Played it for the first time last year and it was rough
No map and fucked up difficulty

Everytime you beat a hard level, an even harder and more annoying one was waiting right after

>I started gaming on the xbox 360

>No map

Did we play the same game?

I really can't talk about difficulty though, I think my younger self loved to use cheat codes in the games, in fact I used most without even looking at them.
Think I only beat San Andreas cheatless.

OH SWEET JESUS

I'VE WASTED MY LIFE

AND MY LOOKS

not him but the original ps2 version didnt have an in game map

holy shit that moon, what a throwback

you have to play gta 3 like you are playing driver. you are fucking useless outside of your car, always rely on drive bys and the game because a lot easier. it gets really easy once you get the bullet proof patriot from ray

Oh, thought you were talking about the little map thing on the corner.

Also, I think the game had a map poster of liberty city

>that timed mission where you need to blow up several stalls
>they're spread out all over Liberty City
>they only show up in your map when you're near them

Why does R* always remove the cool melee weapons?

was this changed in a second release of the game? Because I could have swear I bought the game no more than a year after release and I recall it having a map at the pause menu

GTA III would be perfect if it had a rural section. I realized the other night why I like san andreas so much, it's all the fucking woods you can drive around in. I hope GTA VI has a lot of locations like that. Have one city and then a bunch of actual rural areas, not that desert shit.

Also how the hell do I take screencaps with Vice City? I try doing the prtsc (print screen method) but all it captures is the windows page of where I have the game installed, and plus using reshade's built in screencapture doesn't let the game go into wide screen, how do I fix this? Other programs like dxtory just crash when the game loads. Also GTA III doesn't have a problem with ptscrn though.

there's always fraps

Is the trial version okay to use? I don't want to take any risks on going torrent sites just for FRAPS.

I can't believe that was the final product before you hit "post"

i dont think any of the versions have an in game map except for the mobile version, i could be wrong though.

trails mod is way too intense. it literally hurts to look at it

>5
>good

I don't feel comfortable playing GTA games anymore. I guess maybe it's just because I'm older? But I didn't feel to happy starting a new game and within the first few missions murdering a couple people and planting a car bomb.

Some people will probably say they were evil people anyway, since they were a drug dealer, a pimp, and a mafia member, so it doesn't matter as much.

Just curious about what your arguments will be, Sup Forumsirgins.

>No map
>Soundtrack is dirt compared to VC
>No bikes

Super good game but Vice City is clearly superior.

Is there any videogames in which you don't kill something?

What the fuck are you talking about. I skipped over 3 and played San Andreas first, then Vice, then IV. 3 was easily the worst of all of them.

There are a few where you don't have to kill anything, but in a lot of games it's in a self-defense context. These examples from GTA3 weren't self-defense.

>3 was easily the worst of all of them.
But you skipped over it.

It's the only one worth of buying in Steam, for the music license shit.

I can still play just fine, but I feel that gta gets less fun with every new game.

Back in san andreas you were allowed to actually have fun, your health was big, gang wars were fun, hitting a taxi car with a baseball and baiting the driver in hitting someone else and start a all out war between npcs that way, those things were fun as fuck, going on war with cops were fun.

GTA4 gave up much of that fun to be a little realistic, and gta5 became against fun, npcs die with a kiss and they dont fight back like before, police cars will pierce the void to find you, I finished san andreas many times, but I have yet to finish gta5, the game simply becomes not fun after a time,

Your character became too fragile in the name of realism, saints rows suffer from the fact that your character can literally become god before the story is halfway over, I wish for a happy medium like san andreas, less realism and more fun, but not enough to make the game into god mode.

I was mostly talking about it from a morality aspect. I recently finished doing a nonlethal run in Deus Ex, so starting up GTA 3 and very quickly murdering two people and planting a car bomb was a pretty big chance from that. It just gave me a different perspective.

>chance
change

It wasn't in-game, it was an actual map that came with the game.

>i think its shit but i didnt play it
k

I never had problems with that, the npcs never act with enough realism to warrant sympathy.

There is also the difference that in deus ex people will react over your actions, not so in GTA, no amount of murder and theft will change how people see you.

vice city is obviously the better game the music itself makes it a better game

Did you even play the game? This is the definition of aged game. The whole difficulty of the game comes from the horrible tank controls and that you cannot jump from a burning car.
